Amy our server was awesome. The swordfish I had was dry over salted, very over salted! The seasonal vegetables not edible. Other guests had short ribs were were very good but portion small. The tri tip was smothered in gravy, masked the taste of steak. Ask for it on side! Same seasonal vegetables and comments. The setting awesome. I would chock it up to bad night for kitchen. Someone not paying attention.
The mark of an outstanding restaurant is repeatability. A month ago we had a great meal, with very good service. This time, the previously fabulous corned beef hash, was dried out and tough and the poached eggs over cooked: too much time under the heat lamps. That fits with our server being AWOL much of the time. It’s always risky to return to a restaurant hoping to have a repeat of a a great experience. Unfortunately, that proved to be all too true this time. We’ll be back again hoping this past experience was an aberration and that fabulousness awaits our next visit.
The Grill is outdoors and it’s food is really quite imaginative and staff very pleasant. But the whole thing was spoilt by lack of any view and for the appalling noise of the central cooling system, which we were told is always present there. It was ridiculously noisy and more or less killed the evening.
As usual the ambiance at TP Grill is breathtaking. Try to get there for the sunset.
Unfortunately, the extremely long wait for service is such a disappointment. From the moment you sit down until your drinks arrive, to order, to entree arriving, to the check. Plan on having a great deal of patience because this never seems to change.
The dinner menu also seems to need an update. They do accommodate ordering entrees from the lunch menu. So, take a peek at this menu on line to see if there might be something more interesting.
The prices for a glass of wine are costly. Guess your paying for the view.
The waitress was very kind even though she was rushed. As she approached our table she thanked us for waiting and said she "would take care of us". From past experience this usually means a free drink, dessert or perhaps it might be reflected in the bill. Never were offered any of these.
We had a large group (12) and the only negative was not being able to separate the check when every restaurant we had gone to for a week had no problem. Charging an automatic 20% gratuity and not be willing to separate the check didn't set well with any of us! We have a large golfing group that travels together for a week or so a couple times a year and have never had a problem....
This,place was recommended by our neighbor and we are so greatful he did. We had a fabilous table with view of the Gulf cours. Although I think every table has it. Incredible portions and very delicious.,I had the Ruben sandwich and my husband had the salad with seared Ahi Tuna.
We just loved the outdoor atmosphere with comfortable seating. Servos was excuisit.

Sat outside, as it was a beautiful San Diego Chamber of Commerce day. Our lunch table was still occupied when we arrived, so we got a drink at the bar and watched the folks putt. Prime table overlooking the tee with the ocean as backdrop.. great wait staff; friendly, helpful, appeared when you needed her. Food arrived quickly.. hamburger cooked to perfection for one; Rueben another; rotisserie chicken sandwich for me, and a sloppy joe for my girl. Superb lunch with friends at a great location.
Hostess insisted I sit outside after I requested a table inside as it was cold. I was visibly uncomfortable so the waitress moved me inside but it was too late. The food was then too cold.
Waitress was very nice but the hostess needs to improve upon her people skills. She could start by smiling.
I was unimpressed. I went for restaurant week and perhaps that was the problem, but I often use restaurant week to find new places that I return to. After the first course, nothing was pleasing. The tri-tip was boring, the asparagus overcooked, and the flourless chocolate cake dry and lifeless. We also had excellent service at the start of the evening, but as it got busier we were literally ignored. We sat with our main course finished for at least 30 minutes before anyone inquired if we were done.
Lovely setting outside with a view of golf course and ocean. Nice, varied selection of dishes on the menu. Ate there for lunch one day and then for weekend brunch. We were a party of 6 each time and every single guest enjoyed their meal selection, drinks, and setting. Only complaint was having to ask the server several times for water.
Came for breakfast. Wait staff needs to get it together, looked lost and were inattentive with only 3 tables occupied. Came for the view outdoors but construction going on so sat inside. Nothing to recommend the food, regular breakfast items so save the $16 for eggs and go to the diner.
Beautiful sunset views from the patio. Terrific service- I couldn't make a dent in the complimentary potato chips and sour cream dip, so instead of packing up what was on the table, the server gave me fresh batches to take home- for free!
Will be back with family members.
We have always loved the Drugstore Burger at the Grille and usually go there specifically for them. This last visit I ordered mine my usual way... cooked medium. It was quite overlooked and actually tough. I am currently one of those unfortunate adults with braces on my teeth, so these days my burgers are eaten with a knife and fork. The burger was difficult to eat this way since it was so overlooked. I did notice one of my other party of three also did not finish her burger, which looked hockey puckish to me as well. I know it's only a burger and it's to be expected occasionally, but when one is paying $20.00 for a hamburger, I really hope to enjoy it more. I will give them another chance to redeem themselves however, as we have never been disappointed with them before and this was a first...
Our go-to choice for relaxed, outdoor ,excellent casual dining with a fabulous golf course and ocean view...tranquility, serenity and calm permeate the entire feeling of the evening each time we are there.

Eva and Danny, our wait staff, are unsurpassed in their ability to turn food into an enjoyable experience.
Slow service , warm white wine & BLAT lost its appeal ; yet still flavorful. Bring back the piled on butter lettuce! Inexpensive wow appeal. Also , be more generous on mayo to the entire slice of bread.
Chix rotisserie sandwich needs an aioli to accompany the flavor.
Monte Cristo requires a crispy toast to the bread instead of soft and mushy.
Make sure your delicious fries are plated last and sent out immediately. Should be served hot. Not just warm.
Delivery of food should be within 13-15 min. Esp when it's not crowded. Only 5 tables in patio at 1:40 pm Not 30 min.
