This was an important dinner and so I chose the restaurant carefully and reserved well in advance. We called to confirm and arrived early -- just to insure everything was okay. We live in Silverado and had visitors, one in a wheelchair, a retired chief justice, to whom we wanted to offer a great evening.
After ordering and eating our salads, the dinner was nowhere to be found. At during that time, no water refills, wine or drink requests, no bread refills. Where was dinner? A very long wait and I couldn't find the server.
Finally, the server came to apologize and say dinner was coming. He was very nice and apologetic. But this wasn't the occasion for that. I didn't want problems. He offered free desserts, which was the nice thing to do. We accepted. He really felt bad -- and I truly appreciate his offer.
I mentioned, at the end of the meal, that my KOBE burger was burnt on both sides. Really awful. Last time I had it there it was "okay" -- overdone. But this time it was BLACK on both sides. I don't eat cheese, so I could see the burger well. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to wait another half hour or disturb what was intended to be a pleasant evening of hosting our valued guests.
So, to conclude, I appreciate the offer of dessert to to remove my meal from t he charge. He was smart and kind to offer that. But will I rely on the Grille for an event-free occasion any time soon? I don't think so.
Some new items on menu, like short ribs with horseradish mashed potatoes. Friendly service.
Outstanding food and service. Had the short ribs and they were wonderful. Probably the leanest sort ribs i have ever had. Abe was the serving person. A seasoned professional who can anticipate the diner's needs.
We went for lunch...I had the crab Louie salad and the guys had two big yummy sandwiches... pulled pork with fries and a fish burger with truffle fries. It was quiet because everyone was heading home after a three day weekend. oh...don't forget we had great glasses of wine and finished with a mud pie. Yes,,,,it was nice!
We had slow service and good food not "wow" like we are used to in Napa valley
Horrible and rude host, staff and no service. We had to walk out. The menu was very disappointing as well. This resort can do so much better.
Gracious hostess and wait staff. The entrees were delicious! We were going to dine here during Restaurant Week but didn't make it unfortunately...the duck confit sounded amazing! Looking forward to returning to The Grill soon.
The food quality was good. The overall pace of service between courses were slow. The elderly couple behind us got upset and complained. Their drinks were given to them to appease them. We didn't complain because we were on a date night and just wanted to have fun. This was on Saturday night.
We went back for Sunday brunch. The food was fantastic and the service was timely and terrific. We had a lovely time.
We have been at the restaurant previously so wanted to celebrate a birthday at the grill but this time we were so disappointed
The six of us were the only people in the restaurant for over an hour and the service was very slow.
The caesar salad was such a disappointment - barely any croutons or dressing and lettuce was not fresh, cost was $12.
The classic wedge was ordered without enough dressing so extra dressing was asked for but never was served, $12.
Three of us had Petrale sole which was good but very small pieces, $29 each.
For non-members the corkage fee in the grill is $25 per bottle, even to locals.
great service and good food. Bar area comfortable.
Very nice staff and food was wonderful! Beautiful surroundings too!
The Grill at Silverado provides a beautiful setting to enjoy lunch. Great views of the golf course. Ariel was our waitress, first day back from Maternity leave! Wonderful service and enjoyed her attention and conversation.
We went to the grill for New Year's Eve. When you go for dinner, you are also entitled to attend the party n the mansion. Delicious steak for dinner, lobster bisque, and warm fun ambiance for the celebration.
It was a great experience. But I feel that’s what we paid for was the experience. It was New Year’s Eve so there was a set menu with little options and small servings. The first course was touted as a lobster bisque with puffed pastry. I pictured a bowl of thick bisque with a puffed pastry baked over the top.. but it was a much smaller portion and the puffed pastry was a lonely little square floating in the middle of the very watered down bisque. (The option to this was a lettuce salad, and that was what it was a plate of lettuce with vinegarette.) The second course was a very tasty fillet mignon dish, it was delish and cooked to each of our specifications, even the polenta was exceptional! No complaints there! The dessert was a single option and 2/4 of our party liked it while the other 2 did not. The meal was $90 per person!!! Very overpriced for the type of restaurant it is advertised as. It was one of those special occasion things that we will not likely do again. It is just too expensive for the quality and quantity of what was offered .
We went to the breakfast buffet. was very good...glad we went early. nice room and perfect way to start our Sunday. Thanks Silverado for doing great!
Long wait fir the dishes to be made which are pretty simple- scallops and filet mignon.
The entrees scallops and filet arrived undercooked. The restaurant manager stepped in to send it back to finish cooking. By the time it arrived back filet mignon looked like a charred sole.
The booking server at the arrival desk picked up the phone when we arrived and was on the phone for like 10 min untill she finally hung up and paid any attention to us. She told us to come back at 7:30!! The restaurant was 1/3 full then.
I mentioned my open table reservation and she acknowleded us.
Overall impression- overpriced for quality of food and service.
Excellent seafood: scallops and petrole sole incredibly fresh and superb..amazing chestnut and celery soup and kebabs to start..kid friendly and cozy atmosphere
It was Christmas afternoon. When I had made the reservation on Open Table a few weeks in advance, I thought I read a special holiday menu for the Grill (as well as for the main dining room). When we sat down, we discovered it was just the regular daily menu--ordinary sandwiches, salads, and a few entrees. The service was friendly, but my expensive turkey BLT sandwich was mediocre. Of course, we would never drive an hour each way to go there again.
Service is outstanding. The valet team including MIke and Andi went above and beyond to help with my parents with walkers and wheelchairs. Awesome!!
Food quality was excellent and so was the portion. Our service from Simon was more than excellent. Next morning, the buffet was again excellent. Choices were everything you'd want and quality was excellent. Service was again excellent with Giselle.
Solid breakfast buffet. Beautiful seting. We loved our waiter.
Superb meal from start to finish - crab cakes / specialty pizza on to boneless rib eye was wow along with the root vege puree - lamb was also great. Sorry - we were too full for dessert.
Go back in a flash.
We enjoyed our meal. The service was exceptional. And the view of the green is great.
Went here for brunch. Food was ok but cold. Service was slow. If you are looking for fine food move on
Great wine list by the bottle but surprisingly awful by the glass wine list. Food was great however!
Right on / near the golf course if you wish to see trees, grass, golfers and people enjoying the outdoors.
Service was great, the food fresh and delicious, and the restaurant was quiet.
Well thank you Silverado...they have improved their menu finally. All of our plates were perfectly seasoned and very carefully presented. Big improvement. We had an appetizer of tuna and then the special entree which was a seafood stew. Excellent flavors. They also added new wines by the glass. Still casual, you can get a hamburger and fries any kind of cocktail...from beer to wine...great selections. I was really tired of the old menu and delighted to see new items. Bravo. I think they have new blood in the kitchen....yes!
We took a couple of friends here for the Chicken and Sparkling wine dinner, as we. had it last year and it was very good. This year is was not as good as it was very lightly coated. I think we got more chicken last year. This year we got one thigh, one breast, 1 drum stick and 1 wing. The mashed potatoes while good were not hot and the salad was wilted. The cole slaw was good. I think that for a $45 special for two we should have gotten more chicken and maybe even a vegetable like last year. I have made reservations for 2 future dinners here with the intent of bringing guests. I am not sure the meal was good enough for bringing guests who have never dined here.
Bad service, bad timing, bad food. Clearly bad management.
Silverado is a classic Napa Valley experience. The ambiance is wonderful. The expansive resort is very inviting and well maintained. If you are seeking a relaxing environment to enjoy a great meal with beautiful views, visit Silverado soon! No corkage fee on Sunday's allow you to enjoy your own favorite bottle of wine!
We live at Silverado and love to go to brunch and dinner there. I had decided it would be a great place to take my new boss and his wife for dinner. It was a Sunday evening and I knew the resort had had a big weekend filled with weddings. So I thought it would be perfect for a quiet Sunday dinner. The food was great. The problem was that it appeared they had given the primary chef and servers the night off. We got there at 6:30 and ordered promptly. The first time we saw any food was 8PM. There were only five tables of diners so I do not know what happened. But a resort needs to be full service at all times. It was quite embarrassing for me to take my boss out to dinner and have it take forever.
We eat often at The Grill. The food is always good, nice menu, great service and a reasonable price for a restaurant of it's quality. It's not pretentious at all - very warm and comfortable.
Pablo is a excellent chef!
Delicious and tasty food, but they really to hire more waitress. Our waitress was trying to do his best, but he had a lot of other tables to cover. We had to wait almost 25 min to place the order, and then 45 min to get it ready, and then more 40 min just to get the check.. Sometimes very disorganized too, like multiple waitress coming and asking if we had everything we need, but the service was very slow and poor.
Probably The Worst Meal During Our Northern CA Vacation in Napa! The Silverado Resort and Spa was a great place to hang our hats for three nights, but The Grill was a major disappointment, especially at a vacation resort! There were 6 of us, all guests at the resort and all very disappointed. Two of the entrees ordered called for shrimp. The tiny shrimp tasted as if they were frozen, not fresh and were purchased from Costco. I personally ordered the Pasta Bolognese. It was the worst I've ever eaten. It was dry and with very little bolognese sauce. Lastly, my son ordered the Rib-Eye Steak. Big mistake. Overcooked! The Petrale Sole was ok. 1 of 6. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! I advised the front desk upon checkout. I was told that she'd look into it and call me to hopefully make it right. The total bill was just about $300.00. It's been five days now and still no call! Is that what you call great customer service???
Quality at the Grill can be a bit disappointing. Tonight it was very good. Service by "Jimmy" was excellent.
Just a golf clubhouse dining room. Food good but very casual. Children running around and bar area can be noisy with golfers buying drinks.
We made reservations here for July 3rd at 9pm. The service and food were excellent - kudos to Abe and the chef. After we finished dinner, we headed out to the balcony to watch the fireworks. Fantastic evening!
We always go here July 3rd for the pass eight years. I wished there was more variety on the menu and changes in the menu. We always end up getting the hamburgers. Some of my friends got the hanger steak and pork chop entree and said it was very good. Service was a little hit and miss and scattered brain. Don't order the Grapefruit Jalapeño Margarita the taste was awesome and I had lots of Jalapeño Margaritas at lots of fine dining across the world and this was the worse. Our Kobe beef hamburgers were all cooked to perfection. This restaurant is good for a casual dining experience, not fine dining.
Usually our dinner here is great but tonight it fell short.
