The Grill at Silverado Resort Ratings and Reviews
The food quality was good. The overall pace of service between courses were slow. The elderly couple behind us got upset and complained. Their drinks were given to them to appease them. We didn't complain because we were on a date night and just wanted to have fun. This was on Saturday night.
We went back for Sunday brunch. The food was fantastic and the service was timely and terrific. We had a lovely time.
We have been at the restaurant previously so wanted to celebrate a birthday at the grill but this time we were so disappointed
The six of us were the only people in the restaurant for over an hour and the service was very slow.
The caesar salad was such a disappointment - barely any croutons or dressing and lettuce was not fresh, cost was $12.
The classic wedge was ordered without enough dressing so extra dressing was asked for but never was served, $12.
Three of us had Petrale sole which was good but very small pieces, $29 each.
For non-members the corkage fee in the grill is $25 per bottle, even to locals.
It was a great experience. But I feel that’s what we paid for was the experience. It was New Year’s Eve so there was a set menu with little options and small servings. The first course was touted as a lobster bisque with puffed pastry. I pictured a bowl of thick bisque with a puffed pastry baked over the top.. but it was a much smaller portion and the puffed pastry was a lonely little square floating in the middle of the very watered down bisque. (The option to this was a lettuce salad, and that was what it was a plate of lettuce with vinegarette.) The second course was a very tasty fillet mignon dish, it was delish and cooked to each of our specifications, even the polenta was exceptional! No complaints there! The dessert was a single option and 2/4 of our party liked it while the other 2 did not. The meal was $90 per person!!! Very overpriced for the type of restaurant it is advertised as. It was one of those special occasion things that we will not likely do again. It is just too expensive for the quality and quantity of what was offered .
Long wait fir the dishes to be made which are pretty simple- scallops and filet mignon.
The entrees scallops and filet arrived undercooked. The restaurant manager stepped in to send it back to finish cooking. By the time it arrived back filet mignon looked like a charred sole.
The booking server at the arrival desk picked up the phone when we arrived and was on the phone for like 10 min untill she finally hung up and paid any attention to us. She told us to come back at 7:30!! The restaurant was 1/3 full then.
I mentioned my open table reservation and she acknowleded us.
Overall impression- overpriced for quality of food and service.
It was Christmas afternoon. When I had made the reservation on Open Table a few weeks in advance, I thought I read a special holiday menu for the Grill (as well as for the main dining room). When we sat down, we discovered it was just the regular daily menu--ordinary sandwiches, salads, and a few entrees. The service was friendly, but my expensive turkey BLT sandwich was mediocre. Of course, we would never drive an hour each way to go there again.
Well thank you Silverado...they have improved their menu finally. All of our plates were perfectly seasoned and very carefully presented. Big improvement. We had an appetizer of tuna and then the special entree which was a seafood stew. Excellent flavors. They also added new wines by the glass. Still casual, you can get a hamburger and fries any kind of cocktail...from beer to wine...great selections. I was really tired of the old menu and delighted to see new items. Bravo. I think they have new blood in the kitchen....yes!
We took a couple of friends here for the Chicken and Sparkling wine dinner, as we. had it last year and it was very good. This year is was not as good as it was very lightly coated. I think we got more chicken last year. This year we got one thigh, one breast, 1 drum stick and 1 wing. The mashed potatoes while good were not hot and the salad was wilted. The cole slaw was good. I think that for a $45 special for two we should have gotten more chicken and maybe even a vegetable like last year. I have made reservations for 2 future dinners here with the intent of bringing guests. I am not sure the meal was good enough for bringing guests who have never dined here.

We live at Silverado and love to go to brunch and dinner there. I had decided it would be a great place to take my new boss and his wife for dinner. It was a Sunday evening and I knew the resort had had a big weekend filled with weddings. So I thought it would be perfect for a quiet Sunday dinner. The food was great. The problem was that it appeared they had given the primary chef and servers the night off. We got there at 6:30 and ordered promptly. The first time we saw any food was 8PM. There were only five tables of diners so I do not know what happened. But a resort needs to be full service at all times. It was quite embarrassing for me to take my boss out to dinner and have it take forever.
Delicious and tasty food, but they really to hire more waitress. Our waitress was trying to do his best, but he had a lot of other tables to cover. We had to wait almost 25 min to place the order, and then 45 min to get it ready, and then more 40 min just to get the check.. Sometimes very disorganized too, like multiple waitress coming and asking if we had everything we need, but the service was very slow and poor.
Probably The Worst Meal During Our Northern CA Vacation in Napa! The Silverado Resort and Spa was a great place to hang our hats for three nights, but The Grill was a major disappointment, especially at a vacation resort! There were 6 of us, all guests at the resort and all very disappointed. Two of the entrees ordered called for shrimp. The tiny shrimp tasted as if they were frozen, not fresh and were purchased from Costco. I personally ordered the Pasta Bolognese. It was the worst I've ever eaten. It was dry and with very little bolognese sauce. Lastly, my son ordered the Rib-Eye Steak. Big mistake. Overcooked! The Petrale Sole was ok. 1 of 6. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! I advised the front desk upon checkout. I was told that she'd look into it and call me to hopefully make it right. The total bill was just about $300.00. It's been five days now and still no call! Is that what you call great customer service???
We always go here July 3rd for the pass eight years. I wished there was more variety on the menu and changes in the menu. We always end up getting the hamburgers. Some of my friends got the hanger steak and pork chop entree and said it was very good. Service was a little hit and miss and scattered brain. Don't order the Grapefruit Jalapeño Margarita the taste was awesome and I had lots of Jalapeño Margaritas at lots of fine dining across the world and this was the worse. Our Kobe beef hamburgers were all cooked to perfection. This restaurant is good for a casual dining experience, not fine dining.
We went early on a Sunday and found it a nice quiet time. We both had the special which was Salmon. It was prepared perfectly. Enjoyed watching the golfers and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our server Brittany was darling and well trained. Thank you Silverado for a nice experience.
The Grill at Silverado is a gem for locals. The food is good and the service is also very good on most occasions. On our recent visit is was crowded with two large tables made up for a very large family group. It was noisy but understandable. The service staff was a bit distracted, but also understandable. Kendall was excellent and so sweet. The prime rib was really good but if you react to tenderizer later - be careful. The gazpacho was not acidic enough for me - too sweet; almost like a cold squash soup. The flatbread was very good. The shrimp was tasty.
We enjoyed the evening.
