Since we began in 1985, our traditional style of cooking has been based on our European philosophy and culture "Fresh From Scratch and From the Heart".
Thierry, Chef and Restaurant Owner, opened the renowned L’Etoile in Alamo Heights in 1985 and in 2007 added a second restaurant- The Grill at Leon Springs. Using French culinary experience and expertise, he creates dishes that originate in France but combine exquisite flavors and ingredients from all over the world.
Our open kitchen showcases the chefs cooking over our unique imported wood fired grill. Our reputation is based on our specialty seafood items, including Halibut, Red Snapper, Scallops and Lobster. We also offer steaks as well as gourmet dishes and Pizza, cooked on our wood fire oven.
We frequently update our menu in order to use seasonal produce.
Join us for lunch or dinner and experience the Texas Hill Country's finest European Cuisine, with an authentic American flair.

We were at The Grill for lobster week. We love this restaurant but this time, we did not love the recipe for our choices. My husband got the lobster mac & cheese. The cherry tomatoes in the dish were not to his liking. I ordered the lobster flambe. It was my fault in not asking for a description of the dish. I was envisioning lobster in a cognac sauce with sides. The lobster was in a cognac sauce along with every imaginable vegetable they could think of. It didn't even look appetizing. The lobster with the sauce was delicious. The crunchy baby brussel sprouts were not. I did eat some of the potatoes & zucchini but it just was not a cohesive dish.

It was super disappointing that theyre proud of not allowing substitutions...even ha e it printed on the menu "my mother didnt allow us to sustitute so neither can you." And so sad, nothing on the menu was keto friendly. Then to add insult to injury, the cost was crazy high and if i wanted to add veggies or a salad it was way over prices.

Food was very underwhelming, especially for the price you pay. Every dish needed salt very badly. Not the greatest experience. Do not go here if you’re looking for good pasta.

Fine dining in a very relaxing atmosphere. Excellent service, and food. Even though the restaurant was extremely busy (Friday night) the staff was on point!!!! Definitely our go to place from now on. A band was playing that night kinda wish we dined outside so we could hear them. Got to hear them as we were headed to the car...jazz music sounded great!!!

Restaurant was not equipped for Mother’s Day crowd. We were seated 45 minutes after our reservation after being told 15 minutes more twice. When seated we were told we could not order for another 15 minutes but we would be allowed to order drinks which never happened. We had to beg for bread. The restaurant was out of a number of foods include their entire pizza menu.

It was Mother’s Day Ana even with the reservation, staff seemed overwhelmed and confused upon our arrival. It took nearly an hour to receive a house salad before dinner entrees.

Wine by the glass was overpriced.

Food itself was great.

Service was below what I had expected and not as good as prior visits.

The food, as always, was excellent even though it was presented buffet style thanks, I'm sure, to the excellent guidance from Chef Thierry Burkle. They split the buffet into two areas of the restaurant and this has helped with the customer flow and lines. I did like it in the past when they had the salads in a separate area but now it's all in one line. Our server, Andreas, was superb! He kept coming by to make sure everything was OK and that we got what we needed. He was very personable and professional. For such a large crowd, the Grill has got it down and everyone enjoyed our Mother's Day experience.

The Maître d’ is rude even on Mother’s Day to mothers. Food is always wonderful and reasonably priced. Once you get past him the rest of the experience is 5 Star.

There were four of us. I had the agnelotti and it was excellent. I highly recommend it. One in our party had the rib eye and it was a big disappointment, especially at $47. Did not seem like a prime rib eye. The other two in our party had beef tenderloin dishes. They were both good but not great. Overall, the food was not up to the usual standards. The service was very good and the noise level was fairly quiet.

We were looking forward to have a great evening dining there, however, when we asked our server about a dish on you special menu he didn't know and instead he suggested another dish. We asked if there was any veggies on it and he said no, so we asked for a side dish of veggies. When we had our plate, the salmon plate did have veggies on it, however, after eating our second bite, the person eating it had to pull out a hair out of his mouth. We told the server and he asked us to get something else instead. We went a talk to management about it but it seems that the respond was very poor on his behalf.
Little to say that we were very disappointed on how the whole situation was handled. We as customers expect excellence on the dining experience and know that sometimes there are some situations that can happen while doing it, however, this time there were many at the same time which can only tell that there is a poor management involved when running your business.
