Harryman's is a comfortably reliable neighborhood place - with some adventurous dishes. My wife loves the sous vide chicken; I like the shrimp and grits. Harryman's had a nice Sun review; it faulted the service for being slow. We didn't see that, maybe management reacted (it was only a few days after the review issued). Our complaint is that they routinely spread guests over many rooms (there are at least 5) and you do get the feeling that the place is empty. Worth a trip though.
I find the food to be a bit uneven. I agree with the review in the Balt Sun-the hostess wasn’t friendly. Perfunctory perhaps. Our server was fine, attentive and our orders were correct. The food was just ok. I’ve been there before, and had a good meal. Overall, I find dining there to be an uneven experience
The food was wonderful but the service was not good .After 45 minutes we had to ask if we even had a server!
Been here many times. Went on the occasion of a birthday. Brunch was being served, and it was just 'ok'. I wish I could say it was better. The brunch potatoes were very oily, however; the fried green tomatoes, roasted oysters, and Caesar salad were outstanding. The eggs, well....were eggs. Nothing that interesting. Server was good, although, we waited a while for someone to come to the table to get our order....then waited another while for the brunch to be served. It wasn't that complicated, so I don't understand the wait. I will say, there are few options for vegetarians and vegans. I am most surprised in today's setting there aren't more of these options available, other then putting vegetables on pasta.
Harryman never disappoints. Great food as always. The Berger cheesecake was top notch!
My husband and I went to dinner for dinner on Saturday night. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. I was disappointed that we were not seated in the main dining room because it has more ambiance but it turned out fine. Our server was helpful, pleasant and attentive. All of our dishes were delicious and we even had leftovers. We will definitely be back!
Kudos to our waiter. He noticed I left most of my butternut squash soup and brought me cream of crab without a word from us. He also accommodated my request for one scoop of ice cream instead of the generous three scoop bowls usually dispensed. My husband loved his phyllo vegi-rolls and his squash entree. It was good to see a couple options for vegan and vegetarian customers.
The butternut squash bisque was as thick as applesauce. The flavor was unremarkable. Basically it was too thick to enjoy. My roast chicken entree had a delicious sauce, but some of the meat was still bloody, so the entree was not a hit with me. The cherry chocolate ice cream was wonderful.
As we are frequent customers of the restaurant, we will return, but perhaps not as soon as usual.
As usual, very good. We will be back on every trip to Maryland
Neighborhood gem. Always a good meal. Fun to run into friends. Staff is great! We only sit in the bar just for the action!
Every bite of the Valentine's Week menu was delicious, and the drinks were tasty, too.
Host were not very friendly or welcoming.(black young man)
Lamb chops were small, but flavorful.
Waiter forgetful, but very nice and professional.
By the way....I'm black and have going there off and on for a long time.
Was not as good as it normally is. I think it had more to do with the mediocre service we got . Waitress was barely involved and that’s not at all typical for Harrymans. Overall, was less than stellar which it usually is
One of the best meals in recent memory! The salad, the ciopinno, the apple dessert and the wine were all outstanding!
We were a party of 7 with three children who range from 5 to 13 and are extremely well behaved in a restaurant. Server started out well but slowed down considerably throughout our dinner which started at 5:45 and ended around 8 pm. 2 pizzas 1 sandwich 3 Kids meals and 1 special menu pasta along with 2 desserts 1 salad and one soup came to approx $200 with tip. We did not have to pay extra for the long blonde hair entwined in the accompanying vanilla ice cream and were offered another scoop (most probably from the same tub) which we declined, but accepted the servers apology. WHY DID I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE HAIRY ICE CREAM!!! As a Reisterstown resident for more than 30 years we have had several parties and many dinners and lunches at Harryman over this span. Don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon. Don’t know why I should ingest someone else’s DNA.
We always have a great time and delicious food! Food is always good and the desserts are great. Especially the toll house cookie pie with ice cream!
Used to enjoy it all, but last time it was bad. Saturday night, full house to be expected, so have enough staff, right? No way, we had to wait for every step of the dinner, total time 2h45min for standart limited choices of the Restaurant week. Mahi mahi did not have any flavor, beet salad was too small for the price, although desert was delicious. They will have to earn us back.
I made 1130 reservation. The African male seems to be the host or whatever his title it does not give him the rights to ignore customers. No greetings, not even acknowledgment. Seems like he knows the couple who walked in, even though we were there first. He could have acknowledged we exist. Not a single courtesy, except where do we want to sit.i am a restaurant manager myself. Have been a local from reisterstown and this was a to go for us . If it wasn't for my friends birthday we would have left. The waiter did not even introduce herself, did not come back to check on us if everything was ok. Then the wine has a hair on it. If I did not check out the cheque she would have not taken off the wine ..advised to management : train your people good service . I would have reprimand him. Not good. Very rude! I don't think we will come back. Food was ok. Can do better..
Great service, great food and atmosphere was awesome.
Excellent as always. The pasta sauce was a little heavy, it was the carbonara. The people behind us were a little noisy.
We are regulars at the Grill because we enjoy the food and the staff. Last night was no exception. The “special” was fantastic and the server was very personable and took good care of us.
This was my first time experiencing the brunch. Thoroughly pleased. I will return in the future.
We had went there for brunch and the food was great, the hostess was not friendly at all but our server made up for it.
Host 20 years older than me called me ma'am 5 times in 1 sentence...very pedestrian
Strip steak way too blubbery
Stuffed potato pre-made. You could not get fresh broccolini
I only dined there b/c it's close
So easy for the food to be better
It was an enjoyable dinner from start to finish. Good table, we each enjoyed our meals and our server was most attentive to our needs. Will definitely return.
Excellent food and service! Will come back again
We stopped by at lunchtime. We asked to sit in the bar area. Even though it was very busy and the only staff member was a single bartender, he hustled and we had great service. Orange crushes are delicious! The food was perfect. Another great meal at Harryman House.
Harryman House is one of our favorite restaurants. We have always enjoyed a delicious meal and excellent service. It never lets us down.
Love Love Love it here!! Awesome local place to eat & drink.
Wonderful setting in old log cabin home. Bread delicious as were salads, lobster ($20 special on Thursdays), filet and crab cakes. Good selection of wine flights
Great quaint little spot away from the hussle and bussle but not too far. Great menu and service!
Service was outstanding. The food was good but a little salt. I ordered the half chicken and it somewhat salty.
The food was amazing. The service was amazing. A little pricey but worth it.
Very comfortable setting. Love the ambiance of the old building. Food was presented very nicely.
We had heard of the good food and atmosphere at Harryman House for years, but just never made it there until last week. I wish we hadn’t waited so long! The food, service (Laura our waitress was wonderful), and atmosphere all added up to a great dining experience. We will definitely be back soon!
We've been going to The Harryman House for years. I have always enjoyed with the food, but it wasn't up to par this time. Hot rolls, no butter, had to wait to even get noticed to ask for butter. Portions were good sized, but staff not as attentive as in prior visits. They were not busy, so I am not understanding having to find the waiter. We will see how the next year plays out.
We live close by and frequently have lunch or dinner at Harryman Grill. Our out of town friends loved the scallops and my husband loved the cobb salad (felt it was a bit small). I had the lobster and it was good, but not much to eat.
Food and service were excellent. We love the ambiance of this neighborhood gem.
Harryman is our neighborhood go to restaurant. Although we find it a bit on the expensive side for what we order, the food is consistently good as is the service.
