The Greenhouse Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Everything was so delious. Starting with our cocktails. Our waitress was knowledgeable and gave great suggestion. She even stuff my olives with blue cheese for my Martini. The menu is eclectic but worth stepping out of your comfort zone to taste very yummy food. The rosemary frites...wow! Lamb burger is fabulous. Definitely give Greenhouse Tavern a whirl.
I’ve been here many times but this last one didn’t quite make the grade. The waitress seemed distracted and disinterested. Food was not quite as good as usual, seemed less flavorful compared to the norm! This is ALWAYS my go to place when I have guests that have not been there before. This time was very underwhelming.
I was really looking forward to dinner with my son, as my husband and I had an exceptional meal here in the summer. We were in a rush to see a show, and our server went above and beyond to get our order in, as well making food suggestions which we really appreciated. Cocktail of the day was very disappointing, not worth the $12 in my opinion. Lamb burger was way too oniony, totally lacking, bu also a little dry. The over the top fries with egg and gravy were way too salty. Brussels sprouts were delicious.
Overall really disappointing ting, even if the order was rushed, there was no excuse as far as I’m concerned. I work in the food industry, and believe it was someone who just didn’t care.
Sadly Very Disappointed! We've gone to Greenhouse many times in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed everything. We even had a large surprise birthday party there several years ago and it was excellent. But our last experience was not a good one. Last Saturday was supposed to be a special 21st birthday dinner for our son. Our 2 orders of Ciopinno were $35. each...they were cold and had next to nothing on the plate...we returned them. Then ordered the pork dish and it was good. My sons steak was ordered med rare came out as rare (literally very red through out and bloody). Our server said " It looks med rare to me". We returned it and my son enjoyed the Med rare. At 7:00PM they were out of several dishes. Our server while possibly not intentional had very argumentative replies through out our dinner. I personally found this offensive. Felt the $200+. was definitely not worth the frustration. While I have many nice memories of dining here I'm sad to say we will not be going back.
At first we were a little nervous and unsure about the menu and sitting next to others that close but after ordering and eating and the drinks we are definitely going back. Like I said a little outside of our comfort zone but felt right at home very quickly.
Lamb loin special was spectacular. A friend had the "Pork and Pie' and it was impressive. I've always had the pot de creme for dessert and branched out to try the French silk pie. The pie was good--and visually beautiful, but not as good as the pot de creme.
Service was friendly and added to a great evening.
Celebrated New Year's Eve with family and a great Greenhouse meal. Service was outstanding, and food never disappoints. Wings and squash for appetizers and a variety of dishes for dinner. Best burger I ever had, and others in our party loved the lamb chop/pork chop, and rigatoni.
We traveled from Rhode Island to visit family, this was my choice as a great location for dinner. I’ve followed the restaurant and chef as a friend from the Culinary Veg Institute. Amazing tasting. Had the chicken wings, clams and beef tartar. Lamb burgers were classic. The diverse menu allows any option from small bites to a amazing full entree. Desserts were amazing, recommend the Pot de cream. 5 Stars!
We really liked the preparation of the food. The crispy wing appetizer was very unique with the lemon flavor. Our waitress was very sociable and knowledgeable about drink pairings, popular items on the menu, and very considerate of giving her guests about proper space. This made it a comfortable environment, while in a packed environment.
While we were in town for a Basketball game, my father and I had dinner at Greenhouse. The service was good, as was the food. However, my single complaint was the value/price of the food. The steak and hamburger we had were overpriced, but would still recommend the Greenhouse Tavern to a friend.
Definitely worth the drive - we drove over an hour to sit in the basement (yes - the basement) at the counter where we could watch the kitchen cook some amazing food. The brussel sprouts are amazing - and definitely order the wings. You won't go home hungry and will be happy with your bill.
We will be going back there again!!!
Lots of interesting offerings. I'm so smitten with the lamb burger that it's hard for me to branch out to other choices. But I always try what my friends order--and it is all good.
Don't miss the chicken wings. Don't miss the lamb burger. Best Cesar salad I have ever had.
Not a bad meal, but didn't meet my (admittedly high) expectations. I think I went in based on how the menu looked online. Unfortunately they didn't match. Then one of the things I really wanted was 86'd. Then.... It just didn't blow me away at all. I mean it was OK... nothing was BAD... But nothing was GREAT either. Top Tip: Bring your own chopsticks to eat the pig ears. Forks don't work, so I had to use fingers and they are a hot mess so you look like a hobo in there sucking on your fingers. Not that I minded... They were good.
We had a last minute reservation and the only seating available was at the Bar in the basement, which turned out to be the best surprise! We were seated right in front of the kitchen staff, and were able to see exactly how the food was prepared, which was super fun! They were playing music also, that was more fun and less fine dining which we enjoyed. It felt like a private event with the chef! The food was incredible and the seasonal drinks were fantastic! It was my first time at Greenhouse, and I will absolutely be back!
The service (Alice) was outstanding for a busy Friday night at 8:00pm. The small plates and appetizers were very good and with ability to mix and match for a table share was the best option. The wine selection was great but a bit on the pricey side and their cocktail list was a bit short. But with a full bar, you can order whatever you like. The beer and whiskey/bourbon list was extensive as well with a great selection of upper brands.
My only negative was the size of the main entrees. While selecting the seared duck breast sounded great and it did taste good, the portion left a lot to be desired for $34 (four small strips). The other entree was the special of the night "sea scallops" and again should have been bigger for the price paid.
$300 tab for 4 people.
Overall a good place and food and alcohol selection were very ample.
Give it a try and judge for yourself
The food, beer list and wine by the glass were all every good. The service was good. The atmosphere is nice and the location is great. My only disappointment is that I chose it because I was anxious to try the Vegan Barbecue. It is no longer on the menu but it's still listed online as being on the dinner menu. I felt a bit cheated. I just looked again and it's still listed even though our waiter told us that they were supposed to take it off the online menu. It's a nice place and I would consider going there again.
Our server, Alice, was outstanding. She patiently took the time to walk us through the menu and offer suggestions along the way. The wings were some of the best we'd ever had! She helped us choose the perfect bottle of wine to complement our meals as well. We can't wait to come back to the Greenhouse again to enjoy the excellent service, food and dining experience!!!
