Went in for brunch. The bread for the avocado toast was raw. The wings which usually is tender to the point where the meat falls off of the bone were dry. Don't get me wrong, I love The Greenhouse tavern. It is one of my favorite places to grab dinner. I have been going there for years. Unfortunately, brunch today felt like I was at a different restaurant. A positive thing is that the staff was super friendly and understanding. I hope in the future brunch there improves because any time I get the opportunity to visit The Greenhouse tavern is always good time for me!
Probably some of the worst food I’ve ever had I’m a chef and I’ve traveled all over United States is absolutely the worst
We enjoyed ourselves but I felt a little disappointed overall given the pricing and critical acclaim. The ambiance is nice and the service was outstanding, but the food was a little bit of a letdown. We ordered the boudin balls, and they were didn't seem to contain much sausage and were a little bland. Sort of like boudin flavored hush puppies. The pommes frites first came out cold, then the second batch was sufficiently hot but just average in texture and flavor. The aioli for dipping was great, though. My wife got the Halibut special and REALLY enjoyed it so that one was a win, but my dry aged spare ribs, though plentiful in portion, were a little tough still and kind of a lot of work to cut from the bone with the dull knive they provided. The cornbread wedges were nice but not particularly interesting, and there was no vedge included at all. They were out of the banana split for desert, which was a bummer, so we had the lemon preserves, which was pretty good.
OMG the food was mind blowing!!!
Great, quick, friendly service
It was a cousins bachelorette party and we went for brunch.
Tiny tables for 2. People coughing all over our food. The waiter for the table next to us behind was in our face the whole time. The bread was burnt and the alcoholic drinks were in a tiny cups. The chicken wings confit were good and our waiter was awesome. As long as you dont order the Tabasco chicken, drinks, try to have a conversation or sit at a 2 person table, you should be good.
The menu is heavily vegetarian/vegan, but there are a few meat dishes. But it was fine with me because they have a great eggplant sandwich which is one of my favorites. The restaurant is in an old store, so it is a bit noisy for lunch, and the seating is limited. I chose not to sit at a table in the former store's front display window. The young lady who served us was excellent and attentive. Overall, a very enjoyable lunch.
We were a family of four visiting Cleveland and chose Greenhouse based on reviews. We dined at 2:00pm and wanted either lunch or dinner, but only brunch was available on Sunday. However, the kitchen accommodated my request for a lamb burger and it was delicious. The bun was soggy from the side salad I requested, but it is normally served with fries. Banana pancakes and chicken waffles were very good. There is a rooftop bar that looked fun, but we dined in the main dining room. The bartender, who was also our server, was great and makes a delicious Bloody Mary.
We visited on one of the hottest days of the year, and apparently the A/C wasn't working. Despite eating in the heat, we enjoyed our meal.
We LOVE Greenhouse Tavern for dinner, but we were really disappointed with the brunch offerings. There weren't many and lots of them were things that we had seen on both the lunch and dinner menu already...
Overall very disappointed. Food was way too salty and too spicy.
The restaurant, food, service and drinks were amazing. The only issue is that the restaurant was uncomfortably hot. It made the whole experience less enjoyable
Our waiter, Kevin, was great. The chicken wings blew our minds, and the drinks were some of the best we’ve ever had. Loved everything.
The food was excellent and the server was knowledgeable and friendly. The only problem, but a major problem, was that the air conditioner was broken when we dined on a very warm summer evening. The temperature in the restaurant read 80 degrees on the thermostat. It was hard to enjoy our dining experience.
Our waiter was great. We will ask for him all the time... Kevin. Food was excellent.
Very friendly staff. Creative, flavorful food. No name frites are worth the trip alone.
Everything about the meal was fine. The food was a little overworked and underwhelming.
Been several times. Never disappointed. Wings are amazing. Must try. Service is great! Highly recommend.
As a group of 5, we were taken up a back staircase, which had small tubs of dirty dishes on them, to the upper balcony. Our server seemed nice & attentive until we mentioned that our salad was a bit overdressed. Wasn’t even asking to send it back, just an FYI. Our server said sometimes that happens....not ‘oh sorry’, not ‘would you like another ‘...just a shoulder shrug and let’s move on. Next one of our party said their drink didn’t seem to have much, if any, alcohol. No, we were told, that doesn’t happen. The trifecta was every plate that had fries, the fries were not even barely warm. All room temperature, at best. While the food was very good, we couldn’t help but think that a restaurant experience, particularly for a James Beard award-winners restaurant, should have much better service and response.
My fiancé and I have been going to Greenhouse since we started dating three years ago. Our favorite dish has always been the chicken wings however tonight they were off. There was no garlic and the wings were dry. Still good but disappointing compared to what we have been used to getting. Now that’s off my chest, get the new chicken and biscuits! I never get chicken as my main course because I have always thought I can make this at home. However this was the most moist and delicious chicken I have ever had. Oh and there is a confit chicken leg to boot. We will definitely be back with the hope that they were just having an off night with wings.
Our server was awesome!
Our service was awesome. Our waitress was very kind and her recommendations for food were amazing. We got the veggie burger and brussel sprouts. The veggie burger was amazing! It literally tasted like a real burger. Our waitress said it reminds her of a healthy big mac and I totally agree. The sauce on the burger was super yummy. I could eat the bruseel sprouts every day they were so good. This is a great healthy food option. I cannot stop thinking about the veggie burger and will be coming back soon.
Great food, wonderful service, and cool atmosphere. I would definitely come back!
Meal was too salty & waitress got order mixed up
Food and service were excellent. However, it was at least 80 degrees in the restaurant. We sat there sweating and using the menus as fans. If we weren’t such a large party, with a later reservation, we might have left. Although the food was worth staying for.
Clearly surpassed our expectations! The wings were out of this world! So tender and sweet. Ramen noodles never tasted this good (in college or ever!) Beer selection was outstanding. Would come back again soon!
It. Was. Fabulous. The opportunity to choose from a number of small plates was just what we were looking for in celebrating Father's Day. David, our server, was quite helpful in describing the dishes and helping us make our choices. We opted for: crispy pigs ear (photo), chicken wings, Brussels sprouts, and for dessert the steak tartare (photo). We WILL be back.
Father’s Day brunch. The waiter was very nice. The brunch selection was very limited. The French toast was dry. Their AC was not working on a 90 degree day. It was very hot. We asked if the corn dogs were a good choice for the kids, and the waiter said they would be good, they came out with hot sauce on them. The kids wouldn’t eat them so they did remake them without the hot sauce. The pancakes were not cooked enough. I think their dinners are unbelievable, but their brunch menu needs some help.
Food was average at best, way too many onions on the lamb burger. The pig ears were very good.
The food and service was just terrific, and in a fun and casual atmosphere! Five stars all around!!! I’m looking forward to our next visit!
We choose to make Greenhouse Tavern our go-to place in Cleveland. We value quality in food and service over quantity.
Service, food, and hand crafted cocktails were all on point. I can’t wait to go back
This was our second visit in a week visiting Cleveland. Both males were exceptional, I had the pork chop the first visit and the clams on the second and the flavors were incredible
Great meal with unique food options. We sat upstairs and it was quite warm. The fans were on and helped with airflow but it was warm. Our server was attentive and helpful. It wasn’t loud but we were the only ones seated at the time. A large party came in as we were finishing up and so the noise level increased. Go early if you want a quiet meal.
Sat outside at communal table. Everything was delicious! Had steak tartare app to split and my husband loved the burger. Ramp pesto pasta was interesting (in a good way!)
Perfect, great ambiance.. private table excellent service and the food was amazing
Really great meal - wings are a must-have, as are the brusselsprouts.
Everything was amazing, from service to food! Definitely a meal to remember!
Loved it! We are outside during cavs playoffs. Fabulous experience. Great location. Great food
