Loved it!! They always have such great food. The wings are out of this world!! We also had the popcorn pot de cream for dessert... oh goodness it was delicious!
Great food, fantastic service down to earth but out of this world when it comes to the food!!! Plus one of the Greatest things happened. It was my birthday this past Saturday, and for the first time I had the pleasure of meeting one of my role models Chef Sawyer. Even though he was busy doing an event he found it in his heart to take time out of his very busy hectic day to stop over and take a picture with me!... It was very inspiring to me in the fact that I am hoping that one day I can own my own restaurant and be close to him culinary wise! I have cerebral palsy and that was a kick in the butt telling me not to give up on my dreams and what I want and thrive for which is to make people happy with food!!! Thank you so much Chef Sawyer I really appreciate it!!!
Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food came out very quickly. Food and accompaniments had good flavors but very salty. Brussel sprouts, chicken wings, and pigs ears were all overpowered by salt. Summer salad was served with fresh ingredients, but was almost warm, like it had been at the service window too long. Very loud at 8pm, difficult to have a conversation with someone at the same table.
Don't think the kitchen was having their best night. The wings which we always adore were super salty. I got the brussel sprouts which are supposed to be a "must have" normally. Well they were overly salty and heavily doused in balsamic vinegar-- these are 2 seasonings that I really enjoy. Not this time as they went way overboard on both. The gravy frittes were super.
Food is good. Nice menu! I always enjoyed the food... This time I was disappointed by the restaurant’s unwillingness to accommodate an additional guest! We had to finish our appetizers and our bottle of wine in less than one hour! Well... we ended up finishing our dinner at another restaurant!
Great comfort food. Fried chicken and pork shop was very good.
I liked the per ounce scotch list. The foie gras was hard to find in the clam dish. The duck dish was skimpy. The wings were very generous. Our daughter is a vegetarian and found many things to choose from. SHe liked the cauliflower dish.
The good news is that 1 of 4 meals, (pork chop) was excellent, the other 3 were just poorly executed. The duck confit was dry, the $48 lamb chop was over cooked and the salt level was very high, the burger was simply unremarkable. At the price point for this meal one would expect much more. We really wanted to like the GHT and I might actually go back for another try. There’s getting to be a fair number of good restaurants in Cleveland so GHT needs to take note. Our server, Joshua and the cocktails were very good. Once again, the pork chop was a winner.
Great as always! Everytime I go it's the same, great food & great service. I try something new everytime and I'm never disappointed!
Excellent meal and service. A+
My wife and I had a great dinning experience at The Greenhouse Tavern. Kevin our waiter, suggested the favorites of the restaurant - Chicken wings confit, it was incredible. I also had the Barrel aged Tabasco fried chicken and my wife had the Veggie burger, both were outstanding. We will not wait so long to come back!
Best burger I have ever had and the mushroom dish my fiancé had was outstanding
I love this place! Food is seasonal and cooked perfectly. The drinks are refreshing. And its very clevelandesque! Check it out!
We checked in about 20 minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was super friendly, down to earth, and was honest about what’s good on the menu- a quality not all servers have but a good quality to have! Our service was great, food came out fast, and was amazing. As someone who works in the service industry, it’s easy for me to nitpick certain things. Everything was outstanding!
Took my 27 year-old son, two of his friends, other older son and wife before Tribe game. Place was switching from Brunch to Happy Hour menu but server said we could get brunch. Were seated on the second floor which makes it tough on server as there really is no serving station to speak of. Two people got salads, one got brunch, the others ordered burgers (beef, lamb, veggie). We ordered pommes frites for apps. Drinks came first. $12 bloody mary was OK but pricey and a bit small. Beer selection was good. Our server was attentive. Salads came first, then my burger. Brunch as well other burger did not come for several minutes. Server had to run down the stairs to check on it, go downstairs to get ketchup, etc. Did not realize that fries came with burgers and should have asked or been asked if I wanted something different since had two orders as appetizers. Veggie burger was a blob of whatever veggies that did not stay together. I'm sure it was healthy. I like this place for what they try to be but they just didn't get it right this time.
Went for our 1 year anniversary and it did not disappoint. As always, wings and Brussels were highlights. First time getting dessert and it was amazing (and vegan)!
I would probably go for a meat based entree next time, even though what we ordered was very good (but after the wings it’s tough to be better)
Will definitely be back sometime when in town.
First off the server was amazing. He knew everything about the restaurant and his opinions were bang on. He made great suggestions and he was the main reason that our meal was perfect. The food was very good. We shared the brussel sprouts and chicken wings which were good but the Gnochetti sardi was to die for. My wife thought it was a little salty but i could eat that every day. it was fantastic. I need to go back now and try other things from the menu.
We return to Greenhouse again and again and are rewarded every time by the unique selections, wonderful food selections and unpretentious atmosphere and service. Our server, Merissa (I think; sorry!), was wonderfully attentive and enhanced our experience with her friendly demeanor and attitude. We enjoyed lunch for this meal at GH. The fried chicken sandwich was excellent, the lamb burger is always a winner, and the hot buttered popcorn pot de creme tops off every meal we enjoy at GH. Amazing beer selection is also very much appreciated. This place brings it every time.
Amazing lamb burger. Great service, our server was thoughtful and observant. Great relaxed atmosphere. Desserts were creative. Great wine selection too.
We enjoyed our dinners! The pig ears appetizer was amazing! I had the brioche chicken and was so surprised by the presentation! Delicious!
Service was super! Kevin was a superstar! Beef short ribs were awful and tasteless. Strip steak was cooked well and taste was fair at best. Best part of the meal were the frites. Very disappointing meal.
Always a pleasurable experience - my wife enjoyed the seasonal corn dish and I had the lamb burger - both were excellent
Ordered a beef burger. Burger had no sear on it, it was grey on the outside, therefore it had no flavor. The tomato on it had no flavor. The piece of lettuce was placed directly under the beef patty so it was covered in grease. The waitress asked how my burger was, I replied unenthusiatically that it was ok. She hesitated, said ok and left, never to be near my table again. Someone, (manager?) cleared my plate. I said the tomato was flavorless, he responded that that it was local. Burger, wings and a drink were $44 bucks. As far as I could tell, no one (cooks included) cared about what they were doing. Not going back.
Overpriced for the taste and value. Limited menu. Worse steak I’ve ever had at a high end restaurant.
Great service and food. We ate upstairs and the waitress was an expert at explaining each item on the menu. Highly recommend. And try the brussel sprouts!
The food and service were very good. The wait staff were very helpful with questions about the menu choices. Being from out of town we really appreciated it.
Don't worry as you approach. This gem is nestled among a generous amount of what I would call average restaurants along what appeared to be a "restaurant row". After a ball game, outdoor seating filled with fans. But venture in and enjoy a truly delicious meal. Flavors, choices were all way above average. Our waitress was attentive and we had a very nice evening. Entrees ranged from a gourmet hamburger to fish en papiotte. I had a delicious pasta dish that hit the mark! The inside is not fancy, but come for the food!
The Greenhouse Tavern is fantastic! The food was to die for! They even had gluten free options that my mother was able to enjoy. I highly recommend the Braised Short Ribs and the chicken wings apitizer fell off the bone.
It was a great experi now overall. Service could have been better. I had requested a few special items in my reservation on yelp that was overlooked and not mentioned at all. Food was fantastic and would recommend to anyone looking for unique and different.
Our second time celebrating an anniversary there. It was extraordinary both times. Excellent and knowledgeable service and amazingly delicious and creative food in a completely unpretentious atmosphere. Easily the best meals we’ve ever had. We will be back.
I had the most delicious bowl of ramen ever! This is one of many meals out during a 10-day vacation. It was, by far, the best of them all. Thought the VCR thing was pretty cool, too.
I have visited GHT many times, and it was such a pleasure to introduce 3 friends to this exceptional dining experience! The confit chicken wings and foie gras clams are always amazing! Our server, Kevin, was just the best: friendly, informative, honest (recommended a $10 glass of wine instead of the $13 option). We all want to come back soon, and Kevin will be requested!!
Wonderful birthday dinner. It was my first time to greenhouse and I brought 6 of my friends to share the pig's head and more!! Food was phenomenal and Alice was a fantastic server. Party on!
In town for the triathlon and found the restaurant on Open Table. What a gem. The area is great fun, the building eclectic, and the food outstanding and unique. Rarely do I find a dish where I anticipate every bite. So creative!
Drinks are crafted perfectly! The shrub cocktail was just what I needed. I always get the Brussels and wings, they are super unique and to die for. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable.
It was a lovely evening!
We thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals. We started with the beef tartare and halibut en papillote. We finished with the French silk pie and the buttered popcorn pot de creme. Everything was wonderful! Unfortunately, the power went out on the opposite side of the street, so Pickwick & Frolic ended up performing the comedy show on the street and there were about 10 people behind us smoking on the sidewalk. I highly doubt we will be dining al fresco on the south side of the patio in the future.
First time here, really enjoyed the food and drinks. We sat outside and enjoyed people watching while we ate. Brittany was our waitress and was very attentive and helpful. Recommend the fries with gravy. Awesomesauce
Going to Greenhouse Tavern was on the bucket list for my husband and I for almost 5 years! Ever since we saw the “no name frites” voted the best bar food... in CLEVELAND. What!? How did we not know this? We had to go. Next, we would be introduced to Chef Sawyer on th food network and see how he is a fan/supporter of all things Cleveland— OHIO! We were now super fans.
Fast forward, I make reservations to go to celebrate my husband’s birthday; he did not know. In fact, on our way to dinner, walking around town, someone asked us for food recommendations. My husband says “we are big fans of Greenhouse Tavern!” - even though we’d never been there yet! Little did he know, about 1/2 hour later, we would be seated at that very restaurant. At first glance of the menu, we both panicked, agreeing that we must have one of everything. Yes, that was it, one of everything. It was at that point when we met Kevin, who we now know as our “Culinary Sherpa” (server). Now, being super fans, we chatted it up with Kevin wanting to know all of the details, history, inside scoop, recommendations. I think we kept him longer than he maybe wanted but you would’ve never known it; he was wonderful!! We discussed our one of everything plan with him, and he gently lead us to start small and build up based on our taste buds, etc. - see? Culinary Sherpa.
We ended up getting a total of 6 “firsts” and “seconds”. The very first bite - the brussel sprouts, left us both speechless. Uh huh, over brussel sprouts. The flavors seemed to dance on every taste bud in your mouth, somehow being extremely satisfying as well as mouth-watering (literally) for more! As we worked course through course, we were hard pressed for conversation as we were both repeatedly making “this tastes so dang good” moans and groans. Kevin continued to clear our plates, which let’s be honest... we’re already scraped and/or licked clean. Wish I had more space to write, but arguably the BEST meal we’ve ever had.
This was our first visit to Cleveland for a sporting event. Researched this restaurant as having gluten free items. We sat outside which was very nice for the evening. The restaurant is on a street that is blocked to just walking traffic. Then, the waitress began the adventure. She brought menus and dropped them off. Was very abrupt when we were asking questions about the drink menu. The evening went downhill after that. It seemed that she wanted to over speak us when we were asking our questions. The short story is this. We did not like the restaurant. We had the brussel sprouts which were touted as the best. They were cooked in some sort of sweet sauce. Then, we had the wings that they raved about--blah. My husband had the fish wrapped in paper which was extremely bland. The best part of the dinner was the dessert.
