Always working hard to be at the forefront of the rustbelt revolution the team at The Greenhouse Tavern is constantly looking for ways to innovate in the city, the kitchen, and on the menu.
It closed unfortunately before we got to visit for the final time! This was a staple when we visited Cleveland, so sad it closed. It was always 5 star to me
It's hard to write a review for an anniversary dinner when the restaurant went out of business on short notice.
The restaurant closed a couple days before Valentine’s Day, when my reservation was for Valentine’s Day. This was a planned closure and they shouldn’t have been taking reservation. Left me without dinner plans on Valentine’s Day.
It closed a week before our reservations. So you tell me how it is.
Trash. Cancelled before Valentine’s Day.
Totally ruined our Valentine's day evening by going out of business prior to 2/16 like was reported. They could have said something like they were considering closing when they took the reservation. That customer service was less than Bush league. We have never been there and judging by this fiasco no wonder all the restaurants they open go out of business. Thanks for nothing !!!
This stupid place closed before we could even go there.
Mr sawyer decided to sell gift cards then screw all the people who supported his establishments over the years, way to go john take peoples money and run with it, great business 101 plan👍
They went out of business the night before we were supposed to go
The restaurant closed its doors before our reservation. Now we have $300.00 in gift cards we can’t use.
Made a reservation and was informed by Open Table that they closed the restaurant for good with only minutes until our reservation time. We also lost the use of our gift card.
They were sure glad to accept the $100 for a gift card purchased there, but closed their doors before we could use it so we are the saps who are out $100.
GHT announced earlier in the week that they’d be closing permanently, so we hurried to make a reservation to use a gift card we’d received for Christmas.
We woke up on the day of our scheduled dinner to news reports that the restaurant had overestimated their final date and shuttered all operations the night before. That part is understandable.
What is not (and the bigger shame) is that we had to find out on the news that we’d need new plans for dinner. There was no phone call, email, or any other notification to guests. The website and Facebook pages had disappeared. The phone line to the restaurant rang indefinitely, without even a simple courtesy recorded message. I’m annoyed; but if we’d driven the hour to dinner only to find locked doors and dark windows, I’d be livid.
Shame on you, Chef Sawyer. The staff deserved far better than this, as do the diners who wanted to celebrate a local favorite one last time.
Restaurant went out of business the day before my reservation and didnt contact me to say they stopped service
They closed a week early so I was not able to go. Also- I was going to is a gift card that was purchased in December but now am stuck with it. Very disappointed!!
Super disappointed. I’d heard so many great things and this place was absolute trash. The atmosphere was somewhere between aged IKEA and a vintage record store. The staff was basically everyone you wouldn’t want to see at a coffee shop. The service was slow and lackluster. And the food...ugh. My entree tasted like flat dog meat on top of chewy noodles. The burger “is kind of like a Swensons burger”, said the waitress. Turns out, it actually WAS except more expensive and less tasty. If this place wasn’t closing already, I’d never go back. Based on my experience, I know exactly why it’s shuttering the doors.
So very sad it closed. Very happy we were able to dine there one last time
Greenhouse Tavern is a amazing restaurant. Full stop: Amazing
Great food, great service!
Have dined here before and was better in the past. Disappointed in the meal this trip. I will be back but expected better for a Thursday night in January that was not crowded
Excellent food and company! We enjoyed a few bottles of wine before the theatre
The host and our server were both great and very attentive. Atmosphere was also enjoyable (eclectic & different from other restaurants in the area). Drinks were good, but it was by far the smallest martinis we have ever been served in a restaurant. Brussels sprouts were great, everything else was OK (burger, wings, pork and loaded fries). This place was recommended to me by a co-worker so I was eager to try and had high hopes. The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good enough to win me over and come back again. There are better options on East 4th to entertain for dinner before The Greenhouse Tavern. I won’t go back, but it was definitely worth a try.
The food was good, but we both thought everything could have been seasoned a bit more.
The Greenhouse Tavern has a great reputation and we have had excellent meals in the past, but this night was average at best. On a slow night, the service was slower, food came out warm, not hot and nothing was exceptional. Confit wings were dry as was the pork. Frites were the best part. Will be a while before we return. Maybe stick to the roasted pig head.
Eclectic food. Eclectic atmosphere. Unique experience. If you don’t like unique food. This is not the place for you
Amazing food in a cool space, great choices for vegan, vegetarian, carnivores. Super easy, no judgement. One word: GO!
Was surprised it was easy to get a reservation on short notice for a Saturday night
Had a nice table on main floor beyond bar. Server was cordial and professional. Brought us at our request some bread which arrived slightly grilled and buttered.
We shared the beet salad. Excellent
I had the seesaw burger with frites
Wonderful. Micro beer and martinis were delicious and well presented.
The burger was so good I can’t remember what my wife had for an entree.
Food was great. Lived up to the reputation for the most part. Service wasn’t at the high level expected. It was our first time so we had questions. After ordering we heard our server tell all the tables around us about the chef’s specials for the night, one of which we would’ve ordered. Wasn’t sure why we weren’t told the specials but other than that it was a fine experience. Beer selection was great as well.
Kitchen seating was a an awesome dining experience! Highly recommend it. Buy a kitchen cocktail, ring the bell and see what happens.
Perfect for a business lunch. Just a little on the noisy side, but it was not a issue.
Food was fine, but disappointed they removed the Lamb Burger off of the menu. My husband and I both had the regular burger which was cooked well done (no choice in temperature since it's a thin patty. It was ok but not worth $16. Subbed out Brussel Sprouts instead of Frites and was uncharged $4 each burger (which we were not told ahead of time.). Probably won't be back since the Lamb burger was the main reason we went.
We love the Greenhouse, almost always go there when in downtown Cleveland. The wings are usually to die for. Tonight they tasted like something I could have gotten at Rally’s.
I really wanted to love this place but was disappointed. The menu is limited and the food was very dry, We were told how good the wings were but ours had no sauce and no flavor at all on a few. The pork loin was average, but again, on the dry side. Drinks were average. We were very disappointed as it had been recommended highly to us. Will not be back.
Went for the NYE tasting menu and sadly couldn’t be more disappointed. I lived in Cleveland for years and Greenhouse was one of my favorites, but the tasting menu was not at all representative of what I remember. Everything was cold, lacking flavor, and not paced properly.
Really good- will make
It a spot
The menu had changed drastically from what we saw online and we were a little disappointed in the selections. We had wanted to share appetizers and most of our interests had disappeared. My beet salad was tasty but nothing spectacular. Rabbit ragout was underwhelming. A food runner also brought us another table’s food so the timing of the meal ended up being very off. I did enjoy the confit chicken wings, but we left feeling like we were a little duped.
Went got an anniversary dinner and everything exceeded our expectations. The hostess and server were extremely informative and accommodating.
This is a great place to eat before or after an event Downtown! Great food, great service!
