The menu was printed with our names on it!! From the minute we got there to leaving, a 5 star experience!! My wife and I have dined at our share of 5 star resturants Wilmington, DE has a gem in it. Philly don't be afraid of the drive it will be worth it.

Quite possibly the best dining experience on Delmarva. The food is perfection, the ambience is a genuine century-old, gilded age dining room, and the service is a magical combination of white-glove treatment and personal warmth and charm.

What more can a girl want then go to the Hotel dupont for a special birthday lunch with a friend? We enjoyed the special Centennial lunch there yesterday - 2 courses for $19.13 as part of the hotel's 100th anniversary celebration. I chose the tomato basil soup as my first course - and was so surprised to find a huge bowl of chilled tomato soup with small pieces of fresh vegetables and a scoop of basil sorbet in the middle of the bowl. My second course was a beautifully prepared piece of salmon with a yummy sauce and sauteed baby vegetables over black rice. Emily our waitress, surprised me with a beautiful chocolate torte cake for my birthday - complete with a lit candle! What a lovely gesture!

Overall our experience was pleasant. The staff was courteous. They were aware we had tickets for the show. We were a bit rushed through desert to make the show on time. Also, at the end of the evening we were asked to pay for parking. We were told we should have had the restaurant validate our parking. Since this was our first visit, we didn't know the process, but think the staff could have been more proactive by asking us if we valet parked.

We always enjoy The Green Room at the Hotel duPont! We save this restaurant for special occasions, and this time it was a birthday celebration. We had dinner, then went to see a show at the Theatre, and then went back to the restaurant for dessert. It was a perfect evening and everything was wonderful!!

I live in baltimore. Met a Philadelphia friend to treat her for a fun afternoon. Beautiful room in an historic hotel. Delicious food and great service. Delicious birthday dessert beautifully presented. Be sure to Tour the ballrooms! Went to Winterthur after lunch - only 15 minutes away. Great afternoon!

My husband and I have dined at the Green Room before for special occasions, so we chose it to celebrate our 25th anniversary, knowing we wouldn't be disappointed. We did not know, however, the lengths the restaurant would go to to make our dining experience extra special. We were immediately congratulated when we arrived, and we were seated at one of their best tables. We were given custom printed menus with our names at the top, which were then rolled up and fastened by a silver sticker and given to us to keep. The food was spectacular as usual -- we never have complaints. We were presented with a complimentary dessert at the end of our meal with a lighted candle and a white chocolate placard that said "Happy Anniversary" in it. Wow.

Everything from the ambiance, the service, the food and even the price was excellent for the lunch buffet. They did not have a vegetarian a la carte entree but they prepared one for my wife and it was very good. I requested this through open table. Also, the desserts were spectacular!

My wife and I enjoyed the Chef's 6 course meal w/ wine pairing for the celabratory 100th Anniversary of the Green Room at the fabulous Hotel du Pont, in Wilmington Delaware. The food was exceptional and the wine pairings were well matched. The service was great and of course the Green Room is very elegant.

The service was generally without fault....except for the $50 overcharge on my bill, which was immediately corrected. But the filet and lobster main course was a real disappointment. The steak looked beautiful and while it was tender, it was a little overcooked and had zero flavor, except for the distracting sweet blueberry sauce for the zuccini that the steak was sitting in--yes I'm sure it was blueberry. Oh, and the lobster was tasteless, not even lemon or drawn butter. BUT THE DESSERTS WERE INCREDIBLE. SO, skip the $48 filet and lobster and order a different entree or better yet, just have amazing desserts!

The food was excellent as well as the service!

We were seated immediately at a table near a window. Our server was fantastic and highly recommended a soup that I was iffy about. No regrets here - she was right - it was delicious. They didnt rush us out even though it was lunchtime and the dining room was getting crowded. This is a top notch restaurant with top notch service!

We went there for a Sunday brunch, and weren't as concerned with the food, as much as the historic room and the elegant service. We were very pleased. The piano player added a nice atmosphere, and the noise level was good. The room was about 1/3 full, and there is really only 1 seating (at 11:30) -- and it ends at 1pm. They handled a graduation/birthday request very tastefully, and it was well worth the price for a special memory. The smoked salmon was good - the bread pudding was excellent. the Entrees were just "OK", but acceptable. The service was very attentive. The complimentary Bloody Mary was one of the best I've had in a long time.

Excellent atmosphere, very good food, very good service, staff was cordial and knowledgeable, yet they seated persons wearing jeans and golf shirts mixing them with persons dressed for special occasions such as ours ..our anniversary. It was like fine dining at McDonalds. Either find another room for the "too lazy to dress up crowd" as it is an insult to those of us who expect the staff to follow the rules of Business Casual - Jacket no jeans attire! My suggestion is have another room available for the too lazy to dress up crowd or have "Jackets" for them to wear or turn them away. Who is going to go to a fine dining dinner and spend several hundred dollars on a dinner and wine sitting next to someone in jeans and golf shirt???

The restaurant's ambiance is for the presence of Kings and Queens. The service of the wait staff was extraordinary. Their attentiveness to the details of their guest's needs are really something.The piano music wafting through the air from the loft was extraordinarily the best. The Bloody Mary was the best-ever that one of our family members enjoyed.The food was delicious, including the rib eye special, scallops, crab cake and strip steaks. What was below par were the desserts. The peach melba and the chocolate raspberry and vanila ice cream dish were far from good, despite looking scrumptious. Both desserts were disapointingly too dry. For a celebration or a romantic interlude with money being no object, this is the place to go!

The Green Room has a sterling reputation and a long history. It retains its historic splendor and dignity. Service is friendly, highly professional, attentive. BUT the food doesn't measure up to the rest of the experience. Over a period of 40 years I have averaged fewer than one visit to the Green Room per year because it is an expensive place. However, I have had the opportunity to take a snapshot of quality over this long period. There have been ups and downs, but I think it has drifted into a kind of up-scale mediocrity. Good ingredients, great presentation and appearance, and mediocre flavor. Desserts look splendid but don't taste splendid -- just OK. The luncheon salad bar was unimpressive to say the least. One soup was available.

we are vegetarian and there was nothig much for us in the buffet it usede to be different before.last year was also the same but i did ask when i made reservatio and was hoping to get someting there.
but our server was really very nice i forget her name she really made an efooft to get us pasta by requesting the cheff and when we were done she braugt us a snack an indian one and gave it us as we could not eat that in the end.
we love the ambience ,would like to go there more often but very limited choices for vegetarians so we go where cheff is more creative and give us a very satisfying meal.

Will say up front I hold the Hotel DuPont to a high standard for a brunch like this. Food was fine but not spectacular, but what rattled us was how poor the service was - normally their strength. We were in corner spot by street and our server was slow, not attentive, impolite, and seemingly distracted. Dishes were not removed, silverware not replaced, and water not filled over Fathers Day Brunch. Not even a mention of special day. Even the folks serving at food stations seemed off, and dishes were not labeled, so you hadd to open every tureen to see what was inside. Not mastering the details. All together, it just feels like something is slipping here. The hotel brunch is supposed to feel special and it was just so so.

This Iconic restaurant in Wilmington is a must visit. It is unique and unmatched for it's excellent cusine and atmosphere. The historic dinning room is a feast for the eyes and takes you back to the days of the giants of industry and commerce. My partner and I enjoyed the tasting menu which was a three course selection of outstanding original composition and presentation. Each dish was a work of art.
We received a complementary pre meal shooter which was well enjoyed.
I recommend the Green Room to anyone who is looking for the highest level dining experience in New Castle County and rivals what is available in Philadelphia. I rely on the Green Room to celebrate every important occasion.

Everything about this restaurant was perfect - the menu, food, wine, wait staff/servers, décor, live piano dinner music - but it closes early (9:30 p.m.) for a downtown restaurant, so we felt the need to leave a bit faster than we would have liked. I would absolutely return and recommend this dining establishment.

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. It is in a charming room with lots of character. We started out with crab cakes that were wonderfully presented individually. I had their chickory and pear salad which was delicious and again beautifully presented. The highlight however were the scallops almond crusted which were the best scallops I have ever had. They were a mix of sweet and savory and out of this world delicious!
