We were so disappointed with the food. We felt terrible for our waitress who made every effort to correct multiple issues but she does not have control over a bad kitchen or a bar tender that doesn't know how to make a Martini. Hotel DuPont used to be such a treat but obviously the new ownership has dropped the ball in the Green Room.
The Green Room is a beautiful restaurant that should be the perfect place for any special occasions. It speaks to an era of delicious food and impeccable service. The food was very good, the service was unacceptable. Although the Maitre d was welcoming and professional, the level of service declined from there. The server was intrusive, impatient and easily irritated.
The Sunday brunch in the Green Room is still special after all these years. Live piano was terrific and subdued, but we still miss the harp(ist). It was hard to leave room for the entree or dessert because we enjoyed what the buffet had to offer, especially the shrimp, sushi and French onion soup.
Great crab cake.
Most of us who have grown up in Northern Delaware have visited The Green Room for special occasions and it never fails to impress. The setting, the seasonal decorations and the food were all perfect for our holiday lunch.
Food was average, Service was okay but for the cost, I cannot recommend it. The green room ambiance only goes so far
Quiet setting with spacious tables. Great for good conversation. Food ok, nothing spectacular.
Our waiter was great
My Mother and I enjoyed a wonderful brunch in The Green Room before our Holiday show at the Playhouse. The food was exceptional, service was first-class, and atmosphere was beautiful. We sat next to the piano and enjoyed holiday music with views of the grand Christmas tree. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had! I would highly recommend eating there, especially for a special occasion since it can be pricey for an every day meal. However, it is well worth it!
We have not been to The Green Room for a number of years. The last time we were there, it did not live up to its reputation. This time it did. The food was excellent and the service was very good. The ambiance can't be beat- especially for the Holidays. The tree in the restaurant and the Hotel DuPont lobby are beautiful.
It is pricey-- but for a special moment, worth it.
My second time dining at the Green Room. Always superb!!!

Dinner was delicious. The room was stunning and the service was great. Fantastic night out.
The Green Room is an absolutely amazing restaurant in the heart of Wilmington, Delaware. First, it serves 5-star cuisine at 3-star prices. The taste and texture of the food, the presentation on the plate, and the service are all first class. Second, given its location within the DuPont Hotel, I strongly recommend making reservations for an exceptionally pleasant dinner and theater experience if you plan to attend a show at the hotel's theater.
Food was great, but service was pretty bad. Very slow and they were not busy. I don't like being rushed, but 20mins for drinks is ridiculous and it just got worse as meal progressed. Brought wrong dessert (which was corrected) and items listed on menu but not actually available.
Food, atmosphere, and service was excellent.
I took my family to the green room for brunch. It was our first time there. We were sat promptly, fresh orange and ice water were poured almost immediately. Delicious coffee was served in an elegant cup; and, ice cold mimosas followed.
The buffet was opulent and lacked nothing from baked brie, smoked salmon etc... to fine desserts.
We tend to get used to the predictable omelette but not here: the omelette Chef Brown made was exquisite. Emily, our waitress was relentless in providing us with the best service we ever had.
Anyway, the whole staff of the Green Room made our day.
The overall day was just special from delightful service to special attention to the birthday we were celebrating.
We were expecting a 5 Star restaurant but ended up with a everyday buffet, we we not informed when we made the reservation that this night was comedy night buffet!
The hotel has never been the same since being sold 2 years ago. We have stayed there many times over the past 25 years
Great birthday celebration!
Beautiful elegant dining room. Efficient and friendly service; excellent food. Best of all, quiet enough for conversation! Very expensive but still recommended.
We love the Green Room! We live in Maryland, but travel to Delaware to enjoy the Green Room and Hotel Dupont. Its a gem!
Everydining Experience should be like the Dupont Hotel, you feel like royalty.
The filet was served practically raw. The Caesar salad looked liked I could have made it at home.
The food was just average.
We noted that we had a vegan diner when the reservation was made, no adjustments were made.
We very much enjoy dining in the Green Room, the classic elegance of the room cannot be matched in Delaware. Live piano music adds to the ambience. Dinner was prix fixed and delicious. This night the staff seemed somewhat confused as to serving responsibilities. Bread had to be requested and came late. Two different waiters asked to take our order. While the food was still excellent, it wasn't delivered as efficiently as usual.
The only complaint is that the food wasn't up to a restaurant that is considered a 4 or 5 Class Hotel. The chicken was very dry and portion very small. We were still hungry after lunch, but the Green Room is a very beautiful place and the service outstanding. The food has never been considered fantastic and it has never stopped us from going from time to time over the years.
Room is beautiful. There was enjoyable music that night. The food was very disappointing. Both my husband and my fish were overcooked. Caesar salad was not good with bad romaine and not very good croutons. Dessert choices were limited. Cheesecake or ice cream. Not what you would expect at such an elegant place.
The Green Room is fabulous!! I got married that morning and we went to the Green Room for lunch. The ambiance was spectacular, the service exceptional, and the food was great! We loved it! After our meal, we were surprised (compliments of the chef/staff) with a scrumptious chocolate dessert with congratulations written on the plate. This was so sweet! We will definately be back!
There was a wedding in the hotel when we were scheduled for dinner, and the hotel had not staffed its valet parking to accommodate the crush of people at 6:30 pm, so our friends were late, having had to wait over ten minutes to have their car parked. The service was good, except the waiter did not listen to my friend who had dietary restrictions and never offered a substitute for potatoes which were prepared with garlic. I ordered the bronzino which was too salty. The coffee was very good, but when we asked for refills, it was lukewarm, a poor way to end a dinner that was otherwise pretty good.
Evelina was an excellent waitress. Food was excellent. Beautiful presentation. Not all rushed. Exquisite ambiance. Highly recommend !!
Ok, not what it used to be. Still lovely quiet atmosphere. Food ok, nothing spectacular. Service respectful, but not synchronized. Had to wait for one meal while the rest got cold with a relatively empty dining room.
The room is beautiful - wood paneling, high ceiling, big windows, well-spaced tables - located in a beautiful, historic hotel.
The asparagus bisque was terrific, also generous serving of rare-cooked tuna on the Salad Nicoise. Wine list limited and fairly pricey.
A $45 brunch isn't inexpensive but this place is worth the occasional splurge. Food was very good, the room is a throwback to a prior era. Service is quite attentive. Will look forward to returning.
The dining room is historic. Why would I recommend to a friend - for the experience. Would I rush back - no. It was overall good. Service does not match up to what I would expect from a high-end dining room. It was good. Something you would want to do at least once. Soup was good. Duck was good - not exactly prepared to be a stand out dish - although, the breast was tender and done properly. The steak was good.
atmosphere was incredible, service was impeccable, great value, very pleased
Went for the Alice in Wonderland tea party and was more than pleased. Such a cute well organized fun sweet experience for my family. And the tea sandwiches and especially the pastries were delicious! Can’t wait to go to another one!
From the time we entered the restaurant we were made to feel especially welcome. Not only was the room stunning but the piano player helped us completely let go of our schedule and to-do list - at least for a few hours. Our waitress, Emily, was warm and professional and the Maitre D, Marco, was exceptionally cordial and helpful with suggestions for visiting the area after our meal was over. The food was superb; my only regret was not being able to take advantage of all of the specialties on the beautiful buffet because I was too full and needed to leave room for the gorgeous desserts.
Took the wife here for a date night, and glad that I did. Very good experience, I'm sure we will be back
Always a real treat for me and for my guests. The food is not only presented in a delicable and tastful manner, but also the food is delicious and very well seasoned.
The Green Room is absolutely beautiful! We had a large group and enjoyed brunch. There was a pianist, delicious buffet, nice entree selection, not loud at all. Very nice!!
Outstanding food and very good service. How this restaurant is not filled every night is a big mystery. The best kept secret in post dupont wilmington.
