Outstanding food and very good service. How this restaurant is not filled every night is a big mystery. The best kept secret in post dupont wilmington.
Worst dinner ever. They didn’t have any of the items listed in the menu
Excellent lunch ... love the Hotel for Restaurant Week.
Was not aware that they were having a limited fixed price menu for lunch. It would have been nice to know that in advance that the menu would be limited.
Our servers and waiters were very helpful, attentive and gracious. One even gave us a brief history lesson on the Hotel Dupont and the Green Room. Having recently arrived from Pittsburgh we certainly appreciated the dinner, service and history which all exceeded our expectations!
We had a wonderful time at the Green Room. The service was outstanding and
we all enjoyed our meals. I would recommend the filet, prime NY strip and
Wonderful Sunday night 3 course pre fixe dinner.
As always the Hotel DuPont Green Room comes through as the best of the best.
Had a wonderful stay ate Hotel DuPont then Sunday brunch.
Despite there being exactly 6 people in the (huge) dining room, we waited for over 45 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, my burger, which was supposed to be medium, was well-done (no surprise, since it took so long), and my husband's chicken was tiny, and seemed slightly under-cooked. The bill was in direct relation to the length of time we were there. Not worth it at all.
The Green Room has fallen off from its historical pinnacle for fine dining. It is still the best dining room in 250 miles but the management is sub par. When my wife went to use the restroom, the door was locked with a combination code and she had to go to the front desk like you’d do a a flea bitten gas station. Unbelievable and sorry excuse for a fine dining experience. The menu is still pricey however. Maybe they could afford an attendant ?
Apart from the lovely atmosphere, the experience was disappointing. The food was uninspired and did not meet expectations.
We have visited the Green Room on a number of occasions previously and always enjoyed it. The atmosphere at the Green Room is easily the most elegant in Delaware. We also loved the piano playing on a relaxing Saturday evening. The food, however, was not up to Green Room standards. My mom's salmon was dry (admittedly she should have sent to back). My wife's scallops had bits of sand in them - very gritty. (She should have sent it back as well.) Also the veggies that came with it looked like frozen veggies one would buy at a grocery store (e.g. Green Giant). My tuna was very good, though. But even then it wasn't worth the $40 it cost. I was also surprised that their ice cream selection is very plain - no fancy gelato or anything like that. (It was probably Bryers.)
In summary, since our experiences there have always been positive in the past, I'm sure we will go again. I just hope this was a one-off bad night and not a trend of what's to come.
The asparagus and green onion soup was to die for. The rohan duck with reduction was a delight, and the orange-rum glazed scallops were wonderful. Their specialty martinis are sumptuous and warming. The ambience is quiet, reserved, with vaulted ceilings and a piano player in the immediate area playing quiet, jazzy tunes. Efficient valet parking in front. Pricey, but this place IS worth it, as many very expensive restaurants so often are not. You will feel every dollar was wisely spent there.
Lovely, gracious hotel dining room. Comfortable seating and good menu. Lunch was not ridiculously expensive. All in all, a lovely experience.
Ate at the Green Room for a wedding anniversary. Everything was great, very good service, and excellent food. Not very many people in there, so very quiet.
The ambience was impressive and the service was first class. The menu was impressive. Worth another visit.
Everything was delicious
A bit concerned about the dessert that the men had, your basil ice cream, cake moons and roasted strawberries
The the level of service and the quality of food is top notch and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The best place to dine without a doubt.
It was a wonderful meal and service. I find it very Dad to see the old majestic building being gutted.
Great place for a special meal - business or otherwise
The Green Room never disappoints. Food, service and ambience can’t be beat. Nice piano music. We get there several times a year for brunch.
We went to the Hotel Dupont for brunch years ago and enjoyed it very much. My husband said he'd like to go again for his birthday this year. While the Green Room is just as beautiful and elegant as it was then, the brunch was fairly lackluster. It consisted of a mismatched collection of random foods on a buffet followed by a choice of one entree from a list of six. We had the Classic Eggs Benedict and while it was fine, it wasn't anything special. The hollandaise was quite bland. The best part was the beautiful dessert buffet which, weirdly, was set up in the entrance next to the hostess station. It was quite a spread of gorgeous little pastries, cakes and cookies that looked like pieces of art. The table service was very uneven. Although the room was only about one-quarter full, we had to flag down servers to get coffee and water refills. At over $100 including tip for brunch for two, we had expected better.
We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary and it was a very memorable occasion. The service, dinner and cocktails were outstanding! We will return very soon!
I made a reservation for dinner to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The place and staff were wonderful, made extra special by our server, Ewelina. She was very accommodating and made suggestions on the food and wine. She even gave us some almond macarons to take home for the kids. The food were delicious and fresh, which my wife and I truly enjoyed. It was an unforgettable experience! We’ll definitely come back!
GREAT BRUNCH. THE ENTREE BEEF WAS EXCELLENT AND CAME AS REQUESTED. THE BEEF WAS SO TENDER IT COULD BE CUT WITH A FORK. LIVE PIANO MUSIC WAS A NICE ADDED ENJOYMENT.
SERVER WAS COURTEOUS AND LOOKED AFTER ALL THE NEEDS.
Our cocktails came from the bar wrong. We bit our tounges since it was date night sans our 3 y/o. First course was very good (salad and soup) but mains were a strong “meh”. Ordered dessert which was also fine. Service was attentive but food was really lacking. There is better fine dining in the region.
Waitress was horrible. We had to look for her twice. We ask her for our entrees to be served and she responded "Wait awhile and enjoy the buffet". We had the buffet and were ready for the main course. It was not her job or duty to tell us to wait awhile. While I do not believe she was being rude however her behavior and demeanor were inappropriate and could use some improvement.
The food was cold.
It was great!
Food was excellent, service excellent and they made my Father's Birthday special. We all had a wonderful evening.
Waiter was gd! Food really gd! Nice evening! 14 valet little high but gd service! Nice annivery dinner!
Beautiful room, great food and service. Perfect place for a celebration meal.
Disappointing evening..room was beautiful but empty..service was excellent and friendly..however food was very disappointing..duck was dry, tasteless and overcooked even after i discussed preferences while ordering..chicken with gnocchi was also dry, overcooked and hard to cut..even crabcake was not what I remembered from previous visit..used to have chunks of crab meat..this was all shredded..it may have started as lump
Rake but was all shredded crab ..what happened to old food quality when I could not wait to come back..even had to return to dining room to get code for restrooms.. plop
Beautiful room! The food was outstanding and the service was wonderful. Stay the night...I cannot recommend it more!
My husband and I go here every month for a date and we love it. Host are friendly and greet us every time. Nicely priced and not overpriced. Food is very delicious and love the different variety. I had shrimp and grits yesterday and it sucks because I may never see it on the menu again and it was delicious!!!!
Father’s Day brunch was great! Food was delicious, the pianist was amazing, and the service was flawless.
Had Father's Day brunch in the Green Room. The Hotel DuPont never disappoints.
This restaurant is one in a million.. would come back again and again if it were closer.. don't ever change a thing, including the staff !!!
Normally one of our favorite spots....maybe just a bad night...service was mediocre with only 6 other tables occupied. We were a party of six and three times we were told what we wanted was not available (items that were listed on the menu...Heineken beer, our wine selection and a specialty dessert drink! My salad was taken with half on it...I was turned, talking to my husband. A lot of confusion delivering the food....our waiter was quite kind and polite!
The spicy yam bisque and lobster roll were and outstanding lunch combination.
