The food here is always great, and the service was very good. We were able to eat our lunch and return to work for 1:00. This restaurant is one of the best options on the west side of Calgary's downtown.
Green Bean serves a great breakfast. Menu has typical breakfast items and healthy options. Service and food is consistently good when I visit.
Decent food, though they are a bit slow. Service is average (I think they’re a bit complacent with service because there’s little competition nearby).
It’s WAY too loud in there...generally only go there if I can’t get a table anywhere else.
A girlfriend and I met for lunch and both had salads. My choice was the Cobb Salad which was massive and delicious. My girlfriend had the Caesar Salad with Blackened Chicken and spoke very highly of the dish. The Green Bean is a regular lunch location for me due to the fact that they consistently deliver high quality meals in a prompt manner allowing for the limitations of a normal 1 hour lunch timeframe.
Excellent food and service - the acoustics are poor, however, it is difficult to conduct a conversation when the restaurant is full.
Food was bad, reheated chicken and mashed potatoes, likely from a catering job the night before. The salmon sandwich was too salty as well.
Food is fantastic. I have been coming with my friends for a few years during the summer so we can sit out on the patio, birthdays and Christmas lunch. Love everything about this gem from service to food. Thank you.
This restaurant was located perfectly to have easy access for all participants. Service fast and food was great. Lots of variety and the daily salmon special was fantastic. Have another meeting next week and we will be going there for lunch.
The phone and the service was great. They didn't have my reservation that I made on line and was confirmed but luckily there was room.
The service was terrible and food was delivered with identified allergies
Happy we chose Green been, the food was delicious and the service friendly.
Good value, good quality. Quick service for business lunch time.
It had been about a year since I went to the Green Bean. It used to be a place my colleagues and I could go and enjoy. What a total disappointment this meal was. The food quality has completely gone down hill to where I couldn't even finish my meal it was that unappetizing. Our server acted like any request was a huge imposition which did not help make the experience any better.
I will not be coming back here unless huge changes are made.
Open table had us request a high or low table and the restaurant did not receive that information
Great place excellent waitress....can't wait to go again
Table of 4. Had the chicken and was pretty tough. The rest of table was happy with their meal. Fish and chips are really good.
Just great food for everyone and at convenient place.
Very good food; quick, but not too quick, and fantastic service. A great place for lunch!
Took a while for service to come around. Food was good and staff were accommodating. Just had to wait for a while and tried a few times for waitress' attention before they'd come over.
Great spot for a quick lunch with lots of menu choices with variety. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating for changes to my dish.
Definitely an off day for the chef, my hamburger that is supposed to be a "fresh ground" patty most certainly is not. Preformed and frozen....It was so hard I had to get it down with ketchup and my friends rice soup had brush bristles in it, she found 2. The service was good as usual and made up for the huge lack in food quality.
The Green Bean always delivers - good food, good service, able to hear yourself think and talk- all in a very pleasant environment. It's my go to place for a reasonably priced delicious lunch.
Excellent service and food, great place to have lunch and talk.
Always excellent food and friendly, prompt service. Highly recommended.
The Green Bean is my go to restaurant. You can always count on good food and professional service. They understand that it is lunch (or breakfast) so timings are great. The menu is varied and several new things on it now - the kale spinach salad with chicken is delish!
Very good food, selection, and service at a good price
First time having lunch there for both myself and my colleague and we both agreed that we will definitely be coming back. It was ideal for a business lunch as it is spacious and quiet, with the tables spaced appropriately. The service was prompt and courteous and the food was excellent. Very good option for those who work downtown, but west of the "core" downtown area.
The menu is not the usual fare and there are gluten free options. Tables are spaced so you can carry on a conversation.
The staff are always great at the green bean. It is a very low key place to hang out and has a broad menu that will please everyone.
I eat at the Green Bean often and have recommended it to a few of my friends who work in the Downtown area. Their food is good but it would be nice to have 'smaller portions' for those of us who simply don't eat such huge portions. For example, I think it would be nice to have the option to get "one piece of Halibut" vs. two and pay for 'one piece' vs. for two. It would seem reasonable to do that for most of the sandwiches as well. The Roast Beef Dip is huge and again, one-half would be plenty for us women, and perhaps charge us one-half of the price. That is my only criticism for almost the restaurants in Calgary. We are an obese society so lets try and do something about it. Thanks.
As always, excellent service and great food. One of my favorite places in the Calgary core for lunch.
It was very easy to book through Open Table. Would do it again in the future and also recommended it to some of my friends. I like The Green Bean as they offer a lot of healthy choices, the food is fresh and delicious. I liked wild salmon, spring shrimp rolls, and zucchini bites. Everything was very tasty. My friends ordered blackened salmon sandwich and liked it a lot as well. It was very nice to be on the patio as the day was sunny and warm, we enjoyed sitting there, although the environment there (outside, I mean) was very casual, did not feel like festive, but very enjoyable. Service was good, but not very fast. Probably because it was a lunch time and many people came at the same time. There were a few other dishes that I definitely would like to try, like staffed chicken breast with pear, so will leave them for the next time. I loved, that the salad option was included with every entry, no need to order a separate dish. The portions were pretty large and perfectly cooked. They also have an option for gluten free breads and can substitute sweet potato for white potato. We did not take any wine as it was a working day, but definitely try to take it when after work or on the weekends. Also, I liked The Green Bean's breakfast menu. Many choices and good value for the money. I try to avoid white breads, white rice, and potatoes, and they have many different options to substitute them, and still make a delicious meal. Would be nice if they could make pre-orders to avoid spending time waiting for the orders to come. As of now, there is some construction going on, so sitting at the patio can be a little noisy or even the view from the street is a little destructed, but the fresh air and sun overcomes that situation. Also, you can go inside and enjoy your dining being there. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, and would come back myself as well. I heard also, that they have a Sunday Brunch, so would like to experience that as well soon. Enjoy!
Decent food, though it seems thrown together in a rushed manner.
It's way too loud in the restaurant...they need to deal with that.
I've been to the Green Bean several times for lunch, and I have always had excellent service. The food is pretty good - good quality ingredients, hot and quick - but not overly flavorful. The Fish and Chips is great, and the Guiness Stew is VERY FLAVORFUL. But the other items I (and my guests) have tried were bland and boring. I'm hoping there will soon be a change in menu with some more vibrant and exciting dishes. But please keep the stew and fish!
We went for lunch for my Son's graduation and the food and service was fantastic. Looked like a nice patio if the weather was nice. Fresh ingredients well prepared.
Very cute patio was easy to get into on short notice
Green Bean never disappoints at lunch time. Varied menu, specials, excellent service. It's one of my go-to restaurants for business lunch meetings.
I really liked the menu here and the food was tasty, hot and as expected. This isn't a fancy place but more of a "home cooked" sort of atmosphere. I thought the soup my friend got was maybe a bit light for $8 but he said it was good, so I guess that is the important thing.
As usual lunch at the Greenbean was fantastic. The food is always fresh, the service was excellent and was a lovely way to spend an hour or so with a good friend.
First time at the Green Bean and very impressed. WIll definitely go back.
