The Greek Kitchen
Traditional Greek Cusine. Service was great, food was good and portions were generous. The fish was fresh and nicely cooked. Ambiance was more of a local neighborhood restaurant versus fancy, but large space. Would definitely return.
The food and service were amazing. We brought out yiayia here for dinner and the waitstaff were very friendly and talked to us in English and Greek. They made excellent recommendations and brought us several plates of pita bread. The Octopus was a large portion for an appetizer and was delicious! We’ll definitely be back.
I've been here quite a few times before and always enjoyed it. But this time is was very crowded and they just didn't seem to have enough staff to handle it. In addition our waiter, who was very nice, waa not very competent.
The food was good, though.
The restaurant literally filled up 15 minutes after we arrived and our servers were overwhelmed, I think. My waffle was yummy and my Greek yogurt was luscious and drizzled with a savory honey and a ton of really big, fresh berries, but the lamb kebab ordered by one of my companions was tough and gristle-y and way overcooked. The salads ordered by others were just fine, but my charcoal-grilled shrimp were also tough and overcooked. One bright spot was the chocolate mousse cake for dessert.
This is our go to when we come uptown to see a show. Always a wonderful and delicious experience. We always leave happy, full and talking about how good the food is.
The food was excellent. Grilled shrimp, meatballs, dorado, and makaronada, all delicious. I would, however, suggest that if you go you ask to be seated in the main dining room. We were seated in the street-side extension, which is somewhat of a Siberia. Maybe it was the time we were there (about 6 P.M.) but the service was decidedly slower in that outer area. We weren't able to order for at least 20 minutes after we arrived, and there were long delays between our appetizers and entrees. Although we allotted 2 hours for our dinner before the show at John Jay College around the block, we ran out of time to order coffee and dessert. Too bad, because the food was certainly worth a visit.
Great, great food.
Friendly and competent service.
Nourriture très bonne. C’était une deuxième visite à cet endroit et nous y retournerions.
I've visited The Greek Kitchen many times over more than ten years. This one, at 6.15pm on a Saturday, was the least satisfactory - many were waiting for tables - yet nonetheless the staff were quick to create a table for us even at this most evidently busy time of the week.
Always great! The chicken kebab was excellent and the fish was really wonderful. Appetizers were shared and dinner portions are large. Wonderful restaurant.
Very authentic and excellent service at a fair price for NYC.
We ordered a variety of dishes and found them all to be excellent. Portions were generous, service was great.
Great food, friendly staff. Can't be beat for lunch or dinner with friends.
The Greek salad was warm and the service was awful. We were also one of two tables in the restaurant.
We go often and like it but at times it can be very noisy and service can be sluggish.
Loved it. Great food, great service
Good reasonably priced restaurant
The Greek Kitchen was great! I have numerous food allergies, and our server was super helpful in figuring out what dishes were safe for me. My party split the Spanakopita and Saganaki and really enjoyed both, and then had the Greek salads which were very good. We also enjoyed the many Greek wine options!
This was my first time at the Greek Kitchen for dinner. (I was here once for lunch last year. ) The place was packed, but we were quickly seated, order was taken promptly, and food was served quickly. My guest and I felt we got a lot of value for our money. Thanks!
I had written on my reservation that it was for a bday celebration and without me reminding the server or hostess when we got there, dessert came out with a candle!! Now, that is what I call awesome. The food was great, I could actually have a conversation without shouting, and it was quick.
The very best Greek food we've had in a long time.
Service, ambiance and setting was nice. However I was not expecting to be blown away by the food. The flavor was mouth watering. I ordered the lamb kebab with rice pilaf, unfortunately I cannot remember the exact red wine I ordered but I have zero complaints about this restaurant.
My grandmother loved it too and that’s all that mattered.
I will be back!
The food was amazing & the service was fast and amazing! We drove an hour and found parking right out front and it was all worth it!
I love this restaurant. The menu is genuine Greek cuisine, freshly prepared. Lovely ambiance with tablecloths. Very nice service. Excellent Greek wines such as organic retsina as well as other offerings. Fresh seafood and other entrees. I ate here one night, and the next night brought my colleagues for a meeting over a pleasant dinner. The noise level is low, which is relaxing.
The fish was alright but the gyro was amazing
Good standby with traditional Greek favorites!
What a gem!
great little gem around the corner from Lincoln Center! ! Had a yummy lunch and were able to get to our show easily. We'll be back!
Enjoyed our dinner so much - a pleasant staff adds so much to an evening, in addition to the good food!
Great food, service and ambiance. A true neighborhood gem.
Very nine place with excellent food
The Greek menu is varied and enticing. They have excellent fish offerings as well very well prepared traditional dishes (e.g. moussaka, avgelomona). Reasonable prices.
It is a greek restaurant with olive oils on the table yet they do not serve proper bread to enjoy olive oil. Greek Salad that they serve is not really Greek salad we know
We’ve always enjoyed this restaurant. The food is always good and the service, friendly and excellent.
All the entrees we ordered we terrific. Portion size was large (and I have a pretty healthy appetite). We could have easily shared a meal and been satisfied, especially when you consider appetizers.
Either way, I still highly recommend the restaurant.
I met up with family while we were here. Everyone enjoyed the food - we’re all vegetarian & there was plenty on the menu for us. They were definitely accommodating - I asked to move tables since I was cold (right under the AC) & they moved us over as soon as the the next table opened up. The food was standard for Greek food! No surprises here.
Always reliably fresh, delicious food, always superb service, it's definitely my midtown west go-to spot.
We had a lovely dinner. My friend had the red snapper which she said was excellent and I had an appetizer of fried feta with olives and figs on top, something I have never had before and which was superb and then rib lamb chops, grilled perfectly with lemon roasted potatoes. Everything was top notch and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and competent. I recommend The Greek Kitchen highly !
My chicken souvlaki was delicious and the staff was kind and attentive. I will go back.
Great neighborhood place. Good food and good value
