The Grapevine Ratings and Reviews
The Grapevine has been open for a long time, therefore I suppose it has a loyal following since it was full. The service and attention were very good. The atmosphere is family oriented and relaxed. They start with large white non discreet rolls and olive oil with seasonings. The appetizer "special" consisted of a large grouping of heavily breaded fried eggplant strips loaded with the frying oil. A salad or soup came with the entrees. Basically a filler of plain lettuce. My "special" entree had 5 medium sized shrimp, nicely flavored, swimming in butter. A lump of pasta was sitting next to the dish. My wife's moussaka was bland and we used the marinara sauce from the eggplant dish to supplement the flavor. I tasted the baklava which was doughy and under cooked. Basically a nice neighborhood Greek/Italian restaurant, but not suggested for very special occasions.
This is a fantastic restaurant. I've been here several times after work as a group. The service is impeccable and I simply love the down home feeling the staff conveys! I've also enjoyed it as a night out, it's cozy, and I like the bar area which is great for a cocktail before dinner. The food is wonderful. The desserts look awesome, unfortunately I'm always to full to try one. Grapevine never disappoints, great food, excellent service, good atmosphere!
Chose this restaurant for an after church lunch for a meal with our son-in-law whose family was out of town. Like having opportunity to mix choices from both Greek and Italian offerings. Have dined here on multiple occasions and the noise level, attention to customer comfort, and food quality and quantity have always been good. Today was no exception as each diner was pleased with their food choice and the serving staff. No complaints, satisfactory food and drinks, will be back.
The Grapevine was about as average as it comes. The server worked hard and was attentive. The entree food, however, was just plain average. The dolmades appetizers and the flaming saganaki were very good but everything else was just plain average.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Richmond Metro area. The food and service are always excellent and the prices are very reasonable. On this occasion we had a variety of baked manicotti and seafood specialties. The wine selections were adequate and the deserts were all excellent. The service was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. Very good feedback from our guests about the meal and the location.
We had a combination of Greek appetizers and Italian dinner - fun to able to do at a single restaurant! The saganaki flaming cheese was wonderful - good show and very tasty with the addition of fresh lemon and pita bread. I was a bit less excited about the veal piccata because the capellini was gooey and not very appetizing. I would go back and try another Italian dish because business was good for this restaurant and it is worth another try.
We enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner here. The staff could not have been more friendly or more helpful. They were extremely attentive. The food was delicious; portions were sizable. The staff even brought the relative celebrating his birthday a special piece of cake with a candle. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
We love Italian and Greek food. The marinara sauce was exceptionally good on my stuffed shells and on Tuesdays, they offer a free appetizer with the coupon from their website. House salad was good and the bread was wonderful. The serving size of all of the entrees is large, so be prepared to eat again the following day. We were very pleased with the service too. They were not pesty, but surely noticed when your drink was low and so on. Our experience was worth the drive across the river and we will visit again soon.
Came here for Mother's Day and birthday celebration. Mitchell never ceases to amaze me. They make you feel like family. We have moved to SC but when we come back to VA we make it a point to come her. We do this because we feel like we are visiting family and getting amazing food!!!!
We had a business group of 10 and ordered a variety of appetizers and main courses, all of which were excellent and very large portions. I had the salmon Marco Polo, which was outstanding and I took about 1/2 of it home. We also had a variety of deserts and I had the cannoli and it was also very good. The service is outstanding with many of the staff being Owners or members of the owner's family. This has been one of my favorites in Richmond Metro for many years.
Early evening meal with family we were visiting was a pleasant repast of authentic Greek and Italian cuisine. The warm bread was special; however, the gyro platter was formed meat; either lamb or beef would have been preferable. The Italian dishes were delicious as were the salads.
