The Grape Ratings and Reviews
We had our anniversary dinner at The Grape and it was amazing. We got there early and was welcomed by a very kind and friendly hostess who wished us a "Happy Anniversay." We sat at the bar until we were seated. I had a glass of Cabernet and my husband had a Mint Tom Collins. Both were good and we enjoyed looking at their selection of liquor, beer, and wine. When we were seated we were greeted promptly by our server. They had a four course meal that we looked at but decided to go with the regular menu. We both had the Mushroom Soup which was amazing. I had the Kobe Beef and my husband had the Trout. We loved every minute of the time we spent at The Grape. It was a very romantic First Year Anniversary.
We all loved our apps and main course. We asked the waiter for recommendations for the wine, which he provided instead of a sommelier. The wine experience wasn't the best. The desserts were good, but the coffee was a joke, as in we wondered if someone was playing a joke. We ordered two coffees and two double espressos, all was fine except one of the espressos was a gravity drip coffee in an espresso cup, which is hard to confuse the two separate machines, and one is made to order. We received a new one, and the espressos were comped. We still love the place, and will go back, but hope the staff realizes sending out gravity drip coffee for espresso isn't funny, and I expect most of their clientele will notice the difference.
From the appetizer until we were through with dessert EVERYTHING was phenomenal. The sommalie helped with wine pairings throughout the meal and our waiter was perfectly attentive. The mushroom soup was as good as all the write-ups claim it to be. The pork chop was cooked to perfection with the most amazing reduction underneath and then topped with tempura asparagus-yum.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Absolutely delicious. Our party ordered redfish or beef and the entrees were cooked to perfection. We booked our time based on their happy hour & were surprised to learn that it did not apply to our reserved table. We still elected to enjoy a cocktail, but considering we spent over $100 per couple for the meal w/ dessert, this seemed a little mercenary. Dessert coffees were lovely, but I would go elsewhere for dessert next time. Creme Brulee was scorched and jelly roll was dry.
It was our first wine dinner at the Grape and the food and wine selections were complimentary and enjoyable. You overlook perhaps the squeezed in corner table because once your dinner arrives you settle in to the ambiance and dining experience. We would certainly return
I am always pleased with the Grape! Had a wonderful meal and time at the come as you are wine dinner! The wine pairings were perfect as were the three courses. I have never been disappointed. Romantic and cozy! Great place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.
We were at The Grape for our first wedding anniversary on July 17th. We also came here for our honeymoon. I'd really recommend this restaurant. It has the best burgers EVER, the ambiance is perfect for a romantic meal, and the food...to die for! We we be back for our 2nd anniversary, but come back for the burgers very soon. Did I mention they were the best burgers EVER?
Another fabulous meal at The Grape... we were celebrating completion of a year long project with another couple. Our corner table in the back room was perfect until a large party arrived and the noise became unbearable. Fortunately, we were nearly done by then. Food was most excellent, we had the tuna, the redfish and the trout - along with soups and salads and finished off with the to-die-for chocolate-cherry mousse & the icecream. MMMMMM! Our server, Chad, was attentive and quickly fulfilled our every request making this celebration meal most enjoyable and memorable. AND - our guests had never been there before so you should see them back as they *loved* it.
The atmosphere was unique and the valet was prompt but that's where the compliments end. The service was bad. Our server was not helpful and rarely at out table. We had to ask the bus boy for help twice and another server took out check after walking by our table serveral times and noticing no one was helping us. The meal started solidly, our salads (Courtney's salad, I think) were good. The bread was ok but the butter was too heavily salted. We both ordered fish with a butter sauce, likely made with the same butter that was served with the bread. Both plates were too salty to eat. My wife's fish was also dreadfully over cooked. I'm sure this is a solid place for a glass of wine after work but I would eat elsewhere. The food is bad.
It was okay, but it just wasn't "great." The server was a little rude. My fish was very overcooked, to the point of being inedible. I sent it back, but I had to wait on for 20 minutes to come back, at which point everyone else was finished eating and they had to watch me eat. We were seated so close to another table that we both had to scoot our chairs in as far as we could, in order to not bump each other. There was no way our conversation could be private with the other table so close. The decor could use some updating. Overall it was definitely NOT worth the price we paid. We would rather have enjoyed a 5 course meal elsewhere for the same price as our 3 course at The Grape.
Always a good choice for a special occasion. Food is out of this world, tremendous. Service is excellent and well-informed. It's a small space, so it can get a little noisy when it's busy. My only real complaint is that the wine list comes across as quite pricey. 200% mark-up appears to be the norm with pricing of alcoholic beverages in the service industry, but some of the wines on this wine list seem to be marked up even more so. Hint: If you don't know where to go with the menu, tell your server to have the chef suggest something.
