Another wonderful experience. Went with friends for a celebration.
Service attentive without being obsessive or intrusive.
Two of us had seafood (salmon & grouper), very nice. One went with the Grape's classic Bistro Steak Frites - great beef tournedos. Instead of an entree, I went for the 5 item Cheese & Charcuterie Plate, which is a meal in and of itself. Their house Boursin is to die for! I had to share it around the table. The Rabbit Mortadella is excellent.
The desserts topped off the evening nicely. My Meyer Lemon Tarte au Citron was very tart and lemony without being excessively acidic and a nice counterpoint to the cheeses.
Note - the menu changes frequently, so not all the dishes I mentioned will always be available.
And the wine list. Courtney does an excellent job of keeping a new, interesting wine list. We got lucky and grabbed the only bottle of a Montrachet they had just gotten in. Got to introduce our companions - they had never had a Montrachet. Excellent, and Courtney checked before it was brought out and suggested to our server to chill it just a bit more before serving, then checked with us herself to make sure we were satisfied.
One of our go-to places on Greenville Avenue.
This is a wonderful Lower Greenville neighborhood restaurant. The food is excellent, waiters are friendly, and the is charming. Highly recommended!
We are frequent customers of The Grape. It never fails to be excellent! Service is always good, food is consistently wonderful. I could make a meal out of their bread! It is my favorite of all the restaurants that I have been to. My husband and I have celebrated many occasions there and will continue to do so!
I disagree with how "wonderful" the hamburger is rated. I ordered mine "medium" and it came out almost raw. My wife and I were sharing meals, so by the time we cut the hamburger and saw its rareness, we didn't feel like waiting for it to be recooked. Next time, I'll make sure with the waiter what "medium" should look like or order something else. The gyro was excellent, however.
Birthday dinner was delicious
Over 40+ years this wonderful lower Greenville spot has retained its romantic, special feel & can still compete at top levels with delicious menu & great service!
Everything but the server was great. Maybe he had tables in another room but he was never around. Pacing of the meal was awkward to say the least, with apps & salad courses arriving moments apart ... a long long wait for entrees ... then no attention while we sat with dirty plates enjoying conversation. Others took care of us, busboy, manager, but the waiter was not there. It was a birthday dinner and we didn't even bother with dessert since it was not offered. Weird.
We really enjoyed the food and service and the attention our wait staff took to ensure we got out on time for our play without making us feel rushed. The Grape has been around for a long time but we always enjoy it every time we go. Great happy hour!
The Grape is a warm, inviting and friendly restaurant, with an interesting menu, perfectly prepared food, great service, and a decent wine list, all at moderate prices. Our party of 7 was very satisfied with everything, and I would definitely go back and recommend it to others.
THere were four friends accompanying my wife and me for dinner. They had been to The Grape several times on previous trips to Dallas and requested that we have dinner there one evening. As always, everything was superb. Thank you for the wonderful dinner.
Perfect, casual, warm - fabulous food. Great place to gather with friends, staff is wonderful and love the place - highly recommend for almost any occasion.
While I am not sure if it is “the best” burger in TX but it is pretty close. Good vibe.
The Grape is a must for Sunday brunch! The breakfast sandwich is the way to go.
This is my favorite restaurant. I know Dallas has hundreds of nice restaurants to explore, but I’d rather be here.
Steak and frites were excellent. Service was attentive and friendly. Enjoyed the experience.
Love the Grape!
The Grape provided excellent customer service and an exceptional dining experience. The cocktails were really good along with an delectable food menu.
The Grape is a classic. We had not been in a while so we visited Saturday. We ate in the wine room which was new for us. It was cozy and nice. We started off with the Braises Lamb Tartines. They were delicious and just the right amount for 2. No trip to The Grape is complete without a cup of their famous mushroom soup which did not disappoint. For dinner we had the Bistro Steak Frites and the Sauteed TX Grouper both prepared perfectly. All in all a great meal. Our server did a terrific job. Just the right amount of attention.
Truly is the best burger in Dallas. Everything about the experience was top notch.
We received a gift card from our son for Christmas. So, when he was in town from NY, we decided to use it. First time visit was awesome!! The food was on point and our waiter was friendly and attentive the entire time. What a treat!
Enjoyed the quiet, cozy, and elegant ambiance
Service was good and kept my water filled (please deliver bread/butter a little sooner though)
Portion size was appropriate
Food was very tasty and required no effort to eat
Dessert was tasty and not too rich
Include the burger offered at brunch on the dinner menu. I told several people i went to The Grape to eat and they asked if i had the burger and I said No - Only to find out it's only on the brunch menu.
waiter was awesome. he helped us build our charcuterie board, and made excellent recommendations. the menu may feel limited but it is prepared very well. we ordered the pork chop and the pasta. we will back again....and again.
Food was amazing. Mushroom soup is a must. Cozy little place.
Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. He noticed the food was taking us a little longer that he seemed it should have and gave my date and myself a free glass of wine for being patient. Neither of us complained or even noticed it was taking too long but he thought it was necessary and we very much appreciated the gesture by him and the owners policy.
And when the food did come out it was fantastic!
Everything was great. Can't wait to come here for brunch.
Always a great experience at the Grape. My fiancee and I's favorite restaurant in Dallas. One bit of feedback - bring back the burger to every day on the menu! It's too good to just be on Sunday and Monday.
I ordered the lamb neck entree and it was delicious. The seating is a bit crowded so expect the noise level to be challenging for conversation. The wait staff was acceptable but better if there wasn't hesitation in answering questions about the menu.
Knowledgeable server. Quick. Delicious salmon and mushroom soup. Beautiful atmosphere.
Came in for Valentine’s Day dinner, and was once again totally in love with dinner. I love being able to confidently order some things I can be picky about (I don’t usually like lamb or lobster at most places) at the Grape and being able to fully enjoy all the potential of the food. Lamb tartines were full of flavor without being gamey! The steak was the best steak I’ve ever had. Period. So tender and delicious. I thought the dessert options for the prefix menu were great! St. Honore and Opera cake( so classic!) with an expresso was a perfect end to our special Valentine’s Day!
My husband and I went here for our Valentine’s Day dinner. They had pre-fixed 3 course meal options and the food was very good! We were seated on the enclosed patio and the lighting was romantic. We chose the wine paring option and really enjoyed the overall experience!
My wife and I always thoroughly enjoy the food, the service and the atmosphere with the ability of talking quietly and hearing without shouting.
Experience was good, the staff was very welcoming and attentive. Room was a little cramped but understood its Valentine’s Day and they probably put out as many sitting areas as they could get into the small back room.
Love this place but waiter was no bueno -
Very slow- no personality and not genuine. I’m sure they are not all like that gentleman we had.
We have enjoyed the Grape for 30 years so we decided to enjoy a Valentine’s Dinner there. We won’t do this in the future.
The portions were obviously smaller than usual but the price was not similarly reduced. My redfish was not hot and was undercooked with a lot of inedible skin. My Paloma cocktail was extremely bitter; sharing this with the waitress I was told it was supposed to be like that; it was replaced with a similarly disappointing Cosmo which on many previous visits had been delicious.
We left sad and disappointed that one of our favorite spots had succumbed to taking advantage of Valentine diners.
So we’ll go back but not for any event dinner.
I went The Grape for my Birthday brunch. February 11. The service was awful. The waiter brought my “Warm Cinnamon Pull Aparts” cold. The coffee was lukewarm. The waiter did not come back to check on us. Consequently, two of us had to get up and refill our own coffee cups. The main courses were OK. It took the waiter a long time to bring the bill. Then it took quite a while for him to pick up our money. I got tired of waiting and I spoke to the manager. She apologized, but did nothing. She could have taken the cold “warm cinnamon pull aparts” off the bill, but she did nothing.
I once loved The Grape, but I will not be going back.
I have loved this restaurant for 30 years...for dinner. I had heard about their award winning burgers served only at Sunday brunch so I invited my three 20-something sons for brunch. All three ordered the bacon cheeseburgers and none of them finished it, not because it was too big but because (even though they were ordered for varying degrees of wellness) they were burnt on the outside very rare on the inside and just not too tasty. The fried chicken sandwich was fine but the bun did not meet its description. I was thrilled that its slaw topping was scant. My husband was pleased with the simple breakfast of eggs and breakfast ham. The hash browns must have been the bottom of the pot. They looked like mush.
For starters we had the monkey bread. Bring your insulin if you plan to have more than a bite of this.
By the way, I still love the Grape and will be returning for dinner in the future.
Great food, perfect service. Place is pretty small but the creative menu is worth it.
I am used to the Grape being more "special" - one of our favorites. This time it was just "eh". And service was inattentive.
