Service was terrible. I arrived 20 minutes early for reservation and still got seated without menu 10 mins after 4pm .
Amazing Lamb burger and the banana bread pudding is to die for
Amazing as always! Our second time here this week!! Definitely our go-to restaurant in the neighborhood!
The food was so tasty. Ambiance was excellent. Drinks are phenomenal.
I love love love the food there. Never disappointed. Bread pudding is beyond fantastic..and i made a mean bread pudding myself, but theirs is brilliant. Only thing i can say which may be annoying is the music level. It does tend to be too high forcing people to speak very loudly. Other than that so good!
Totally recommend. This is our second visit and looking forward to many visits.
A wonderful gem in uptown NYC. We had a table of 9 and the service was quick, thoughtful, and attentive. The food is fantastic and you get a great portion size, and the cost is more than affordable. I've dined here multiple times and would highly recommend this spot to anyone.
Late dinner on Valentines Day
Made a reservation on Valentine's Day for a prix fixe dinner with my husband. We were shown to a communal table and told the tables for two were reserved for others. I mentioned that we, too, had reserved a table and wanted a separate one. After waiting while the hostess got the owner's approval, we got a table for two. Our waiter was very attentive. The appetizers--shaved asparagus salad and gnocchi--were outstanding. So was my husband's steak. But the scallops I ordered were thin and watery, as if they'd been boiled. Big disappointment. The bed of lentils had chorizo--I probably missed that on the menu. I don't eat meat, and the waiter returned with a fresh, sausage-free batch for me. Desserts were nice, but I came home hungry.
An excellent meal, as always. Never disappointed at The Grange.
The Grange is a solidly good restaurant with diverse menu options and very good service. It's a great neighbor restaurant.
Food was great, the service was great, waiter was attentive and friendly. Will definitely go back.
I go to the Grange often because their food never lets me down. This time was no exception. I had been craving a burger all week and they satisfied my craving. I tried the garlic parmesan fries for the first time ever and they were delicious. We didn’t feel rushed to leave after we finished our meal, which was appreciated.
Excellent customer service and the food was amazing. Thanks again, see you again soon!
The service was excellent. However, charging the customer 3.5 % service charge to pay by credit card is nickel & diming the customer.
We are moving towards a cashless society and this pre-historic restaurant is penalizing customers for using their bank card.
Will never return or recommend this establishment to friends and associates.
My boyfriend and I first time and we absolutely loved it!
Good food. Better than average bar food.
Excellent service, clean bathrooms, lovely interior and yummy food. The noise level allowed for good conversation for a table of six though in the occasional noise swells, it became a little hard to hear anyone except the people right next to me.
The menu looked amazing and tasted ok. The three of us ate French onion soup, ricotta gnocchi, salad, short rib rolls, vegan bolonaise and short rib ravioli. Nothing was bad but everything a little off: the soup was bland, the ravioli dry, the salad greens a bit tired... the best I thought was the vegan bolonaise. That actually made my taste buds happy. Everything else was just either bland, under seasoned or the texture was too one note.
Also the service was crazy slow and clearly our waitress was unfriendly and unavailable much of the time.
Won’t be back.
Great food and really nice place!
Everything was delicious from the starters to the drop dead delicious peach cobbler for dessert. We will return the next time we are in New York.
We had a reservation at 8:15 and were seated around 9pm. Other than that the food was excellent
Sunday nights at the Grange is a VIBE. So quaint, cozy, and great live jazz music 7-10p.
Always wonderful and delicious neighborhood gem
Excellent experience especially as we were visitors from UK. Only thing we were disappointed with was the portion of ravioli was very small. Burgers were superb.
Really liked the lamb burger with the sweet potato fries. I had it with the seasonal pumpkin cocktail. It was the perfect combo. The peach cobbler was delicious! It’s locally sourced so that was really nice! Gnocchi was a great starter! Will return!
Took my mom out to live jazz at the Grange on Sunday night while she was in town, and she loved it! The food was excellent as usual, the music was good, and the service was great! Will be back.
Great but they said they did not take reservations. We arrived and were seated right away regardless.
Very good food, service, ambiance (except for the noise level). We'll be back!
Delicious food, very good service.
Good food and value, but many service issues marred our overall experience. Reservation was for a party of five last Sat.
1. Open Table reservation was not initially honored. We were first told it didn’t exist. Then it was found. Then we were told that Open Table is not connected to their main reservation system. (Does anyone think that’s a legitimate reason to deny service, or reasonable to tell customers? Seems another reviewer on this site had the same experience - check Gweniveire’s review.)
2. We had to appeal to the manager, prove our reservation, and press our case to get a table, which turned out in the end to be available and visible.
3. No decanter available for the red wine we ordered.
4. Waitress initially refused to repurpose a wide-mouth glass water bottle as a decanter despite six unused ones visibly sitting on service bar. (“Those are for water.” Huh?)
5. I had to appeal to the bartender for a spare water bottle before one was reluctantly used as a makeshift decanter.
6. Entrees brought out while we were still working on our appetizers. Server appeared perplexed by our request to keep entrees off the table until first course was completed.
7. Lamb porterhouse was requested rare. It was served well-done. (Thankfully, sending it back went smoothly.)
8. It was difficult to get our assigned waitress’ attention. (It was not a full house.) Fortunately, we were able to get an alert waitress’ attention from a nearby table.
Two of our party were celebrating birthdays, so speed bumps were particularly unwelcome. In the end, we spent a few hundred dollars and left a tip anyway. I’m unsure about coming back: Because the overall store culture and system do not appear to be designed around outstanding customer experience, I believe avoiding a repeat would be a gamble. Planning to spend more time at Fumo and Oso, two great places a block or two further south on Amsterdam.
I love the grange. Excellent food, value wines, good service. Was there on a Saturday night And it was not too crowded or too loud. What more can you ask for?
Lovely. Welcoming space; tables are not too close together, and on a warm night, there are some twos
outside. The Grange has a very nice menu with a mix of small and large plates. There's something for everyone. My group had swordfish, blackened salmon tacos, rack of lamb, cauliflower quinoa burgers, and salads, and we were all very happy. Good fries; excellent, unusual cocktails. Don't miss the fresh, hot donuts for dessert. Will return often.
It was fine.
Fresh and delicious. Menu broad enough to please many people. Outdoor tables on busy street.
