We are never disappointed when dining at the Grand Oak Steakhouse. The food is always outstanding and presented beautifully. This time there were six of us celebrating Valentine's Day, and we all loved the dinner and ambiance.

The Grand Oak Steakhouse and Bar is a wonderful location for a great meal in a peaceful and serene setting. While the Highland Resort is aging, the Grand Oak Steakhouse has been modernized and works hard to accomodate special requests.

Had the three course prefix for $35. Complete steal for what's on offer. Wine list has been reduced quite a bit, but overall well balanced with a few good picks. Will be back soon!

all was excellent, the food, the service, and the ambience. however, dessert was a disappointment. lemon pie wedges were very small and the filling very tart.
consider taking your dessert choice somewhere else.

I went with 2 of my girlfriends for Brunch. We were there around noon and it was not too busy. The decor is outdated and the wall with pictures should be torn down to make it all windows so that everyone has a great view of the lavender fields!

The service was INCREDIBLE and the food was so good! I had the Eggs Benedict and a side of potatoes. Will definitely return!

My fiance, David Guzman, has already emailed and addressed our issues we had with our waitress.

The only thing I would add is what happened to the bread & butter or a glass of water? Why did we have to ask for our glass of wine that comes with the meal? It was not offered. And the mashed potatoes had no flavor

Was disappointed this time.

I enjoyed the Restaurant very much. I brought 7 others for a very enhoyable Birthday celebration. It was so nice I decided to bring another friend to introduce her to the Inn.
We were not able to sit in the restaurant but had to sit in the bar area. It was much too light for dinner, the tables were close together, the menu was limited we still enjoyed it only not nearly what was expected.

Great service, attentive without being intrusive. Pianist playing in the dining room. Excellent butternut squash soup. Steaks were good, steak sauce a little sweet but who puts steak sauce on a top quality steak? Would have preferred more of the herb butter that came with the rolls rather than sauce. Accompanying vegetables were a good assortment including roasted parsnips and brussel sprouts. Certainly no need to order aditional side of vegetables. I would of liked them to be a little hotter. Steaks were very good. Two double lamb chops were a substantial serving. Would have liked them more rare but then most people would like them medium. The star of the meal was the dessert tapas. They would outdo anything in LA or San Diego. Included were a tart tropical sorbet that was a good refreshing contrast to the dark chocolate mousse, creme brulee, beignet with warm chocolate sauce and a great apple gelle.
A good experience out in Cherry Valley.

Dating can be a challenge in picking a place. My Date and I dined in the quaint little bar off the side to the main room. The atmosphere was wonderful, staff was friendly, and the meal was excellent! The lavender inspiration was a neat touch and hearing the history was memorable. My date and I were even speaking on behalf of making and evening to stay the night in this mini peaceful getaway. Total thumbs up. Great for new daters... :)

We decided we'd be coming back each Christmas, because it's always a pain to find someplace special enough for our group, and this one fits the bill wonderfully! They even took notes to always give us the table we like for next Christmas. Great food, great service, friendliness and accommodations. We love the Grand Oak.

I often feel I don't get my money's worth at buffets so when our 10 person family group was looking for somewhere to have breakfast together we thought we'd try the Grand Oak. It was amazing, they allowed us to share dishes (try the fruit salad) and we were able to choose from a selection of unusual and wonderfully flavorful dishes. They had some very fun adult beverages as well for the holiday season. We didn't find a single dish we didn't enjoy and with there being 10 of us (two children) we tried almost all of them. I loved the fruit salad, enjoyed the frittata... and tasted the German pancake and french toast. I think the french toast was my least favorite. When I make it I do soak it in egg, this had a very very surface coating that hardly went in to the bread itself so yeah... it was OK, but I think that one could have been done better.

You won't be disappointed, it was nice in the dining room... we were able to all talk and hear each other and the fields outside are scenic. I hear they're more scenic in the spring when the lavender is blooming.

Great place to go when you want a nice aged quality steak and or just a nice place to eat with great entertainment. The staff are always very friendly and polite. Tanya, thanks for the great service and laughs. We had a great time. This was our second time there and we are never disappointed.

My wife & I decided to eat here for my birthday. It was not our first time, but it was our best time. The food( scallops, salads & steak) was delicious, but the highlight was the service. Everyone was so kind and we were even offered a glass of very good Champagne as a birthday gift. There was music in the bar and it was a delightful evening.

The title says it all. Change Grand Oak Steakhouse to Grand Oak Restaurant. I make much better steaks at home. Not an exaggeration. Not evenly cooked, slightly dry and no... NO flavor. Won't be back.

We've been to the Grand Oak Steakhouse before and this night was not up to their previous standards. I ordered a medium steak because I felt if anyone could get it right, they could. Wrong - I received what looked like a little ball of charcoal, then asked the the server to take it back (after eating the vegetables and potatoes because it took so long to get anyones attention)- her reply, we'll take care of it as soon as we can . Instead of saying "I'll take care of this right away." So their I sat waiting with nothing to eat while everyone else in the dinner party ate.

With what a person has to pay for a nice enjoyable dinner at the Grand Oak Steakhouse, this experience was not pleasurable.

My husband and I had a great date night. We usually sit in the bistro, but this time we sat in the dining hall. The lighting, ambiance and pianist were an amazing combination. We enjoyed a great meal together, without our daughters, after a hectic week. I cannot say how wonderful the pianist was, great all the way around. We started with crab cakes, had the ribeye and lamb chops, and finished with French press coffee and Creme brûlée. Food was amazing, staff was on point as was music. This is our go to date night spot, every time!

Food is outstanding. Great old place with so much ambiance. First time there, and will return. The staff are just wonderful and welcoming. Just one thing, I took the advice of another person's review...the bar area is a little too noisy for dinner. The dining area is quieter for talking and visiting with friends.

I had been to the Highland Springs Resort to attend their annual Lavender Festival and fell in love with the location and charm then. The resort is like "the land that time forgot," with rich history and scenery that makes you feel as though you've been transported back in time. There is barely a hint that you're anywhere near a city! Needless to say, when a special occasion involving a California history lover, I knew this was the perfect place to go to brunch.

From the outset, the service was impeccable. Attentive (but not overly so) waitresses were polite and helpful. Our party didn't feel rushed, and the amout of time it took for our meals to be delivered allowed us time to converse.

The view was beautiful - we sat overlooking the lavender fields. I can't imagine how beautiful the view would be when the lavender blooms!

The food was simply amazing. I had the Eggs Norway, which featured salmon (apparently smoked on-site) resting on a freshly-baked bun, and topped with farm-fresh eggs (from chickens on-site) and the best Hollandaise sauce I've ever tasted. Ever. Every bite I put in my mouth made me say "mmmmmmm." I paired it with lavender champagne for a delightfully unique experience.

I can't wait to go there again.

We had great expectations as this restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend. However, it was not as good as we'd hoped, particularly since the prices were rather steep. The appetizers we ordered were excellent, but the burger and steak we had as entrees missed the mark. The steak was flavorful but the texture rather grainy, and the burger was average particularly considering the price of $14. The rosemary fries were a bit overpowered by the rosemary. The creme brulee dessert was not good....the topping was not crispy as it should be, and the chocolate (?) creme had an odd taste and texture. All in all, the Grand Oak was not that grand.

The food was bad; lukewarm burgers, fries, mashed potatoes, horrible steak. The prices are way too high for the poor quality. We ate in the bar area at a table that's way too small for four people having dinner; the entertainer was good but his music made it impossible to chat during dinner because of the noise level. All in all we were very disappointed and will never eat there again.

care for the sides it came with which was sweet (I was not prepared for) and had an asian feel.

My father who lives in Mississippi came out to California on vacation and took me to The Grand Oak Steakhouse for my birthday. I chose this restaurant because I have been there for lunch with my son on a previous date.

The food was scrumptious (I already knew it would be), and there are many choices for someone with Gluten allergies (me), which makes it especially nice to order off the menu without too much drama.

My only complaint is that the music in the bar area was far too loud. There was a singer playing to pre-recorded music (with his sound man), and he was talented. But the level made it impossible to have a conversation on any level while he was singing. My husband is a musician and I truly appreciate live music (in any form), but when you cannot scream to the person sitting close to you, it becomes annoying instead of joyful.

Everything was amazing and service was amazing. However, when I ordered the Creme Brulee it tasted very sour. When I asked the waiter why it was so sour he said it was passion fruit creme brulee. This was not written in the menu, I double-checked. It was pretty disappointing to order creme brulee expecting my favorite sweet dessert only to have it taste sour and not be told.

I just moved to Beaumont and finally tried The Grand Oak Steakhouse. The beef was fantastic, the Yukon potatoes were delicious and the carrots were so fresh it was as if I picked them out of the garden. I also had a great champagne cocktail made with lavender and what I liked most about it was that it was not sweet at all! Service was excellent and the dining room is quiet enough that you can actually hold a great conversation with you dinner guests. They also have an amazing bar area that would be great for a mid day lunch! The grounds themselves are rustic. I can hardly wait to go to the Lavender festival!

Only issue was when being seated, the hostess was going to seat us at a table for 4, we were only 3, and the waitress behind the bar said, outloud, you better check if you have a reservation for the table before you give it to a 3. Food was great and service was ok. maybe not enough waitresses for the amount of people that were eating. We will be back.

We have one or two reliable restaurants in our area. Grand Oak main dining room is where you go for a special occasion. Upscale menu all perfectly cooked.to order. The meats and fish are high quality. The vegetables are fresh picked from their own farm and prepared in such a way, amazing taste eloquently plated. We've had four or five dinners here over the last couples of years.

We also eat quite often in the Bistro. We enjoy the themed nights, especially German Night. We love the Hamburger nights for $10 too

Nice place, but a little plain inside. Small selection of menu items. We both had a steak. Mine was the ribeye. Well cooked, but seemed small for the price. Way too much fat. I would say close to a third, maybe more. My guest had the Ny strip. Much better. Starters were the scallops, and crab cakes. I would recommend the crab cakes. Service was very good until the bill came. Had to have it corrected, due to a overage of the wine price. Again good not Grand.
