The Granary Restaurant
This restaurant has an unbeatable mountaintop location and the views here were wonderful. However, the food quality as well as service tonight were severely lacking, and the worst part was that manager didn’t seem to care. They served us undercooked dinner rolls even after acknowledging that they were severely undercooked. Every single dish from appetizers to entrees was extremely salty in a really bad unnatural way, and all the steaks were not cooked right. We ordered medium rare steaks and got them extremely rare. We didn’t even bother to complain because the manager’s attitude came across as that they were better than their customers. The Amangani Grill (located next door, with the same spectacular views) is a much better choice.
We ate dinner on Nov 1st. The view was stunning. I had the Elk Tenderloin and my wife had the New York Strip. They were both cooked to perfection. The chopped salads were delicious. For dessert we had the pumpkin cheesecake. It was the end to a wonderful evening.
We were seated next to a large group which made the evening awful - management knew about the noise beforehand - big mistake on their part. Chicken dish we had was undercooked and elk loin was mediocre.
Amazing views, delicious food, the manager was very friendly and helpful with wine selection.
Vladimir did an amazing job making sure we were taken care of. All of the food and drinks were perfect! Well done, thank you for a great evening!
Average food with spectacular views
This was our most outstanding meal of the entire week in Jackson! Andrea made it special and could not do enough to make our experience special.
Always love doing the Granary when in town. The view is awesome. Mark is oh so very helpful and accommodating. Staff was good too. Just sorry to hear that the trout was turned in to a "chicken fried" version. What a terrible way to present (or, 'cover up'?) the delicate flavors of a good trout. We'll see if it's changed by our next visit.
Amazing view of the Tetons. Not a large menu but everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Nice bar and wine selection. Very solid meal. Would definitely go back. Maybe tonight! Vladimir our server was awesome!
Location and overall ambience were great with outstanding view of the Tetons. Food was fair at best and overpriced, especially the ratatouille which tasted good yet was basically a medium sized portion of vegetables priced at $30+. Menu was small (as we knew going in) and when we arrived one of the few entrees was not available (6:45 reservation), no soup, and waiter specifically recommended not ordering one of the fish entrees. Overall a big disappointment although our group of 8 did still have a good time and waiter/overall service was good.
It was phenomenal experience for my friends birthday and our trip ♥️
Thank you for making it special for her birthday
View was wonderful, sauce on the signature Elk medallions (mole), took away from the Elk. The Elk itself was okay. Wife had Salmon, the salmon itself was good but the sauce was not to our liking.
Brussels appetizer was very good as was the view.
Absolutely stunning views, lovely live piano music, and delicious food. Service was a tiny bit slow but that was due mainly to a very large party that came in right after we arrived. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area who values excellent cuisine and exquisite views, especially at sunset.
We were very disappointed especially with the ambience and food. I ordered the salmon and it came cold and over done. The bok choy was not edible. I would not go back here.
Outstanding views, outstanding staff, outstanding food!
Great staff with wonderful staff and a spectacular view
The food was great and unique. If you have picky eaters, may not be a good choice. The menu is limited and has specific choices for the region. Our server was awesome and really catered to our every need. Even took pictures of us on the balcony in front of a spectacular sunset. Craft cocktails were tasty and unique. Was a very special evening.
Went there for my birthday dinner. It has an amazing view and the food was wonderful
Good views of the Tetons, but food was mediocre.
When we arrived at The Granary we were immediately impressed with the setting and looked at this as a positive sign of what was to come. My wife started with a berry and goat cheese salad with a light vinaigrette which she found lovely. I enjoyed a Salmon tartare that was flavorful and nicely presented. At this point we thought we were well on our way to a truly memorable dinner.
Unfortunately, then came the main course which was a NY Angus beef that was cooked to perfection as medium rare and had so much flavor I could not believe it. What was wrong was that the meat was very tough to chew and that it took away from what could have been a memorable experience.
Regrettably it got worse after I told our waitress and she reported it to the chef. She came back and told me that the chef knew about the toughness issue with the steak and planned to offer another cut in the near future. I am shocked at this cavalier attitude towards a guest about the key component his dish. If there was an issue with the meat nobody should have been served what we were served. Am I less deserving of a quality product this week than a guest served next week? Shame on you Chef for considering me less worthy of your best even when you know what you are serving is below par!
As a result we must warn any future diners that the food served may not be the best as this kitchen does not think its clients deserve the best. The Granary Restaurant has such potential and came so close to delivering a high quality dining experience but instead chose an easy but foolish way to interact with the guest. The best restaurants in the world work everyday to present only the best dining experience while The Granary does not care.
Elk was by far the winner, mushroom soup special was a loser for our table, trout was so so , far too many Brussels sprouts the dish could have used a starch.
This was not my most favorite experience at this historical favorite restaurant of mine (I’ve been coming for over 30 years)
They have a great view .... that’s about it. The food is only fair, but way way expensive. The staff was nice enough ...... I’m just not into having a $200 dinner for two and getting below par food ..... just to have a view of the Tetons.
This was our fourth visit to The Granary and it continues to impress us with its combination of an outstanding view of the Tetons, gracious service and delicious food. This may have been our best visit yet. Well done, Granary!
The appetizers and soup were great, the entrees left much to be desired, very mediocre. Would only recommend people go for the view and sit in the bar/deck for a drink and app.
I would not recommend dinner at The Granary; the menu is very limited.
I did not like my “Angus Beef New York” at all. It was very tough and lacked the proper seasoning.
My company also didn’t like the Chicken Fried Trout.
Food just average
Restaurant old and just did not provide much ambience
Expected a much finer dining experience
This place is awesome! Outrageous view and great food and service! Will definitely be back
the food was solid and the views from the restaurant are spectacular
We love the Granary....we are locals in Jackson. Our waiter, Michael, was very attentive. It has the best view of any restaurant in JACKSON. My hope is that some company, will buy the common elements of the Spring Creek Ranch and bring it into this century. It will always be the #1 place we take out of town guests.
Food was amazing but service very special. Vladimir our waiter was superb!!
Had a great breakfast. Very knowledgeable about Gluten Free dining options. Highly recommend
The service and food were fantastic. Our party of four had both Elk and Bison. The waitress did an outstanding job!!! On top of the great food and service the views were absolutely amazing! Would highly recommend this restaurant!
Very good experience. Just have to be ok with a $200 meal is $100 food. + $100 view.
we had two dinners and two breakfasts as hotel guests. Convenient short walk from cottage. Nice cozy restaurant with upstairs bar and outdoor deck with spectacular views of the Tetons, main dining room is downstairs also with a great view. Waitstaff was courteous and knowledgeable. On the first night we had the elk chop special which was Amazing. On the second night we had the South Dakota Elk Tenderloin Medallions which were also terrific, the spring onions were a nice touch. Only problem was a slow bar service on the first night. We arrived at about 7 pm for an 8:30 pm reservation and decided to have cocktails on the outdoor deck. We had a simple drink order basically a shot of whiskey and a martini took about 25 minutes, whenever we asked the server said the bar was busy? On the other night we sat at the bar and were promptly and courteously served by the bartender. Breakfasts were tasty hearty and served rapidly in the main dining room. So all in all definitely worth a try
Beautiful views of the Tetons but a restaurant charging $58 for an entree should not be sitting a table with two infants after 8:30pm. Crying children creates a Denny's-type atmosphere. Food was below average. Instead try Old Yellowstone Garage, Orsetto, or Suda Izakaya.
Over priced. Poor service. No ambience. Just a great view. So sad😢 given the restaurant’s fabulous view. In need of an intervention.
We came here for the last night of our honeymoon in Jackson and were blown away. The food was extraordinary, service was outstanding and the views of the Tetons were breathtaking.
We had a great time. Sitting on the deck with Teton views - it was lovely!
The outdoor furniture could be upgraded.
The only annoying thing was that we could smell the exhaust from the kitchen - obviously they were cooking salmon. Not nice...
There was an extremely rowdy group that were extremely loud and the manager participated in the loud noise
Very good service. Great atmosphere. Family really enjoyed the lunch we had there
