The Grain House Restaurant at The Olde Mill Inn
Today, the Grain House is a renowned restaurant in North/Central New Jersey, with a comfortable, casual ambiance. The restaurant serves innovative, traditional and contemporary interpretations of American cuisine with some added international accents, prepared under the direction of Executive Chef John Benjamin. Delicious homemade desserts complete the menus, which are revised several times a year. Outdoor patio dining and fireside dining are available in season.
The restaurant offers lunch and dinner daily, as well as a special brunch/lunch menu offered on Saturdays from 11 AM to 4 PM. Sunday 10AM to 2 PM. An expansive brunch buf
Good food and family environment
Simple things like a beer glass for a90 year old man should come when the waiter delivers a bottle of beer. Asking for a beer glass became a three person whisper down the lane. When out to dinner, it’s polite to wait until all toast together so it was awkward waiting. Also, simply getting water refilled require asking a few people and waiting.
Consistent quality and service. Love the copper top room, but it can get a little noisy.
Food was good, nothing extraordinary. Service was great.
I met two other friends for lunch on a Tuesday. We were seated in the pub, though I would have liked the larger room, where my husband proposed to me in 2001 at Christmastime. Fond memories. The pub was more casual, with a bar, but the service was fine and the Cobb salad was really good! Big chunks of crisp bacon, butter lettuce, blue cheese, hard-boiled egg and tomato with a light vinaigrette on the side. My friends enjoyed their lunch as well (quesadilla, 1/2 panini and lentil soup). Nice presentation. Would definitely go there again and sit in the larger room.
Unlike most places that spell "Olde" with an "e" at the end, The Olde Mill serves terrific food. Everything from fresh fish to custom blended burgers taste like what happens when top ingredients are prepared with attention to detail. Hosts and staff could not be more warm and friendly.
Calamari was very good, spicy and not chewy, salads were excellent, but my husbands French fries cool and burger overcooked
Bloody mary didn't seem to have any vodka in it but tasted fine. The food was very good.
Relaxing environment with a history.
I just love old historic buildings and the Grain House fits the bill perfectly. The service was exceptional, the food was excellent and the ambience perfect.
I have had lunch there before. This was my first dinner experience. Everyone chose something different and everyone liked what they got. I had a burger cooked medium rare as requested and good flavor Appetizer was calamari and it too was cooked properly and the calamari itself was tender. My wife had the special which was seared scallops and a thai pad thai noodle dish our guests had fillet Mignon and a different burger. Desserts did not inspire indulgence Really liked the pour on the glasses of wine.
The Grain House is my consistent meet-friends lunch place.
The avocado toast for Saturday brunch was terrible. Bread was hard and overly toasted (burnt) on the edges. The ingredients looked "thrown" on. Very little avocado but a ton of green leaf (not sure what it was).
Good food great place to eat brings you back to the George washington days
Anniversary but with extended family including grandchildren
I wish that somehow when somebody makes a reservation for breakfast or lunch or brunch hours on the weekend, there was a notification that there is only a brunch buffet. We showed up for brunch and were told there’s a buffet. Now, it’s not like we’re averse to eating brunch buffets, but neither one of us was prepared to spend $25 a person for what is essentially breakfast. It was a very nice buffet, but it was just not what we were expecting to do. There really ought to be a mechanism that informs divers about this when making a reservation. also, the location of the buffet is such that people with disabilities will have a very difficult time there. I have arthritis in my knees, and I was seated at the front of the restaurant. It is an old historic space, so I don’t expect the floors to be level, and I don’t even mind a few steps, but trying to manage the space from front to back carrying plates and glasses and things was extremely challenging, even with help.
The server was not around enough for us - this is second time we’ve had a server who just seemed overwhelmed I think they need to hire more staff
Brunch was great
We had a great Sunday brunch at the grain house, food is great with many choices plus the rustic style of the interior is appealing. Our waiter also provided us with great service. We will recommend this place to our friends and family.
The food is excellent, service is great, very nice and cozy atmosphere. Definitely will get back there!
My wife and I were there with our daughter and 2 of her teenagers. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday. It was our first visit and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will be back. The French Onion soup was particularly good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. My only regret is that we did not know about your Veteran's discount until after the fact.
Rustic atmosphere with excellent food.
As always, excellent food & service!
Went there for a St Patrick’s dinner and was surprised to find a very limited menu. Minimal Irish soda bread but our waiter , Jorge, was outstanding. He snuck us a basket full. Food was mediocre at best.
Ambiance is nice, overall an okay place.
We were there for brunch, for a buffet brunch it was quite good, the Bloody Mary was delish and the service was good and friendly
Great experience. We were celebrating my aunts birthday and came for brunch. The service was very good. Our server was attentive and they cleared our plates quickly and checked on us often. The buffet food was very good. I had smoked salmon, a small waffle, and an eggs Benedict. So good. The blueberry mango cobbler was amazing. Atmosphere is charming and rustic. Very family friendly.
Love the Grain House... food is always great and service outstanding. Would recommend it highly.
We went for brunch this Sunday and the food was excellent the carving station was awesome and the waffles and omelettes couldn’t be better. While we enjoyed the deserts we had also brought a cake for the occasion which was happily cut and served on plates.
I live in town and have never been here for brunch I will definitely be back.
Enjoyable meal experience overall. Service very good; food good to ‘good plus’! Nice to still have an old country look restaurant in the area. Cocktails were perfect!
Worth a try and will be back.
It's a nice place with lots of character and efficient (although grumpy) service. Unfortunately the food was average. Not a bad place but nothing really special either.
Meeting with good friends. Love the Grain House
I would recommend this place to anyone! Everything was fantastic just ask not to have Marie your waitress! Very bad attitude, forgot my drink, almost forgot to take my order until we said something! It was like she didn't want to be there! She did get friendly and smiley at dessert time or should I say tip time! All other servers and workers were excellent!
EXCELLENT! REALLY ENJOYED IT!
GREAT ATMOSPHERE. GREAT SERVICE!
Food was great. Service was even better.
Always delicious food, attentive service and comfortable atmosphere!
Excellent all the way around. Definitely recommend this restaurant highly.
Great historic ambiance. Informal atmosphere yet excellent food
For the price, the food was alright.
Great food, warm atmosphere and excellent service. Our waitress Amber stated she was new but we couldn’t have had better service. Our favorite restaurant in Morris County area.
A perfect place for intimate date night or any occasion. If you're looking for candle light, fire place, quiet, 5 star rating service and food, this is the place! First visit and you will always come back.
