The food and ambiance was really good. I ordered a salmon salad which was fantastice, I just wish they had given me more actual salad. We also order the Kraut Balls as an appetizer...I highly recommend them!
There is nothing new or exciting on the menu so if you're looking for anything 'creative' or adventurous, this is not the place for you. Fried chicken, a Thanksgiving roast turkey dinner, etc etc--very folksy and too down to earth for any celebration.
I ordered salmon without the maple syrup (really) and it was sooo overdone and dried out, I would barely eat it. Very disappointing and not worth its $26 price.....
The wait staff was very nice and hospitable.....
My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary with dinner at the Golden Lamb on Saturday 5/19 where we also had our rehearsal dinner. The food was fantastic as usual, as well as the service. We had a new server in training and both she and the main server she was shadowing were excellent. We were very well taken care of. And they even gifted us with a piece of the Shaker Sugar Pie which we had never had. It is now our new favorite. The Golden Lamb always holds such wonderful memories for us and we will for sure be coming back. Thank you again.
I had made the reservation online 3 weeks ahead. When we arrived the man who seated us was not very pleasant. He put our party of 8 back by the kitchen. I was very disappointed. There was constant walking back and forth thru the kitchen doors. There was so many other open tables I didn’t understand why he seated us there. My family was from out of town and I was hoping to get a good seat where they could look around. Our waitress seemed extremely rushed and not real attentive to us in general. We did get out food fairly quickly. The food was very good and everyone said that they would come back for the food.
Very enjoyable lunch with friends. Very good food and excellent service in a comfortable, historic setting! Excellent server! We willl be back soon!
Anniversary dinner- the food was very good. We come every year, and will be back.
The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere was great. I would definitely go back!
I took my wife there for a nice Mother’s Day dinner. And that is what we got. The food, service, and comfort were all top quality. We were promptly served and the service was friendly, attentive, and not at all rushed. We expected a good experience and that is just what we got!
This restaurant has maintained the quality food for a long time. Not all restaurants are able to do so.
More vegetarian options would be welcomed, maybe a vegetable plate with several choices.
Went for a late lunch for Mother's Day. Excellent food and service like always.
The food and ambiance was absolutely wonderful. The food was well prepared and delicious, as usual. We've come to expect and appreciate the quality that is signature Golden Lamb. As a long time (45+ years) customer, we've enjoyed many memorable dinners here. My only concern, and let me stress this is not what we typically experience here, was the service. While we realize that Mothers Day or any holiday is busier than expected, our waitress was clearly overwhelmed. We sat with empty glasses for the last half of our meal until we were able to flag down a busboy who graciously brought us refills. Nevermind the request for an additional item that went without response. Happily, the dinner was still great thanks to the kitchen staff - Thank You! Great job. She did come out to apologize to several tables so, she was aware of the poor quality service she was providing. Wish she had enlisted the help of other staff prior to having customers seek out help on their own. We were not her only customers who requested assistance from other staff members. Maybe some additional training would be in order.
Mother’s Day- we just wish a breakfast menu was available. The meals were quite heavy for a brunch time.
Mary our server was fantastic. A great time as always.
Always a great choice for a nice meal
Food was excellent and the atmosphere was equal. Would highly recommend it to anyone.
Everything was perfect, but so surprised and disappointed there weren't any restrooms on ground floor. That is enough for keeping us from returning.
Delicious food and excellent service. Good value. This remains a favorite place for my group to have lunch. Always look forward to the biscuits/rolls and apple butter. Also enjoy visiting the gift shop.
The golden lamb remains true to the classic restaurant with style. The traditional menu items remind one of times past when food was well prepared and served in quantities to fill you up. The new Chef Specialties portion of the menu is what keeps me coming back. New selections are available several times a year, keeping the food fresh and new.
Excellent food! We both had the Hickory Prime rib. Everything was so delicious. Our server was friendly and very accomodating. We had reservations, arrived a few minutes early and was seated right away. This was our first visit, but definitely will not be our last. We plan on making this our official anniversary dinner spot, as well as special occasions through out the year.
I proposed to my wife at the Golden lamb many years ago (1988?) We spent our wedding night there in 1989. We will be celebrating our 29th year tomorrow (7th) I remember coming to the Golden Lamb as a child with my grandparents. I have always had a wonderful experience relating to meals at the Golden Lamb. My recent experience was, as always, just such an experience!
I am never disappointed even after all these years.
We all loved our meals, the turkey dinner was delicious, loved the salad. The New York strip was amazing. Also a friend had the Lamb burger and he raves about it. We were in the last dinning room behind the front desk and the acoustics was bad. Hard to hear each other on our table of 8. However not sure what could be done about that. The other rooms are much quieter. Overall highly recommend it. Planning to go back in June.
always good food, great service, and a friendly atmosphere.
One of our favorites! It has really come into its own these past couple of years and reminds me of a hot Charleston-type restaurant. Sustainable, farm to table, support of local growers and so good. Must try if you haven't or go back if it's been awhile. You won't be disappointed. Service has improved as well and they really take good care of their guests.
Came here with my family after my daughter's soccer game. Love the setting and the food is always delicious. We loved the fried chicken and were surprised with the sticky burger. Will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
Really enjoyed the special menu for Restaurant week. Thoroughly enjoyed my selections, the Brussel sprout salad with grill cheese, Halibut over zucchini with grape tomatoes and the panna cotta desert. My husband loves the lamb burger, orders it 90% of the time we dine at the Golden Lamb or the Black Horse Tavern. Waitress was very pleasant and provided good service. There is live music in the Tavern Friday and Saturday evenings, nice atmosphere with the same menu.
Love the fried chicken basket. Did the dinner this time. Veggies were ok. Would rather have good seasoned green beans and maybe a corn pudding. Gravy on potatoes was ehhh. Salad delish. Was given sugar pie for birthday treat. No flavor except caramel it was sitting on. I have a recipe for a chess pie that you should serve instead! It is so rich and delicious. Everyone that tries it loves it.
I just thought the food was meh...but the prices were outrageous. Even with Cincinnati restaurant week it cost $70 for a not so great meal for two.
We came for restaurant week and had our 3 kids with us. The food was good, service was good although a little slow at times due to a wedding. We will be back!
Spur of the moment visit... very happy we did. Meal was excellent, beautifully presented and service friendly.
Great historic feel... and actually, is real.
Just a wonderful experience. We ordered off the Restaurant Week Menu. Devine meal Our go to restaurant for sure
Great menus, great food, great service at a reasonable price. Restaurant is historic, so seating is not the most comfortable, but the food makes up for it.
We had a wonderful time with everyone that came out to dinner this evening
Amazing! What a sweet little gem here in Cincinnati! If you haven’t been to the Golden Lamb, do yourself a HUGE favor and go. The history in itself is a worth the experience.
We LOVED our waitress. So sweet and kind. She did a great job. Very personable!!
Nice job.......very tasty food
My husband and I each had a different omelette for brunch. Both were just ok. The potatoes seemed as if they were made earlier, just thrown on the grill to reheat, and browned. The biscuit did not seem freshly baked. On the other hand, one of our friends had the fried chicken that was very good. I guess we ordered the wrong thing. Live and learn. We will go back again.
Great place to eat! Excellent food, but expensive. This place is the ideal spot for a date
Mark the server was amazing. Great knowledge and service.
We had dinner and breakfast at the Golden Lamb. Both were delicious and huge portions, more than we could eat. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and hope to return myself.
