The Golden Lamb
Dress Code: Smart Casual
This was our first time to The Golden Lamb and we were not disappointed! Everything was perfect from the food, the service, and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!!
Pork shank was incredible!
As always had a great experience at The Golden Lamb!
Visited The Golden Lamb when seeing it listed in an article as oldest restaurant in Ohio. Was in Ohio visiting a friend and we went to Lebanon for a day of shopping and lunch at The Lamb. The ambiance takes one back to the 18th century with blue washed walls, kitchen implements on the walls and period pictures. Our server was an older gentleman who could have stepped out of the period, presenting congeniality which made us feel right at home.
I ordered the turkey dinner which was cooked to perfection to rival any Thanksgiving dinner. My friend had the fried chicken which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also had the best biscuits with locally-made apple butter and a bacon-jalapeño jam which prompted her to buy a jar for home.
Our experience was the perfect topping off of a morning shopping in the quaint shops; that we returned for lunch the following day.
Living in Colorado will see me only able to visit the Lamb in future returns to Ohio; but I shall return!
We all enjoyed our time at lunch. and we will plan to return before too long. one of us has hearing issues, so that is always a problem. The Golden Lamb was not any worse for hearing than most places.
My friend and I went there for lunch. We were able to have a conversation and hear each other and not be distracted by unruly children and bad mannered adults. Other tables had families with proper dress, no cell phones out and no TVs blaring over in the corner. Highly recommend for a Proper meal not just merely shoving food in your face.
Bay scallops were awesome and the best ever! We had an excellent server too!
LindaaW, we are so glad you enjoyed your visit to the Golden Lamb! Perfect timing on the scallops — it's National Seafood Week!
It had been some time since we were there. Really enjoyed it. Food was very good and service was excellent.
The Golden Lamb does not disappoint. The quality of my favorite entree, the Turkey Dinner was excellent. The service was wonderful ant the ambiance was early American charm. Highly recommend this historic destination for your next meal.
Thank you for your feedback, StanH. It was a pleasure serving you, and we are delighted that you were able to share in our more than 215-year legacy!
We drive down here from Columbus just for the fried chicken and it didn't dissappoint at all.
Thank you, AmandaG! We are so happy to hear that you thought it was worth the drive!
We have been going here for 4 years. The renovations that have been done are gorgeous. However, the change in food is disappointing to say the least. The quality of the food has gone down so drastically we will not be returning. The food in the past had a homemade feel to it where as now it's mass produced with little attention to quality. The food came out cold and flavorless.
The Golden Lamb was so delicious and cute! The hotel makes you step back in time and has a very cozy, historic feel. I ordered the roasted turkey sandwich—not a normal pick for me—and it was delicious! The pancakes were also very good.
We love the lamb and have been going for years as a family.
Excellent service with great food. The Prime Rib was the best I have ever eaten.
We had a party of 4. We were strongly encouraged by the wait staff to try the burgers, which 3 of us did. Side items were mixed up on the plates, fries were cold. Burgers were edible but not wonderful. Our visit was more a sightseeing effort for out of town guest, but we would not seek out this restaurant for it's food
We were drawn here as part of the Cincinnati Restaurant Week, and we will absolutely be coming back. The food and service were exceptional. Classy food but in a comfortable, casual, old-time country setting. Plus the surrounding town is so cute and has lots of great places to take the family or go on a cute date with dinner. We can't wait to go back.
BradleyP, we can't wait to have you back! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed our Restaurant Week menu! You'll have to join us again for our Bounty of the Harvest menu.
Food was Awesome! The deal for Restaurant week was great!!! A definite MUST if you haven't been!
If you have not yet tried the smoked prime rib at the Golden Lamb, it is very tender and flavorful. The potato/cheese dish as a side is wonderful.
Our server , Tracy was so attentive and the food was excellant as always. and we enjoyed the new veranda.
I live within a mile from here. I have been here several times in the main Restaurant area and the Dark Horse Tavern. Amazing front to back. Not only the history and the hauntings but the food is stellar!! I rent a room on occasion and sit in the halls at night to listen to all the creaking and historical ambience. A wonderful feeling. Like staying in a museum. I obviously cant say enough!!! Staff is A+++
LocalFoodie, thank you so much! It's always amazing to hear from our guests! We love hosting you!
We visited The Golden Lamb during Greater Cincinnati Restaurant Week and were delighted with the options offered. The food was excellent, and the price was more than fair for the fare we received. Highly recommend everyone take advantage of The Golden Lamb's offerings this week.
We appreciate your feedback, JanetS! You'll have to join us for our Bounty of the Harvest menu next!
Excellent food and service in a wonderful, historic setting. The wait staff even brought the hotel historian to the table to tell us about some of the building’s history while we dined. The food was outstanding, and we enjoyed walking through the hotel to view the details of the famous guests’ history after dinner
TracyM, we love sharing our history and are so happy to hear you enjoyed your time at the Golden Lamb! We can't wait to welcome you back.
We were seated in a nice, quiet corner. My smoked pork chop was delicious, my husband said his salmon was okay. The apple cobbler (?) dessert was yummy, but our favorite of the meal was the garden zucchini toast - unique and very tasty! Overall, a very nice time at the Golden Lamb.
Excellent food, certainly the best in this town... But we felt that the pace and atmosphere of the experience was more like a fast-casual restaurant. Most Caesar salads I have had in good restaurants were much larger, this was more like a side salad, for $11. We enjoyed everything about our stay at the Inn except the three flights of stairs.
Hostess unfriendly. Pricey for what you get. Nicely remodeled. My out of town friends enjoyed it.
We always have a lovely time at the Golden Lamb and the options are even better with their newly renovated Tavern. Try the fried chicken or any of the old fashioned dinners. It tastes like home - you won’t be disappointed.
Thanks, Emily! We always love hosting you!
My first visit in about 40 years: Because I read that the Golden Lamb had changed hands, I was concerned the quality might have declined, not so. My friend and I enjoyed a delicious lunch and were treated to viewing the second-floor displays and hearing the music box, graciously cranked up by a staff member. Thanks for maintaining and enhancing this iconic Ohio destination.
JeanM, it was wonderful to welcome you back to the Golden Lamb! We are so happy to hear that you had such an enjoyable afternoon, and we look forward to welcoming you back again!
Dinner Service was well organized & executed. Portion control was not overwhelming. Sister Lizzie’s pie was very good. Beverages were on point and Chicken Dinner was probably the best item on the menu for the value. Very pleased.
One of the top 19 places to eat in Ohio before you die. The chicken wing appetizers were excellent. The rub and Smokey flavor was a wonderful way to begin the meal. The prime rib was the best I have ever eaten. We had the pleasure of both eating and staying at the Golden Lamb Hotel. I recommend doing both anytime your visiting the area.
It was an absolute pleasure to host you, SarahS! We love welcoming visitors to our historic town of Lebanon!
One of my favorite restaurants In Ohio. Guaranteed great food and service every time.
Best fried chicken anywhere
We had our anniversary dinner in the “library” room which is really lovely. Our server was attentive and saw to our every request cheerfully. I had the salmon and my husband had a steak and both were done to perfection. It was a delightful dining experience!
0ld with a new touch! Never disappoints! The food has classic and new dishes.
can't count the number of times I have dined here and that number of times are due to the great food and service that's for another great job
Great footand outstanding service. A nice dinner outing to celebrate my bi.
We were very pleased with our dining experience at The Golden Lamb. Our dinners were very good, but we did feel that we had to wait too long before our dinners were served. The piece of Sugar Pie as a birthday treat was a delicious surprise.
Sunday morning brunch with the family. Was seated at a table next to the window in a room with a large group including small children. I should note that we walked through a room with only one table seated and we were the only other party in the room with the large group. Our table had blinding light and flies in addition to hearing small children yelling and crying. Not the best atmosphere.
Overall the prices charged for brunch were not worth it when there are places that are much closer with food that is just as good or better.
Good food, great server
Fantastic food. Amazing service. The restaurant has with a wonderful warm decor. Highly recommend The Golden Lamb.
We showed up pretty early for our reservation, with one extra person, and were taken care of right away. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. We all fell in love with the way the dining room looked, both the color and the wallpaper. It’s a beautiful, classy room.
Food was delicious but not extraordinary. Server was attentive and helpful. Large table near us was a bit noisy, but not detrimental to our conversation. Overall, a lovely dinner.
