Glitretind is one of our favorite restaurants in Deer Valley. It did not disappoint. The food was delicious and the professional servers were so friendly and attentive. We were celebrating a family birthday and they worked extra hard to ensure it was a birthday to be remembered!

Mediocre at best. Service was pleasant, but very erratic. Food orders came out wrong (some dishes were just the wrong ones, while some food did not even come out at all), and food was lukewarm. Really disappointing dinner.

We arrived ahead of our 8pm reservation, only to be told that our table wasn't ready. We waited in the lobby for upwards of 20 minutes, and were then told by the hostess that our "table is ready to be sat". We walked through a restaurant of empty tables, at least half were available. Why the wait? Mise en bousche was tasty, but microscopic. Not even half a bite. The appetizers were VERY strange, including a bizarre mashup of avocado and amaranth with root vegetables, which all clashed with each other, and a squash soup which tasted mostly of overly salted chicken broth, poured over overly sweet pickled blueberries. Not hearty or thick. Again, very strange combos. Onto the main courses; the duck was extremely tough and lacked any flavor or sauce. The hazelnut farro risotto with a strange turmeric sauce would have been good had the menu omitted the word "risotto", because I can assure you, it was not that; not creamy, not risotto. The lamb was cooked properly, but again was flavorless. Then, possibly the the worst disappointment of the night, the $58 elk tenderloin was a thin square of tough meat accompanied with sliced RAW Brussel sprouts, and white sweet potatoes with truffle oil and some sort of sweet glaze (again with the bizarre flavor combos). We sent it back. Menu looks interesting, execution of every dish we tried was horrible. Save your money.

Our dining experience was very nice. However, the hostess was less than honest in accommodating our request for a seating 30 minutes later to allow us to take a carriage ride with our 11 yo granddaughter. We arrived at 7, noticed the carriages. We wanted to take the 30 minute ride at 7:15 but were told we could not be seated until 8:30 if we did. Concerned over such a late dinner, we opted to not take the ride.

During the course of our dinner, two other tables for six vacated within a half hour and neither was filled. It was clear, that a table would have been available at 7:45. Our table could have been held for 30 minutes, or better yet, the center room round table that opened up could have been set for us to provide us with a spectacular view.

In retrospect, we should have taken the ride and taken our chances at seating earlier than 8:30. Having not done so is my one regret on our family vacation. Wish I’d taken the ride and then dined elsewhere!

Your staff should be more forthright and accommodating than self serving to their hidden agenda when guests are willing to spend over a thousand dollars on a meal.

Regretful in St. Louis,
Joseph Lombardo

Started out well, but waiter never checked back after we received meal to see if it met expectations or if we needed another glass of wine. Requested “just pink” for lamb, which waiter indicated would be medium-rare, not medium as requested. Meat came out rare, but never had a chance to question. Maitre’d did stop by and only after he pressed did I express my disappointment over service. When we were leaving, he offered to provide dessert to go , but did not adjust the bill.

We have been to the restaurant and number of times and love the food, but were very disappointed with the experience this time around given the expectations of a restaurant if this caliber. It was spring break, so most of the tables were full families, which made the noise level very high and likely impacted the service. But, the restaurant should be used to this environment.

The wait staff, food, and setting are exceptional. We enjoyed every flavor thoroughly. We could have done without Teshawna rolling her eyes and pursing her lips at any request or comment a guest made. She doesn’t fit it with the rest of the experience. A hostess is the first impression of a dining experience and she didn’t elevate her behavior to match the rest. Regrettable

Very expensive, so maybe I am holding it to a higher standard. Had the signature dish, the elk. It was fine, but certainly nothing special. A little dry. The potatoes on the dish were the highlight. Others had the duck and liked it, though not very special. My son had the beef. It was very dry, and a little tough, otherwise had decent flavor.
This is supposed to be one of the premier dining experiences in Park City, maybe it is, but if so that speaks poorly for the rest of Park City’s restaurants. It was very over priced for what you get food wise, but the ambiance is very nice, and at Deer Valley that is what it’s all about.

We arrived on time, but waited 15 minutes to be seated with no apology. For a venue that prides itself on “fine dining”, the host and hostess were overly casual in appearance and demeanor. Once seated, service proceeded at a crawl. For example, after a long wait, our server told us our entrees were being plated, but it was still another 10-15 minutes before the food actually arrived. We had to flag down another server to request our check.
Ingredients were high quality, but the chef tried to combine too many unusual flavors. Overall, a disappointing experience

Possibly one of the finest meals we have ever had. Food expertly prepared and not covered in heavy sauces but prepared to perfection. Service was superb. The venue is gorgeous. If you are there in winter, have the horse drawn sleigh ride beforehand and sit with mulled wine in front of the huge fireplace. This was an evening to remember.

Food was really good, but execution really lacked. The place was very loud. Waiters apologized for the noise as it was coming from a table of drunks. Instead of dealing with the drunks, they kept serving them more wine and they got progressively louder even though the restaurant was clearing out as other tables finished and left. The food was great, though 3 out of 4 of our meat dishes were severely under cooked. Two were ordered medium and one medium well. They came out rare and medium rare, so they just ate around the rare/raw meat and then my son and I ate the raw pieces. The waiter came by right after we were served, but we hadn't even cut into the meat so didn't realize the issue when he came by. We didn't see a waiter again until we were done. He felt bad and did knock one of the dishes off of the bill which was nice - though it would have been nicer if they'd fixed it.They forgot to bring out the bread twice, and didn't even acknowledge that we were there to celebrate an anniversary. Not the end of the world, but it would have been nice - since I was asked when I made the res. The elk was fantastic, but it was on the pricey side. It was about 3 ounces for $58. I didn't mind the price, but figured I'd get about 6-8 ounces. The decor and ambiance was nice, but the area we were in did have a very low ceiling. Perhaps that's why the noise level was so high. That was really a dis-satisfier as we had a table of 6 and couldn't have a table level conversation - we could only talk to those right next to us. It was so loud you couldn't chat from one side of the table to the other. To make matters worse - later in the evening the drunks' kids showed up and were playing video games or listening to music without headphones making the disturbance worse. I'd expect that at a fast food restaurant, not a nice lodge. The desk asked us if we had a fantastic time and we simply answered that it was okay. They didn't press for details, so we didn't offer any.

Hadn’t visited for a couple of years and now regret letting that time go by. Just a wonderful fine dining experience. The service was extremely attentive and clearly a team effort. The dining room has a mountain elegance that the cavernous new places can’t match.

The food of course was excellent. The smoked salmon accompanied by a chilled sweet potato salad was excellent with a rich smoky flavor. The butternut squash soup was rich without being so filling it infringed on the mains. The salads were well presented and had some great original touches.

For entrees, the elk loin was cooked perfectly as requested (one of our party had medium-rare and the other medium). The truffle au gratin white sweet potatoes and perfectly cooked brussel sprouts we great accompaniments. One in our party asked for the Agnolotti appetizer as a lighter option for a main and the server nicely asked if the kitchen should add a little extra to provide a little closer to an entree. That was perfect- still light but enough to make a meal.

Deserts were equally good with the home made ice creams well done but the Carmel Apple Sphere can not be missed. A frozen outer shell of carmel that started melting away as a carmel sauce was poured on top. Inside, cold ice cream, warm cake, and other sweet surprises.

My only challenge of the night was finding a wine. Not that there aren’t a lot to choose from. Maybe 25 pages in the list. But entry point for California Cabs was around $250. Bordeaux similar. Had to really hut for a wine in the $100-150 range. Ended up with a nice Zinfandel. But with a 25 page wine list a few less $2500 bottles and a few more $150 bottles would be nice. It’s not that a $250 bottle isn’t something we’d enjoy for a special occasion but this was just a nice dinner out with friends and as much as it’s a great classic meal, it’s not a top 100 US restaurant that demands higher end wine to complement the meal.

Very disappointing, except for Cesar who was incredibly hard-working and eager to please. The rest of the staff seemed indifferent to our experience and twice we were brought the wrong item entirely. The chef’s soup was so salty that it was inedible. Entrees were a mixed bag with our group: a couple of excellent proteins, all sides were only average and a couple of the meals were again far too salty to really enjoy.

Seated at a table for 4, 3 place settings, had to ask for a 4th prior to appetizer; each boy ordered a sprite, both were flat with no syrup; server asked if we were ready to order before my wife and I even had been served a drink...served our drinks and asked if we were all ready to order. At these prices, you need to get it right and certainly not rush people. Presentations were nice and food was good at best...would not recommend to others...wish we would have eaten in the lounge area.
