This is a great neighborhood restaurant. The food was really, really good. We had the Sweet Potato Parm Fritters, Scallops in Grilled Salsa, Gnocchi with Confit Duck, Steak Frittes and Petit Fillet Mignon. All were great. The standout by far was the Gnocchi. Nice atmosphere but a little loud. Nice service but they were busy and training someone so a little slow but nothing really to complain about. It was more loud that I thought it would be given the reviews. But none of these would keep me from coming back. The parking situation, though, is a bit of a challenge. We did find parking in front of Starbucks on Comm Ave. Which honestly wasn't a far walk. If I lived in the neighborhood or could take the T to The Glenville Stops, this would be a restaurant in a regular rotation for me. But since I'm car dependent it's a bit more of a challenge. Loved it though.

The Glenville Stops is a neighborhood gem -- beautifully appointed, under-attended, and phenomenal food. Tasty, creative, unique small plates and main dishes; an extensive wine list and plenty of beers to choose from. Hard to park nearby, but that might only help it remain our favorite secret place.

This is a great local spot for really satisfying appetizers and a wine list that is priced right. We tried the gnocchi, lamb meatballs, beef cigars, filet and mussels. The filet was delicious, moderate in size and priced well. The gnocchi with duck was our favorite appetizer and the lamb meatballs were a close second.

Great find while on vacation in Mass.
Close to where I was staying, I chose it because of it’s high Zagat ratings. Ambiance was nice with Tiffany style hanging lights. Food was very good . Asked for a wine recommendation and the extremely shy owner came over however his input was exceptional. Although very good service overall, since they have expensive wines ; I believe more training should be done to the staff in decanting and pouring without spilling.

This place wins the flavor award. I can't think of a dining experience I have had recently where every dish was so innovative and pleasantly surprising in terms of taste/texture/presentation. Smoked carrots with lentil puree? Who does that?! So yummy! I am not a vegetarian, but I noticed that many of our favorites from that night were non-meat. We will be back and hope that this review and others like it don't ruin our ability to get a table!

Food was awesome at every level. Excellent drunken goat cheese, and roasted beet appetizers. The salmon was superb, but the lamb shank was brilliantly prepared and the best lamb shank I have ever had. Even the cappuccino was world class. I definitely have already raved about GS to several friends. Be prepared to walk from parking since it is scarce in the neighborhood, but we didn't mind. It was well worth it. Great find!!!
Will definitely be back. I have to experience that lamb shank again!

Very good food. Last time we ate here was over a year ago though and we were surprised that nothing on the food menu had changed. That being said, the food is very good. Large beer and wine selection as well. Last time we were there, we were seated on the right side of the restaurant which was a lot quieter. This time we were seated to the left in the restaurant (in a more open area) and we could hear all the other conversations around us. There was also a very loud table right behind us so we could not hear each other and we didn’t want to stay very long.

A lovely evening at The Glenville Stops. The vibe is neighborhood gem, out of the way on a side street, with little adjacent parking (we took a chance and parked close by, in the permit-only zone, and were fine; there is said to be legit parking a short walk away). Warm welcome from the super-friendly and attentive staff, in the airy-yet-cozy dining area with high ceilings, warm wood wrap-around bar, golden yellow walls and partial views of the kitchen. The menu has a little something for everyone, without being overwhelming (but no gluten-free bread, sigh- sandwiches are offered naked). Lots of seafood and Mediterranean influences. Fried cheese with oregano and honey (minus bread): yummy, squeaky cheese like Kasseri! Mussels in lemongrass-coconut broth with ginger: delicious, even for a non-fan of mussels. Roasted half-chicken with potatoes and finely chopped ratatouille: perfectly done and made great leftovers the next day. My husband happily inhaled the Moroccan phyllo-wrapped chicken fingers.
Too bad we didn’t have room for dessert! If we lived close by, we’d come often.

The Glenville Stops is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. It's a family business and everyone is welcoming and pleasant. The food is always delicious, and it's a chill place to unwind after a long week. The beer and wine selection is well-chosen (it's a good thing they don't have a full liquor license or I'd probably never leave). If you happen to go in June, make sure to get the amazing strawberry shortcake. I'm sad every year when it's out of season!

There were six of us dining, we were late due to traffic heading to the city so we called and they said no problem. The meals and apps were all very good. Everyone liked there meal, I got the salmon which was good but didn't have alot of flavour. Most of us got the baklava and it was wonderful. We would definitely go back next time we are in town.

I found Glenville Stops in a list of restaurants in the Brighton area. It was advertised as a great value with delicious food. We were not disappointed! Three of us shared several small plates. Each dish we ordered was superb - rich in flavor, surprising in its combinations (who knew that pheasant tastes so good with homemade gnocchi?!), and very reasonably priced. We highly recommend this place!

The best date spot in Allston! The service here is always on point and the food is consistently delicious and filling in a very comfortable environment with and excellent drink selection. I have been coming here for three years since my third date with my girlfriend and will always hold this restaurant in high regard!

We had the gnocchi with pheasant to start which was so good.

The food after that was not so great. I got a steak which was tough and not very flavorful. My partner got the chicken which was fine but pales in comparison to the starter. All of the small dishes looked very interesting so I may be back to try them. Though the entrees we had fell flat on their faces. I would recommend someone to go, but really only stick to the small plates.

I would come back in a heartbeat! What a lovely place! The decor was relaxing and a little whimsical without being too forced, the lighting was just right, the prices reasonable, and the dishes delicious. We had a variety of selections and we each enjoyed what we ordered. The service was very good in that our server was perfectly pleasant. A little more attention would not have gone amiss but it was certainly sufficient overall. I have already recommended it to a friend!

Cozy setting tucked away from the hustle of Comm and Harvard Avenues makes this worth the walk. Small plates were very interesting and uniformly good, and the walnut-pistachio baklava a great finish. We would return for a meal and setting that are a cut above the typical Allston experience.

The food was delicious and inventive--very cool flavor combinations (Drunken Goat Cheese, Moroccan Beef Cigars) and savory goodness (Wild Mushroom Ravioli). The service was great, and the ambiance was perfect--lighting that was not too dark, and music that was not too loud. It was easy to appreciate it but also still have a conversation. And again, the food was amazing! We will definitely be coming back for more!

We arrived early (6:30pm) on a snowy Saturday night and had our pick of tables. We chose a table for 2 in the room adjacent to the bar, and found the ambience to be extremely pleasant. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and very good. The menu is fairly short, but the choices were excellent and we very much enjoyed our food. ($25 Petite filet for her, and two $12 small plates of lamb meatballs and wild mushroom ravioli for him). Honorable mention to the bread for the table--it was excellent. The wine list lacked Prosecco (our favorite) but the Brut Cava ($40) was a very suitable substitute. The rest of the beer and wine list looked great, too. We will definitely return next time we are in the neighborhood. We found parking a few blocks away on Harvard Street in order to be close to our ultimate destination for the evening.

This place feels like it could be in the middle of the suburbs although you're in Allston. It felt like we were right at home. They have a great menu. We did not like the oysters, we sent them back. I had the mussels and they were delicious. Please note they only serve wine and beer!

It was evident that the Glenville Stops over expanded and could not keep up with a demand of a full restaurant. Service was very slow, and the waitress’ explanation was, “We have a small kitchen.” Unsure of why they added more space and tables if their kitchen cannot keep up? Nonetheless, the food wasn’t bad!
