Fun place, not as crowded as my prior visit. The temp was a bit too cool for my family. Nice they validate for the garage next door but still about $4.50
The Glendon Bar & Kitchen has really food and drinks for anyone. The flatbread appetizers were very good and served to us quickly. The happy Hour pricing did not hurt. Had a Jane Fonda Cocktail that was refreshing and tasty. The Crab Pasta dish was light and flavorful. Overall a fine place with moderate pricing and very good fare. Service is top notch.
the food was so expensive! $17.965 for pasta! crazy!!
Poor service, long waits to make and receive orders. They were courtesy and smiles given. No accommodation whatsoever and tried charge a gratuity for people that never showed up. I wouldn't recommend it to no one. This was my second time there and poor service and rudeness both times.
I hated being there
We were the only ones there and still the service was terrible
Couch seating was stupid and uncomfortable
Also artichoke still had stickers on them yuk
Never going back
Food ok - house burger tasty, salmon sandwich kinda dry. Sweet potato fries wonderful! My main issue - too noisy. It was much more a bar than an eatery.
Great place to meet up with friends or to enjoy a romantic evening. I shared the wings, beef sliders, Brussels sprouts and a pizza and all of them were fantastic!
I have season tickets to the Geffen and this is a great apres theatre spot. The restaurant is lively and the servers are very friendly and accommodating. They have a really good Happy Hour. Great flatbreads and love the crab louie salad!
Maybe the Glendon was having a bad might (Staff no show or whatever.) As usual, the food was excellently prepared and excellently presented. As for the rest...it was dreadful. The room was jam packed, noisy, and our high table near the bars was closely packed with its neighbors. On three occasions, wait staff bumped into me as they were walking behind. In an unpleasant turn of events, we waited on our waitress rather than she waiting on us. She was inattentive and the promised water and food did not arrive anywhere near the promised time. We had to seek out another waiter to get our bill. Although we arrived right on time, reception staff did not check us into Open Table. If this was other than a bad night, this is a restaurant to avoid.
I have dined at The Glendon Bar & Kitchen several times before and I must say this time it was horrendous. Even when the manager (professionally wearing a Reagan/Bush 84" trucker cap) came over to apologize for the horrendous service (waited 20 minutes before asking for someone to help us, no one seemed to know which tables belong to whom, again waited another 5 min AFTER our food arrived for flatware/napkins to be brought to the table and then had to ask 3 people for our check) to which said manager promised to "take care of" us by comp a round of drinks unfortunately he could not be found once the bill arrived and no, nothing was comped and we were FAR from "being taken care of..."
Great bar and food restaurant. We frequent quite often when we go to The Geffen for a play
Our group had a fun time here for Happy Hour before a show at the Geffen Playhouse. Lots of great options at good prices, excellent for sharing. We were forgotten a few times by our server and literally chased someone down to pay our bill, but that didn't detract from a pleasant evening.
The parking was suggested at the Palazzo Plaza, not aware of the extra cost ($17.50 w/ validation), and no alternatives were provided. Also, parking was limited on the disabled parking was in the back of the lot which made it difficult for wheel chair loading and unloading.
I had my birthday dinner here and there was a mix-up in my reservation. I was irritated at first but very understanding as I have worked in food before and know sometimes situations occur that are hard to deal with. The staff was very apologetic and extremely nice towards me and my friends. I come here often so I was not disappointed. Cannot wait to go back!
This is a great little gem in the middle of Westwood. Delicious happy hour menu and a great place to go before or after theater. The menu is creative and always delicious and the wine menu is great. It's very comfy and the service is always fantastic. We come here again and again!
this place was empty. the food could have been interesting but it was mediocre. we thought we would try something different in westwood, but did not succeed.
First time at this restaurant & we were pleasantly surprised. Food was good, and good value. Restaurant was full, so service was a tad slow at first, but once they got going, all was good.
The decor in this place is bleak - definitely reflects its college town vibe. The food was flavorful and well cooked - the pasta with cream sauce was very tasty. The Happy Hour menu has good pricing on food and drinks, and there are some interesting signature cocktails to try. Note that if you order the salmon, that is exactly what you get: a plain hunk of grilled salmon on a bare plate - no garnish or anything, so be sure to order one of the a la carte items if you want a starch or vegetable with it. Also, note that there is validated parking in the garage which you enter adjacent to the restaurant.
Best happy hour in Westwood. Good selection of food and drink. Lively bar scen
Loved the service and food selection, great for vegeterians as well. Not too kid friendly but looks like a fun Friday night spot, lots of young people since it's located right by UCLA.
Terrible service and staff was oblivious to the fact. Staff was more interested in themselves and their college buddies than the people that were paying the bills. Food was sub-par at best. Better options available in the area.
I'm in the area occasionally for plays at the Geffen, and thought I would try a new place. I sat for 15 minutes before I was even greated by a server, then waited long periods for my drink, then my salad and then my main course and finally cancelled my desert due to a time crunch. An hour and 20 minutes burned up for fancy named mediocre bar food. Needless to say, I won't be recommending or returning. There are much better choices within a few steps.
The service was so slow. The waitress continually passed us while ignoring our attempts to get her attention and the food and drinks took at least 20 minutes to arrive.
I had initially made a reservation for a small group - we had a coworker and long-time friend who was moving on to a new job and we wanted to celebrate with good drinks and great food. Unfortunately people in LA seem to like to RSVP at the last possible second, and I was notified about two hours before our arrival time that our small group had grown to a party of 30+! In a panic I called the restaurant - not wanting to disappoint my friend. Not only were they friendly and sympathetic to my situation, but they managed to work some magic and accommodate our crowd, giving us plenty of space in their upstairs room. Once we were there the waitress assigned to our party really outdid herself and worked non-stop to make sure we were all happy. I can't praise her enough for her attentiveness and patience with our big group.
Great restaurant if you're under 40 and like a noisy, fun environment. The menu is good and the happy hour is great, but don't plan on any intimate conversations.
Unusual menu items and good for quick meal before a show. Really like the salmon burger.
Why don't we get Open Table points?
The Glendon is basically a beer and wine pub with food as an afterthought. If that is what you are looking for, then I recommend it. It is also reasonably priced.
Take advantage of the happy hour and get reasonably priced appetizers that serve as a pre theater meal. Close to the Geffen theatre and theatre parking
I was in town on a solo business trip, and had a ticket for the nearby theater. Found this place on Open Table and the menu seemed nice. When I got there, I chose to sit at the bar. After chatting with the friendly bartender, and ordering a drink and some things from the happy hour menu, the place exploded. The UCLA business school was having an event there and in just mere moments, the place was jam-packed with college students piling up around me at the bar. From perfectly quiet to ear-splitting decibels of noise. I chowed down as quickly as possible, with the throngs pushed at my back and sides. The bartender was very apologetic, and had no idea this was going to happen. He even offered me a free drink for my patience and understanding. It's a shame. The wings were excellent and the pizza was very good. I would go back, but just make sure there are no events scheduled!!
We (a party of 4) went to the Glendon on a Sunday eve before a show at the Geffen... there was only one waiter on duty covering at least 15 active tables. After a while, the hostess and (I believe a bus-person) started bringing out dishes from the kitchen. Drinks/appetizers came delayed and just prior to main dishes.
Because there was inadequate staffing (and staff running around trying to cover), I saw 2 groups leave without ever getting seated and one couple take a seat at an open table without getting seated -- don't know if they got served or not.
Food was OK, but nearly impossible to get additional condiments, etc.
We were there for just under 90 minutes; much too much of the time was without our food or drink. We won't be going back if there's a show scheduled.
Good food. Nice ambiance. High ceilings. It was a little understaffed when we went, as it was summer and the college kids were mostly gone. Interesting drink menu. Kind of pricey, but a good find overall.
If you are not deaf when you enter this restaurant, you will be upon leaving. Which is a shame, because the food (the Westwood salad with grilled salmon) was excellent, and the smiling and attentive server was pleasant and efficient. But the noise level actually produced a headache from the echoing and reflective hard surfaces. Will only return at lunch (never at happy hour) to see if the thundering swell is diminished.
Nice place and good location however the noise factor was rather overwhelming and it was difficult to have a conversation with my wife/girlfriend
Staff was trying hard but not exactly succeeding - -they repeatedly brought plates to our table that someone else had ordered - -need to get their act together
The food was good but rather average - -would recommend for drinks and appetizers, not a full-course dinner
The restaurant seemed disorganized regarding the OpenTable reservation. They seemed to be tracking the reservations in a notebook, and not using a computerized system.
The food was good but the service was nonexistent. We had to ask for water when they delivered too few, and they never refilled the glasses or came to ask.
The ambiance is very noisy, but looks quaint and rustic. I am glad the food was good, otherwise the experience would be considered terrible.
You won't be seated until your full party arrives so make a reservation.....and they are so busy make sure they mark Open Table so you get credit, Food is yummy. Very noisy great location if you're going to the Geffen.
Good food. Way too loud. The group of guys next to us were extremely annoying. It is not a sports bar so people shouldn't be yelling while watching sports games
I enjoyed the burger with the egg and fried jalapeños. It came with an interesting Caesar salad. Interesting in a good way. I'll go back definitely, as I work right next door!
The Glendon has a nice menu and good food. However, the service is extremely slow and not very attentive. It took about 15 minutes for somebody to come by and take our food order after we had put in our drink order. This is the second time I've been here in the past three weeks and the service was just as slow as the first time. The servers are nice and the food is very good and reasonably priced. I just wish they would put an extra server or two on duty and speed up the service.
The Glendon is still our first call for a quick or long bite to eat before seeing a show or event in Westwood or UCLA. The happy hour prices for food and drink are great, but despite those discounts the regular menu has plenty of options for delicious healthy and naughty tastes that also won't break the bank. With 3 of us we share several items on the menu so we could make our own "small plates". Every item, from the BLT to the sliders, to the Glendon pizza (thin crust and flavorful), to the chopped salad; all were devoured. The service is great..on our night, they were surprised with a group of 20 that just happened to "drop in"...we watched as the staff artfully and graciously welcomed the group and all that goes with it.
The chairs were very stained - otherwise the food was good but the chairs and tables need a little TLC?
