Definitely wouldnt return as Brunch was well below average. Service was very poor, and management staff wasn't familiar that I wanted to make sure that they knew I booked my reservations via OPENTABLE. They need to get it together.
Our table was not cleaned well. The prixe fix brunch menu had no breakfast items on it. The food was just above a chain restaurant. They added a 22% gratuity for a party of three. Sadly very disappointed.
Sunday brunch spots can be crowded but Glass Door is tucked away and you can usually just walk in with no reservation. Unfortunately the food has gone downhill since I was last there, so breakfast is just okay now but the beautiful view and charming service keeps it on my recommend list. They changed the outside patio from tables for two to a long counter with seating facing the water, which accommodates more guests.
Some pluses, food is order off the menu and even at 10:30 AM you can choose from breakfast or lunch choices so good for a group.
Glass Door roof top bar is one of the rare jewels in spectrum of restaurants in Little Italy!
Kind of hidden if you don't know about it or never seen the beautiful terrace from India street where most of the restaurants and dinning in Little Italy are...
Ever since I discovered with my husband one night it become my favorite bar...
Where should I begin... The view is amazing, the food is just delicious.. The prices are great..and the friendly helpful staff is always around!
My favorite and the best host is Richard the guy who can make all your bar wish come true... Richard the greatest!:)))
I celebrated there my birthday, my wedding party, friends night out.. Etc
With two words the BEST BAR I know in Little Italy - I always come back!:)))))
Used to go here a few years ago and it was lively and fun. This time, there was hardly anyone in there on a Saturday night. The service was bad, the menu was nothing special and a bit overpriced in my opinion. My salmon salad was literally salmon on top of lettuce with two tiny pieces of cucumbers. They need help!
It's exactly that, food was delicious but even after 6 shared plates between 3 people we all still left hungry. The beef carpaccio was literally 3 bites, beautiful view though that's the biggest draw
The service was horrible here. We sat for a very long time before anyone waited on us or even acknowledged we were there.
Went here for Valentine 2016. Has a nice view of the bay and wentr right beforse sunset and enjoyed a prix fixe dinner menu while the sun laid to rest. You get nice night time views from the city lights. The food was excellent highly recommend the Wagu Steak if they have it on the menu
nice looking place but service is awful. they were out of what I ordered and never told me about it. Lots of other more friendly places in the area.
Service was horrible. We waited 30 minutes before anyone came to the table.
We enjoyed our visit to the Glass Door. The view is really something else and it's probably the best thing about the restaurant. The menu doesn't have that much to offer in terms of variety but we were happy with our dish of short ribs. It's a bit hard to enjoy the view from inside, especially if there's a line of people sitting at the outside seats. The restaurant is basically the bar, both from the point of view of the menu as well as the noise level. The place is great if your expectations are aligned correctly.
The restaurant was surprisingly not crowded on a Saturday evening. We had our choice of tables and were attended to quickly. The entire restaurant has more of a "bar" feeling and the menu is not extensive (with more appetizers than than dinner options), however every single food item we ordered was delicious! And the view is just awesome!
Our very expensive fixed price New Year's Eve dinner was a big disappointment. It took forever to get our salad, which was the best part of the 3 course dinner. The main course was about 30 minutes after the salad and of poor quality and quantity. Even the vegetable were not fully cooked and were cold and hard. The dessert was served about 30 minutes after we finished main course and it was awful. Neither of us in our party or 2 could eat it.
With all the great restaurants located around the area, I would actually walk the short distance to one of these.
The value for the price was very poor.
Food was cold, lacking flavor and late. Service was sub par: poor wine etiquette, inconsistent, and inexperienced. Complained to management who comped 10% off of the final bill which was still did not make the overall experience worth it.
Service was horrible. We had to let our waiter know anytime and every time we wanted or needed something, he got my order wrong then didn't want to replace it, and were being hurried out so our table could be added for a large party, when we made reservations and were told to sit wherever we liked. It was our first time, and probably our last.
Food was good short ribs were very good
Liked the Brussel sprout appetizer
They charged for the bread which in a moderately expensive restaurant seems unusual
Go to The Glass Door for the San Diego harbor and city views. Do not go to The Glass Door for the food. How can a Cesar Salad be boring? These guys managed to do this. The sliders were Ok. Period.
Celebrated mutual birthdays for brunch, it was a perfect day, enjoyed the venue and food, we will definitely be back ... having the free 2 hour valet parking is a real plus, and appreciated
Average food. Slightly less than average service. Web site states valet parking but valet was only available to hotel guests and not restaurant guests. Parking is tough in Little Italy and the valet parking was one of the reasons I selected this restaurant. Nice view but you can find that at other places.
Not horrible but not special in anyway except for the view.
Our waitress was lacking in social skills and attentiveness for most of our visit, even checking on a special for me and never coming back to actually confirm what it was. Our drinks were left empty, we were not asked if we wanted more, nor offered water. And had to wait quite awhile to get our check. Had service been better we most likely would have stayed longer.
The service was bad only because there was only one waiter for the whole place at 5pm on a Friday! We felt terrible for the waiter, he was trying to hard. The management should ashamed. The food was ok. Maybe I just got the wrong thing. The view is amazing but I doubt I would go back or recommend.
We walked in and the place was beautiful and the hostess gave us a choice of where we could sit. The server came up and got our drink orders right away, gave us our drinks...and then we didn't see him for almost 20 minutes. We were there at 7:30...so really there's no mistaking whether or not we are there for a meal. He dropped off the appetizer after we were finally able to order it, then ran off without giving us silverware or napkins or plates to share. He made it seem like we were bothering him because every time he dropped something off we would ask for something else. I was a server for a really long time, and I know when things are busy it is hard to keep up, so we were patient....but it was not busy. That was one of the charms, it seemed to be fairly empty which made you feel like you found a hidden gem. Had to ask for water and then another 20 minutes of missing server we were finally able to order our food....after asking if we could order our food...luckily it was delicious because we never got the "how is everything?" question. One person in our group had been several times and she said it is always the same story. great food and views, service is pretty awful. Luckily it was priced fairly, so i guess that balances things out a bit...
Website states they specialize in seafood. Only 1 seafood entrée on the menu. People arriving after us got their meals before us. In spite of negatives, my short rib entrée was delicious.
Service was terrible, food was terrible. I will never return to this restaurant. It's not worth it just for the view.
The restaurant has nice views and cute decor. I made a reservation for 8 in advance. My family & I were celebrating Father's day. The 1 waitress/bartender/bosser Krissy was friendly and tried her best, however she was the ONLY one there. Service was an issue but not Krissy's fault. She was all alone and had to tend to the Father's day brunch rush. I am not exaggerating but it took us nearly 30 min to simply order. After waiting forever for our food to be prepared, food was terrible, dry, tasteless, and cold!!! Biggest waste of $300 ever! Don't waste your money or your time by going to Glass Door for anything!
They need to have friendlier service people for Sunday buffet brunch.
The hostess was not professional.
I'm so happy I celebrated my birthday there! Excellent service and delicious food!
The view was utterly fantastic and gorgeous. The ambiance of the restaurant is unique and pretty. The food left much to be desired though. Nobody in my group of 4 enjoyed their meals. The duck fat fries sounded much better than they tasted. The lamb was dry, the sauce did not compliment the lamb, and the couscous was bland. The chicken was TINY and flavorless. The burger was nothing special. The best part of my meal was the strawberry mojito and house Cabernet. I've heard that the brunch experience here is much better, and that the $10 bottomless mimosas alone are worth it. I'd be willing to come back to try brunch, but never again for dinner! Not worth the money!
The restaurant is gorgeous & the view even more so. I had eaten here once before & loved it. I made a reservation for 8 nearly 3 weeks in advance. My family & I were celebrating my 30th bday. The staff was friendly however there was only one bartender on a Saturday evening & one server. I am not exaggerating but it took us nearly 40 min to get our 1st round of drinks. We were all happy & celebrating so we choose to not complain. The waiter finally took our order & 1 hour later we had not received any of the appetizers or our 2nd round of drinks. We were not the only patrons that were upset & waiting. In fact smaller groups left. My father & boyfriend made the call for us to leave! I was disappointed because this was a very special dinner for me. The chef & manager pleaded with us to stay but the damage was done. Luckily we were in Little Italy & found a great Italian restaurant right around the corner that was perfect!!!
The only decent thing about this restaurant was the view, you were lucky enough to get a seat outsude. The food was terrible, tasteless, and too dry to eaat without water. Not to mention, we were handed menus, told to seat ourselves, with not one open table. The place was smelly and a mess. Youre in Little Italy, make a better choice. Disappointed
Though boasting a splendid panoramic view of the harbor and Little Italy, this establishment has very little else going for it. To sum up, it is a typical, bland hotel restaurant with overpriced and mediocre grub, poorly mixed drinks, and-- aside from the view-- no real sense of ambience.
Our server was both competent and friendly, so service was no issue. Just wish some effort at all had been put into the menu. Disappointing way to waste a date night.
Enjoyed view. You have nice people working for you. The music was so loud that it ruined the dining experience. Friday was loud and Saturday was off the chart loud. I don't call that energetic. I call it extremely annoying. If it hadn't been raining I would have gone outside. My guess is that you pipe that horrible music out there. First night's dinner was good with the steak entree. We thought we'd try your duck fries before ordering dinner on Saturday. They were undercooked. Your complementary breakfasts were good. I would not have dinner here again.
Lovely view of San Diego. Service was attentive, food credible. My friends loved the scallop dish. My duck was pretty good. The salad also was decent. I don't like high stools, find them slightly comfortable, and that is mostly what is possible there.
This restaurant is becoming a family favorite. It is really a bar with some extra table seating, but the menu is good--nice selection of salads, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. Preparation is creative and fresh. The bar is well lit and attractively decorated. I feel comfortable there with my well-behaved 9 and 14 year old children with sophisticated palates. They like the pulled pork burger and scallops. Service is good. View is outstanding.
The appetizer lentil & ham hock soup was very flavorful and probably one of the best lentils I've had, but my entree steak was not really seasoned and was "eh" overall. The chocolate cake was also kind of dry. Nothing was horrible/bad, but I wouldn't return. Service was great though and they had a beautiful view of San Diego!
Got right in before our reservation time, & the staff was very nice. Unfortunately, our waitress was terrible at her job. I ordered a cocktail & my appetizer came before my cocktail. My husband's drink sat empty for almost 15 minutes, with the waitress AND THE OWNER walking past it four times. My entree was very good (we ate there for thanksgiving, so I had the turkey dinner), but my husband was not impressed with his pan seared cod. There was also a very loud party at the table next to us, but that wasn't the staff's fault. It was just annoying.
I was traveling to California to spend Thanksgiving with my son who is based at Camp Pendleton. I was looking for a restaurant that would serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The Glass Door advertised that it was doing so.
For Thanksgiving they had a price fixe menu that really fit the bill. It started with a lamb shank barley soup that was excellent. For the main course I had free range turkey, cornbread stuffing, yams, masked potatoes, and mushrooms. For dessert I topped it off with pumpkin pie.
The service was outstanding with two waitresses and the owner checking up that we were satisfied. We were and I would highly recommend it.
The service was excellent, the view was great, the process were good, and the food was good. No complaints.
This is actually more of a bar than a dining room though they do have tables and a full dinner menu. The neat thing is they have a balcony with seats facing the view which would be great for small parties (1-3). Larger groups than that, it's difficult to hold a conversation. Perfect for drinks.
The menu is suited for sharing dishes and everything was delicious. The service started off a bit slow but then was fine. The one poor waiter did a really good job staying on top of things once he got rolling.
The actual dining tables are in the bar area and it is very loud. Fine for social gatherings but I wouldn't do a business meal there again due to the noise level.
Waiter unfamiliar with menu. Service very slow/drinks order +30 mins. Food portions tiny.
