About The Ginger Man
The Ginger Man opened in Greenwich in August of 2002 and instantly became one of the area’s most popular restaurants. Known for its warm and inviting atmosphere, the Ginger Man is a favorite among Greenwich locals and neighboring communities. Whether you are looking for a quick burger (maybe the best burger anywhere!), sandwich, or salad with friends or an intimate dinner at a table by the fireplace, The Ginger Man offers you a unique dining experience.
The Ginger Man’s menu accommodates people of all ages with everything from grilled cheese to entrée-sized salads and two to three fish selections daily. The restaurant still uses a real butcher from the New York City marketplace to hand pick its steaks and blend that special mix for its famous burgers.
The Ginger Man features 23 taps, 80+ bottles and a well chosen wine list from small and large Vineyards around the world. The Ginger Man’s burgers and beers were voted “best burger” and “best beer selection.”

The Ginger Man Ratings and Reviews
Ginger Man is our go-to spot for a simple but good meal and a beer. Their selection of beer is extensive and one of the few places around to get our favorite Belgian beers. It can be very lively on the weekends, but for a rainy Monday night the atmosphere was cozy and pub like.
Recently moved to Greenwich and just took a chance on trying the restaurant. We had a wonderful time, from the hostess to the waiter and food, all excellent!!!. Returned four times with family and friends...and plan on returning again.. Great for families and kids!!
Having had our first date at The Ginger Man, which has turned into the most wonderful marriage, this pub has a very special place in our hearts. However, the last few times we visited, on our wedding and first date anniversaries, the noise level has been a major distraction, so much so, that we would seriously consider not returning. We love this local venue but not being able to hear each other from across the table is a major turnoff!!! We hope this honest review causes a positive change in the overall ambiance of this special place, we'd hate to say goodbye toThe Ginger Man!!
This is a great meeting point between NYC and my parents' place so I love coming in to meet them here. I've been for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and a few dinners in between. Fall and winter are really lovely if you can sit near the fireplace. The food is pretty straightforward and very good (they make a great cheese board). Service is always friendly, and the craft beer list is consistent.
The food was OK, but I found the service painfully slow for what we ordered (pancakes, a cobb salad and a pulled pork sandwich). It took a good 30 minutes for the food to arrive. My local diner would have served food just as good and in half the time (or less).
It was way too dark. Had to pull out my cell phone to read the menu and check. But besides that, the food was very good. and the desert & beer were excellent. I was about a half hr late but I was still taken care of right away, which was greatly appreciated.. This is a great place to go during Spring and Summer. Will go back and hopefully the lighting will have improved by then.
I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE STAFF AT 'THE GINGER MAN'. THEY WERE PERSONABLE, ATTENTIVE
AND CONCERNED ABOUT OUR EXPERIENCE. I ORDERED THE 'CRABCAKE BENEDICT' WHICH WAS SUPERB, MY DAUGHTER HAD THE 'TOMATO/MOZZARELLA OMELET' AND REST HAD THE 'FRENCH TOAST' WHICH EVERYONE ENJOYED.
Since its in the neighborhood we tend to go often because its a fun place and usually can get a table. Its nice to have a drink at the bar before or after the meal. I've been with groups and just my husband and we are never disappointed. Its a fun easy place.
food and service was excellent. had salad, chicken pannini, some kind of meat sliders, a vegetarian quesidilla and thin crust pizza. they don't give you any kind of bread to start. otherwise all was great. the burgers looked amazing. would definitely try them next time. lots of beers to choose from as well. table available immediately which was a plus since we met someone midway and that's how we chose this restaurant.
Great food, wood burning fireplace in the back was a nice touch. Food was great and come out hot and fresh. Seating was a little close to the bar, couldn't help but be interrupted some times by bar patrons singing and belting out classic tunes at 6pm on a Sunday. Aside from that it was great. Just wish the dining area was a little more removed from the bar.
We had my husband's 50th surprise b-day party there upstairs a few years ago.
They did a terrific job--maybe b/c the owner, Christian, and my husband share the same birthday? haha
Even though he opened another restaurant in Norwalk, and presumably divides his time, he has continued
to impress and keep a very high quality standard in Gingerman-Greenwich.
I had octopus salad and black bean soup; the other 5 had various meat dishes including short ribs, & salmon--
all prepared with fresh vegetables in a warm atmosphere by the fire. Very reasonable price for the high quality
service, ambiance and food. Love it! ~Pinky Markey
oh, note: they charge 18% tip for parties of 6 or more, they said; too bad, we would have given 20%
We had a wonderful romantic dinner on New Year's Eve! The scallops and risotto were to die for, and my boyfriends steak was cooked to perfection. After dinner we rocked the house to greatmusic by The Mars Experiment. It was a memorable evening that we will cherish for a lifetime!
the food took very long to get to the table. the food was cold, the room was freezing and most importantly the food had poor presentation and taste. Huevos rancheros with out sauce, I mean, come on!
The only thing that was representative was the hamburgers. You don't get much for what you pay. I would not go back.
Love this place! The only downside this visit was that the bar was crazy noisy, probably due to holiday crowd. Our party of 4 really lucked out when a cozy corner table became available when the patrons who reserved it sat elsewhere, thus making it available after all. Whew!Next time I'll plan ahead & make a table request. Anyway, enjoyed everything we ordered, & the service was excellent as well.
I had date night with my husband at the restaurant. Note to all if possible really try to sit in the back if want a little quiet or romance especially when the fire is going. The main part of the restaurant can be loud and a little too much family. They also were holding a reception upstairs in a little space was surprised.
