My wife and I went for a relaxed date night. There was excellent service, the food was delicious, and the ambience was charming; well done!
Whether lunch with girlfriends, casual date night or family dining, Ginger Man never disappoints! It is always a must when we are in Greenwich.
Clearly a fixture in Greenwich (I'm from out of state) If you want bar food I guess it's ok.
Walked in and hostess was eating her own lunch (at noon!??) It was like I was inconveniencing her to get up. Had the fish tacos.. Ok anyone who's been to Baja should know better than to order fish tacos in Greenwich but save yourself!
Just felt old and tired..very disappointing
Had a nice dinner with my son with good food and always great service from Susan our waitress. It would of been even better but that night there was a very loud bunch of people singing loudly to the music, using fowl language and just overall obnoxious. I was surprised that the management didn’t say anything to them. It was very obvious that all the customers were well aware of them. Not a usual occurrence for the Gingerman, we will still go back.
Sunday, Feb. 11,2018.
Okay place for lunch on the Avenue. Pup atmosphere, reasonably priced, decent menu. Food was okay, burgers were good. Service was less than satisfactory and it wasn’t even that busy.
Been around for a long team. All of its is very comfortable; food, atmosphere, service. Don't recommend going Saturday night prime time.
we were three and had a wonderful table in the back room, which was quieter, on a Saturday night at 6:45. We all enjoyed the food, service was professional. We'd go back again.
Food and service were very good The problem was the noise. It would be smart and profitable to offer a quiet section, perhaps upstairs, and let the public know it can be chosen
We met family there and got a corner table upstairs with a comfy bench on one side, next to the window. We loved it! The Ginger Man came recommended to us by a friend who lives within walking distance of Greenwich Ave and knows most of the restaurants there. The food was delicious, service was friendly, our water was refreshed often and we weren't rushed at all.
Will definitely go back.
Hadn't been there for a long time. Went one of the recent extremely cold evenings over New Year's weekend. Sorta chose the place by default. Was presently surprised on the good bar, comfort food . Oysters $20 a dozen. Place was busy. Drawback: music very loud. Hard to have a conversation at the table.
I have fonder memories of the Ginger Man on the Upper East Side (Lex Ave in the 70s, I think?) - where I'd regularly run into a young rising TV star named...Matt Lauer - than this restaurant. The food is good, the service is fine, and I will doubtless return when I'm in the neighborhood, but by 7 pm several of the posted specials were already out, along with several beers on tap. Just annoying. The Greenwich restaurant's ambience is warehouse-y, no charm. The hostess was also a little brusque and dismissive. A final, long-standing Ginger Man pet peeve: serving a burger on an English muffin sounds like a thing, but it simply doesn't work if you plan on eating your burger with your hands.
Food was bad and not tasty
Gingerman is our go to spot for lunch or dinner. There fireplace room is cozy and warm. The service is always good with good size meals. The extensive beer selection is excellent. Good casual dining at top of Greenwich Avenue.
Kind of a perfect experience: Sitting near the fireplace in the back room (although the upstairs dining is lovely too) with a menu so tempting we struggled to narrow down our order. We actually started with fried calamari, house-made hummus dish and SUPER spicy guacamole. I'm glad we waited to put in the main order, because I ended up splitting a cod special with my husband and our friends loved their food and had leftovers to take home.
The desserts looked amazing, but we were so stuffed.
It is SO cozy and charming with a very vibrant scene. Service was great. Definitely going back.
Totally annoyed and disappointed. From the hostess, bus boy to the waiter-- we were ignored, kept waiting and treated with total disinterest. When our food was served, only some of the order came. When we asked where the rest was we were told "it's coming". No one came and asked if we needed anything at any time. We finally got up to get a candle for the table because that request was ignored too. At the end the waiter tried to hand us dessert menus. We said no and got the check. We will never go back again. Not worth the trouble at all.
Amazing great food
I love this place.
Very good service and food as usual. Nice selection and tasteful Christmas decorations at this time of year. Definitely recommended.
Not happy that there isn’t breakfast/brunch option on Sat.
Fantastic brunch. Nice staff. Will absolutely recommend to friends and family in the future.
The evening started out a bit roughly with the hostess trying to seat the three of us in a Very noisy area near the bar downstairs. When i pointed out that we had made a reservation, she replied "people have reservations." When I replied that we did as well and had specifically asked for a quiet table so we could talk, the hostess reluctantly led us upstairs to a table near a wailing toddler ( I understand but we did ask for a quiet table). That said, the food and beer were very good albeit pricey. So be aware that you need to ask for a table upstairs unless you are there for the bar scene. ( and to be assertive) Do not recommend. Not customer friendly although the waitress was fine.
The absolute most horrific hostess and service ever. I have never before been asked to please clear the table the moment I finished eating so that they could turn the table.
Good, reliable food and very good service every time!
The kitchen tries to be creative and credit has to be great be given for the intention even though the outcome isn't as probably intended. The seafood risotto was tasteless; so was the lamb burger. The lobster chowder was tasty and so was the generously portioned Caesar salad.
Good beer list.
ALWAYS GOOD, BUT THIS WAS EXCEPTIONAL
i go to Ginger Man from time to time as the noise level is ok, and the food & service are reliably good. usually they have good beers too.
this time i couldn't quite find the right beer - the descriptions are ridiculous !
but everything else was exceptional. i had the blackened fish tacos which were AMAZING.
and our server, whose name i think was Diego, was just FANTASTIC. he patiently brought me several beers to taste before i decided on one. and he was very pleasant, very quick and generally great !
i'll be back soon, i'm sure.
have eaten there often, the Biggest challenge is the parking. Once you get passed that it is all good. Like their brunch (upstairs seating) lunches and beers are great.
Excellent food as always. Incredibly noisy though. Had to yell at each other across the table.
We love finding new restaurants and the Ginger Man was a great find! The ambiance is comfortable and cozy. The food is fresh and delicious and the service is excellent. Highly recommend!
A local favorite! Very good food, good service. Menu options for everyone.
Always a good choice for Sunday brunch with family!!
We have eaten at Ginger Man several times, and each time was uniformly great. We enjoy the food, atmosphere, drinks, and service. This time we sat upstairs, where there is a more formal feel and a nice view of Greenwich Avenue. It was a Father's Day treat and Ginger Man is now my go-to brunch place.
Great beer, good food, good size portions, I have dined there several times and enjoyed the meal every time
I always liked this place and really miss the one in South Norwalk. But this works great when I'm in greenwich. Has a busy afterwork bar scene which can get noisy but it not bad. Dining area is separate and that works well for a quieter early dinner.
The food is good but takes a long time to come out. The service is not great and the staff is very inattentive.
A good spot for lunch or dinner at the top of Greenwich Avenue. Attentive service, solid pub menue with good choices for dinner. Excellent draft beer, wine and drinks offerings. Overall, a very good choice for a nice casual, fun evening.
Ginger Man is a good local pub with good bar food, burgers, steaks, fish and salads.
Convenient, reliable and reasonably priced. Nice wine selections.
I realize it was Mother's Day and the restaurant was busy, but my first disappointment was our table. It was just inches from a busy doorway/clearing station and one of our guests had a direct view of the dirty dish bin. I was hoping for a nicer table, since I had made the reservation well in advance. The food was honestly just fair...the guac was too spicy, feta cheese was in one large clump inside the omelette, key lime tart did not remotely resemble key lime, and one of our guests pulled out a hard pebble, or chip of something, from his cheesecake. Needless to say, he didn't eat another bite of it after that. I showed the server the hard object and asked him to inform the chef or manager, but no one came over to address the matter before we had to leave.
Overall, a somewhat disappointing brunch. And btw, we were charged for the cheesecake.
Good spot on Greenwich Avenue away from all the restaurant action at the bottom of the Avenue. Quality pub like food served in a nice atmosphere with good draft beer selection and craft cocktails. The draft beers change with the season. Overall, good value and a nice spot for a casual lunch or dinner.
Nice pub-style food - great service. Good for groups!
