It's always a very good experience dining at Gilbert Scott. Excellent dishes cooked to high quality combined with impeccable service. I specially recomme d the lamb and duck mains. I take my friends here when I want to get pampered with a nice meal in a lovely setting.

Lovely to go to GS as usual. As it was Sunday we opted for the Sunday Roast. It was surprising to see ‘Whole Plaice’ as an option, so ordered that in anticipation.
Starters were marvellous (cured salmon x1 and grilled mackerel x1 - both delicious!)
The plaice arrived, on the nine and was served with the usual Roast lunch trimmings: roasted potatoes, yorkshires, roast carrots and broccoli (interestingly dressed with pesto -yum). The trimmings were really good and the fish was moist and lovely but as a lunch combo was a bit challenging to eat as there was no sauce or gravy to moisten the carbs.
We shared the apple crumble dessert, mainly because my cheese loving companion wasn’t excited by the offerings on the cheese plate, nonetheless it was really delicious.
We’ve been to GS on a few occasions before and will happily continue to return

The vegetable that came with all the dishes were bitterly salty! They replaced with some very tough cabbage which was like chewing straws. Slow service even the place was not full and it was difficult to get a waiter or waitress's attention after the main course was served. I have been to this place several time due to being close to King Cross to meet up for meeting. This was the worse experience.

Great food, attentive service . We had the 3 course menu. Good selection and very good value, with a glass of bubbles included. We’ll be back to dine from the a la cadre menu as there were so many interesting dishes to try.,

There was such a lovely ambiance with the stately architecture and high ceilings- beautifully ornate. The food had good flavour but definitely quite calorie dense. The manager was on hand to make sure we were having a good experience and to chat which was nice.

The Gilbert Scott is one of my favourite places. The building is beautiful, the staff attentive & professional & the food is excellent. We used an Open Table offer & had a free glass of a really exceptional Prosecco to start, plus 3 courses of really divine food. As it wasn’t birthday, they also brought a wonderful cake with candle. We had a lovely time. As we arrived early we also enjoyed cocktails in “George’s Bar”—fantastic drinks in a magical room. All highly recommended!

I thought the setting was outstanding. Don't miss sitting in the bar for a drink first or walking past the grand staircase for a taste of 1930's style. Dinners were very good and not over priced. Wine list with some gems. We had a not so great experience on the service side which by my observation of the dining room was not characteristic of what I saw going on at other tables. Unfortunately this emphasised how uninterested and unfriendly our waitress was. It was like a little bit of France nestled in the middle of a restaurant in London.

Went to celebrate an engagement with family and the staff were great. They were more than happy to accommodate a vegan guest for the set meal, and gave us a celebration plate for the engagement.

Arrived for a business lunch on limited time. The waiter was very rude and dismissive of our reasonable questions about which menu items would arrive the fastest. This poor accommodation of our time restriction was all the more surprising given the restaurant is attached to a train station!

I will not be returning.

I had a requested a quiet table with my booking. But we were shown to a table in the centre of the restaurant. Having said that it was not too noisy overall.
I was disappointed to find that the only way to get a Sunday roast was to have a three course deal and even then no standard dishes were offered.
At both courses the servers had no idea who had ordered what and as a result two of us actually consumed each other's meals! They were nice though!!
At that price I expect better.

Really nice location and ambience. Small group meal with friends.
Good value 3 courses, small glass of sparkling for £30 but be aware that approx half the courses have a supplement, there are no sides or bread included so looking at minimum £40 per head for full meal and obviously not of same complexity as a la carté.
Set menu not for a special night out but good for a gathering. Will likely return for a la carté for a special night.

We had a really lovely dinner. Service was great and very kind friendly professional staff. Food was excellent. We mixed and matched from set menu and a la carte which made it a bit more affordable. Beautiful dining room and good atmosphere. We will return.

The setting is incredible - beautiful period dining hall. Food is immaculately presented and just as tasty. The servers were very attentive, but we waited 45 minutes before and between courses. A meal that should’ve taken an hour took over two.

Busy sitting so we were left alone for quite a long time and weren't immediately offered the set menu so service was not as good as usual. Food very tasty. Beautiful dining room and excellent cocktails.

Lovely decor - high ceilinged room reminiscent of a period drama; service was thoughtful and attentive; I wanted a glass of champagne and since I didn’t recognise the brands on the menu the sommelier was very helpful and I had a lovely glass of pink. The food was very tasty, as you would expect. Highlights included pink and succulent venison saddle as a main, arancini as a starter and an indulgent chocolate nougat as a desert. It’s a Marcus Wareing restaurant, so not cheap. I recommend for special occasions.

The stunning architecture of The Gilbert Scott makes a great environment for another stunning meal.
The 3 course set menu is great value with a glass of fizz, still of high quality.
Service great and would visit again but not order the GF bread at £4 that wasn’t impressive but didn’t spoil the overall fab experience for my party.
Liked the option to pre authorise my card to stop my friend’s paying!
Will visit again.

Great and elegant dining experience for our last night in London. Enjoyed the side booth table. The Sommelier came over to help us choose a wine and it was a perfect choice for our meals. The service was superb and appreciated the Manager taking the time to come over and welcome us to the restaurant. There were so many restaurants to choose from but so happy we chose the Gilbert Scott. We would definitely come back here to eat and have already shared with our family and friends.

Booked set menu but not enough choice so ate a la carte. Great crab and avocado starter, small but nice. Chicken for main cooked perfectly and loved the triple cooked chips. Pudding of chocolate nougat was heaven it was my partner’s birthday so he got a dessert with a candle in it, a lovely touch. Not cheap, but good for a treat

I had looked at a few places to try for lunch and thought this sounded really good . when we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly the sommelier I think guessed we didn't know a lot about wine and didn't make us feel uncomfortable but was encouraging with our choice , and the room we dined in was bright an airy and the food was really tasty so overall we really enjoyed it and were pleased with our choice .
