The setting is incredible - beautiful period dining hall. Food is immaculately presented and just as tasty. The servers were very attentive, but we waited 45 minutes before and between courses. A meal that should’ve taken an hour took over two.
Good food and a great room. Not cheap but we enjoy going
Very good food even on the set menu, which was very good value for money. Wines a touch expensive but very good selection available.
Busy sitting so we were left alone for quite a long time and weren't immediately offered the set menu so service was not as good as usual. Food very tasty. Beautiful dining room and excellent cocktails.
This was the highlight of a 3 week tour.....relaxed, excellent food, great service and a memorable night! Thank you!
I love this place. The menu and food are perfect and service correct. I eat here when ever in London.
C'était notre deuxième visite pour fêter un anniversaire. On garde un bon souvenir.
Lovely decor - high ceilinged room reminiscent of a period drama; service was thoughtful and attentive; I wanted a glass of champagne and since I didn’t recognise the brands on the menu the sommelier was very helpful and I had a lovely glass of pink. The food was very tasty, as you would expect. Highlights included pink and succulent venison saddle as a main, arancini as a starter and an indulgent chocolate nougat as a desert. It’s a Marcus Wareing restaurant, so not cheap. I recommend for special occasions.
The stunning architecture of The Gilbert Scott makes a great environment for another stunning meal.
The 3 course set menu is great value with a glass of fizz, still of high quality.
Service great and would visit again but not order the GF bread at £4 that wasn’t impressive but didn’t spoil the overall fab experience for my party.
Liked the option to pre authorise my card to stop my friend’s paying!
Will visit again.
Nice place for a special lunch.. food good and set menu good value
Excellent early evening set menu in a wonderful 'Hotel Budapest' type dining room. Great value .
Great and elegant dining experience for our last night in London. Enjoyed the side booth table. The Sommelier came over to help us choose a wine and it was a perfect choice for our meals. The service was superb and appreciated the Manager taking the time to come over and welcome us to the restaurant. There were so many restaurants to choose from but so happy we chose the Gilbert Scott. We would definitely come back here to eat and have already shared with our family and friends.
Booked set menu but not enough choice so ate a la carte. Great crab and avocado starter, small but nice. Chicken for main cooked perfectly and loved the triple cooked chips. Pudding of chocolate nougat was heaven it was my partner’s birthday so he got a dessert with a candle in it, a lovely touch. Not cheap, but good for a treat
I had looked at a few places to try for lunch and thought this sounded really good . when we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly the sommelier I think guessed we didn't know a lot about wine and didn't make us feel uncomfortable but was encouraging with our choice , and the room we dined in was bright an airy and the food was really tasty so overall we really enjoyed it and were pleased with our choice .
Fabulous meal in a beautiful setting, with a lovely menu and wine list!
Very good dinner. Room is beautiful. Food was delicious but rather small portions.
Beautiful ballroom setting, service both friendly and efficient, food was delicious!
Stunning surroundings, outstanding service and fabulous food. A very special place indeed.
Fab food and wonderful service. Would recommend for a special occasion. Go on a meal deal if possible.
The staff were excellent. We enjoyed the food but thought the portions were small. The offer didn't seem so good once you had to pay for the "extras".
Very pleasant experience over all, service was great, very attentive, food was good as always, great for the value!
We had a really lovely evening at the Gilbert Scott. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was perfect - not too busy and not too empty. The set menu is great value as well. We have been many times before and will be back again!
Had the set dinner menu although we had to ask for it as we were only presented with the a la Carte when seated. Food was very good standard, perhaps the fish slightly over seasoned being hyper-critical. Our second visit here; both times had good meals but not necessarily anything special.
My guests and I were treated to a sumptuous dinner, the fine food accompanied by attentive service in splendid surroundings.
The Gilbert Scott is pretty much my favourite restaurant. Excellent food, friendly and considerate service, and a beautiful setting.
Fantastic three course meal offer-children with us and all the staff made us feel very welcome. Really fantastic value
Lovely venue and food!
Great value set menu and lovely setting
Great food and service. We all had a lovely lunch. Thank you.
An excellent lunch menu. We had the standard lunch menu which had a nicely balanced choice. Service was first class. Will definitely be back
The offer was good value
Great food and cocktails! Didn’t feel rushed, service was impeccable! Would definitely go again!
Not my first visit, but always a pleasure.
The food was delicious and very well presented.
The serving staff were courteous and knowledgeable.
The overall ambiance seems a bit outdated, but comfortable nevertheless.
All in all, a great dining experience.
The meal was OK, but the experience did not live up to our expectations. The food was nice, but nothing special. The service was slow and a little unprofessional at times.
We returned to the GS in June after a great meal there in November last year. We went for the set menu and accessorised with a bottle of wine and a couple of cocktails. Most of the interesting courses had a 5 pound supplement which was ok as it lends a bit more choice to the set menu which would have otherwise been very limited. For those diners into sustainability there is no evidence this has been considered which I am always suspicious of, particularly when it comes to ingredients like farmed salmon. The food was not as good as we had back in November- it lacked a bit of seasoning (I like salt I’m afraid) and the portions were on the mean side. However staff are helpful, cocktails are good and the building is stunning.
Best banana soft serve once cream with honeycomb in London
Francesco the sommelier made my day! He had my favourite wine ready to pour. The food was divine
a very pleasant setting, helpful staff, very good food
I love this place - the decor is lovely, the service is always excellent, and the food is always delicious. I have been several times, and always enjoyed myself. The Sunday lunch is particularly good.
Lovely dining room. Guy on reception was pleasant and sommelier also. Female and male (bald) waiters were sullenly.
My partners food was good - he had white asparagus and then plaice (although menu said ‘whole’ plaice it was actually half a plaice). My scallops were ‘ok’ but underseasoned. My main was halibut with broccoli. Fish was flaccid and broccoli was cold
Nobody came during mains to ask if food ok and they knocked just broccoli off the bill
Both puds were lovely
We had one cocktail each, three course and one bottle of wine. Bill £273. Not good value at all.
