    We had been recommended the Garrison by friends for our family Sunday lunch. We had all decided we would like the roast beef before we arrived, and two of us wanted cocktails as we don't drink wine. As I have food intolerances I had noted the day before on the menu the 'special' cocktails would not suit me but it said they offered 'traditional' cocktails as well and to ask, so was a bit disappointed when told they were only offering those on the menu. The roast beef was very chewy and fatty, although the potatoes and Yorkshire were good. I can't comment on the veg as having mentioned the day before I can't have honey, onion or garlic thinking they might boil up some plain carrots/parsnips, I was told this was not possible so had to go without. I also had to have a dry dinner as the gravy contained onion and garlic and they did not offer me an alternative. The atmosphere was lively and relaxed and the service was good, although we did feel very rushed and when we decided not to have a desert the bill arrived straight away! Overall, the food was acceptable but nothing special and I was very disappointed about being asked about intolerances the day before and then being offered no alternatives. Personally we will not go again.

    Really great Sunday night at the Garrison, atmosphere still excellent (when so many places are closed on a Sunday), looked after us really well. Pleased to have the garrison nearby!!!

    Thoroughly enjoyed a Sunday roast here. Portion was PERFECTION, the balance of meat and veg also on point. Had a lovely booth to ourselves, couldn’t recommend this place more

    Three of us booked in for Sunday lunch and can highly recommend it. We had beef, chicken and nut roast. The latter was the most delicious I’ve ever eaten. Positive reports from my meat eating mates. Veggies were beautifully al dente and full of flavour. Crispy roasts and a huge Yorkshire pud, all coated in a yummy gravy (which you could also have on the side). We had the picpoul wine, nice and cold, and a mate had unfiltered lager. Also grand. The service was friendly and attentive. We were in a booth, which is always a treat. Highly recommended.

    Had a veggie roast and really enjoyed but the nut roast was full of mushrooms which I didn’t like. The star of the show was the brie and truffle cauliflower cheese! Absolutely stunning.

    I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday Lunch, with a friend. It was delicious - though the vegetables could have been warmer. Extra gravy was provided in an instant by the rather ‘touchy feely’ waitress. We had difficulty understanding what she was saying - partially because of the noisy group sat nearby. We both enjoyed it but I was somewhat surprised at the final bill of £92. I don’t dine out as much as I once did and this was/is part of the reason why. One pint of lager and one soft drink and, I think, tap water. The room was lovely and bright, with plenty of breeze on a very warm day, the doors and windows wide open. It has to be a special occasion to dine out, these days. Nevertheless, I recommend The Garrison for a good Sunday lunch. With plenty of Gravy!

    We had a fantastic evening. Our little 2 person booth was lovely, our waiter Felipe was very attentive without being too much and the food and wine were excellent. A thoroughly lovely evening. We went for the fish as I know that’s what Natalie Coleman is well known for and which we were very pleased we chose. We will definitely return.

    I visited The Garrison a little while ago and do not remember it being so cosy and quirky inside! The food was absolutely incredible and the wine was yum scrum. Thanks again! Will be back for sure!

    We went for a Sunday Roast, where the Yorkshire Pudding came seeming stale, whilst the beef was overdone, and therefore very chewy. Our waitress was all over the place, which made us feel as though the front of house were poorly managed.

    The menu caught our eye as we walked pass. Something different from the “usual” gastro pub fare. The interior is very welcoming with mix of tables, high tables, booths etc. and eccentric choice of lights etc. Great choice of G&T pairings and wines. Service was attentive but not overbearing and very friendly. As well as the published menus there are fresh fish options - had the plaice and very nice it was.
