   The sourdough bread, salads, salmon, and shrimp and scallops entrees were all wonderful. We had a great bottle of wine and watched the sun set over the lake in gorgeous weather. The wait staff was very kind! The only hiccup was that we waited several minutes to be greeted/seated, as the hostess was out in the deck and then in the kitchen. Our first time dining here, and we will definitely come back.

   Food was way overpriced for the quality of what you got. $29 for a simple and very dry pasta dish with veggies and flavored with lots of lemon juice. $5 to add shrimp helped me eat the dish. My husband ordered the mountain chicken which was a little dry. About $30 for chicken, whipped potatoes, carrots and asparagus. $10 cheesecake had crust with rubber texture. The crust could be peeled off. Favorite item was chocolate lava cake but I can’t justify coming again just to order a lava cake.

   We love the Gardens Restaurant! Feels like going back in time. The gorgeous, rough-hewn beams, large fireplace, and beautiful white tablecloth setting make for a wonderful dining experience. If the weather is nice, the wraparound porch, with great view of the golf course and ponds, is amazing! The steaks and seafood dishes are very nice and the wine selection good! Enjoy!

   Wife and I enjoyed a late dinner at the restaurant. She was attending a conference at Callaway that ended that day at 8pm. We arrived at 8:30 and were only customers in restaurant. Excellent service, excellent food (scallops and shrimp), beautiful interior, and beautiful views of lake made it a wonderful night.

   I'm not sure how this place stays open, or how they keep food in house! There were 4 patrons there when we arrived at 6pm, and only 2 when we left. There was a hostess, and a (slightly odd) server, and we assume there was a chef, or maybe those 2 did the cooking as well? The main course tasted great, but was way overpriced. We could tell the dessert had been warmed in a microwave and the ice cream tasted old. We had the place to ourselves, so it was lovely, but it was just kind of odd that it was deserted. Hopefully just a slow weekend. I enjoyed the old decor. I hope they are able to pick up business.

   Making a reservation was very difficult .Supposedly no availability but very few tables occupied on arrival or departure.

   Although the service was impeccable, the sea bass dish was well below my expectations from a "fine dining" establishment. Skip the $11 fried tomato appetizer-awful batter. The center of the fish was undercooked, the seasoning on the vegetables did not suit my taste. Party members who had steak said that it was very good as were the vegetables. Great ambiance and views of the lake. Desserts were excellent. Had the prices been $10 less per entree, my rating might be 4 stars.
