Went for an impromptu breakfast with my husband after staying the night in NYC. Service was great , atmosphere was serene, food was excellent. I had the poached eggs on avocado toast , it was amazing. The flavors, the country bread, perfectly poached eggs elevated a basic dish to a real treat. I rated value 4 stars because the food is very expensive, this being a Four Seasons Hotel restaurant. We spent as much for breakfast as we would have spent for dinner ! (And my husband only had oatmeal with fruit and some toast .) However, if you’re looking for an elegant NYC breakfast, this is the place.
I had the impression that this restaurant was an rooftop restaurant with outdoor seating. It was a make believe outdoor restaurant with tall trees and etc. The waitress was very accommodating to find us a table that looked the most like outdoors. The service was very attentive, but I'm so disappointed with the Tuna dish I had. It was so salty soaked with soy sauce! I couldn't swallow anymore half way. I drunk a whole bottle of water to help. For almost $50 a dish, this was not up to the standard.
Located in the lobby atrium of the Four Seasons. Description includes "nestled in a dramatic grove of African Acacia trees" except the trees are fake. Waiter was kind, but drinks were slow, food was room temperature only, and the bread came 10 minutes after our entree. Overall, not impressed, and certainly not for the price ($36 for french toast? $26 for a bloody mary?) With so many delightful places to eat in the City, don't bother with this one.
As always, the ambience and service were first rate. We ordered the soft shell crab which was delicious, however the amount of crab was inadequate and was buried underneath lots of salad greens. This was a Sunday brunch used by me for a business meeting. The restaurant is conducive to quiet business discussions.
The Garden has excellent food in an extremely pleasant space inside the Four Seasons Hotel. The service is attentive and gracious, the tables are well spaced so it is an excellent environment if you actually want to speak to your meal companions. Given its location, it is not surprising that it is expensive. It inherits a certain dignified aspect for the same reason, but given that feature, it is surprisingly comfortable and relaxed in its graciousness. So if you don't mind eating in hotels (which is not to everyone's taste), I think the Garden is an excellent spot in all ways.
Great staff. But the food was wayyy to expensive for what they were serving. Not to mention it was nothing special nor extra ordinarily good. It was perhaps the most expensive easter brunch we have ever been too and we consider ourselves foodies and have gone to high end restaurants that can justify the cost with the food served.
I would suggest everyone really look over their bill. I was charged for coffee that we did not have. When it was discovered I looked for your waiter who was never to be seen. I just paid it and left. Left irritated! It was a business breakfast and I as not going to make a fuss. But I AM NOT HAPPY! P. Michael Nordberg
