The Gambling Cowboy Chophouse and Saloon Ratings and Reviews
Had our 10th wedding anniversary here, and were not disappointed. We rarely have dinner in old town Temecula, and had no idea this great place was so close to home. We both ordered the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. It was loud when we went, but could still easily hear each other at a conversational tone. If I could afford to eat there frequently, I would.
This is always our first choice for dinner with friends and clients. Service is always first rate. Up until this recent visit, I have always been pleased with the food (never had a bad meal and we are frequent diners). However, this time, my ribeye was tough and so fatty there was barely any meat. The gigantic loaded baked potato, which is my absolute favorite, was not cooked on the inside at all for 3 out of 4 guests. The chicken dish for one guest was horrible and salty. Very disappointed. I will return and give another try. I hope things improve because I really love this place.
The restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel in Temecula as being a great place to go for good food. We were not disappointed. I had the 12 oz. prime rib and my wife had the 12 oz rib eye, which came sliced with a wonderful burgundy sauce on top. Both were tender and cooked to perfection. We left with a box each since there was so much food and enjoyed the rest of the meat the following afternoon with a nice glass of wine. We will return on our next trip to Temecula.
Never have had any meals in Temecula and what a cute place for our brunch before meeting friends for wine tasting. Great food and great service! My spouse had breakfast of eggs, bacon and pancakes. I had the filet mignon tacos. Everything was delicious! If we're ever in Temecula again, we'll return for a fantastic meal.
I requested a balcony table when I made the reservation in advance. The table was on the end next to the door which I wasn't pleased about. People constantly going in and out and there was no view from that particular table. Service was good and timely but very robotic and impersonal. Bruschetta was amazing, Brussels sprouts amazing, salmon was just ok. Dress is very casual.
Went for sunday brunch, and Food was great. The service was terrible. Server didn't check on us after ordering. Had to go and find someone else to fill our waters and coffees. Disappointing service especially since I have had dinner there and that was a great experience.
We've eaten at the Cowboy for dinner several times and it's always great but this morning was the first time we had breakfast. It too was delicious and reasonably priced. The patio overlooking old town was the perfect place to be this morning.
Our experience was incredibly average. They couldn't make a rare steak and while eager to please and happy to remake it, the 2nd one was still only "almost rare" but so chewy we left half of it. They couldn't make a hamburger steak either. They did take the steak off the bill but we left disappointed. This had been a go to place when visiting Temecula for several years but it's off the rotation now.
Very generous portions with food that is excellent! The prices are a little high but we had an excellent meal. The bread pudding is some of the best we've ever had and was enough for 4 to share. Recommend making a reservation if you want to be seated quickly.
We arrived and were greeted by friendly staff. Upon being seated we were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion - yes, our anniversary. The hostess seemed taken aback as we were two women, and she smiled and walked away and nothing more was said. Our waitress barely spent any time with us during our whole time there - while chatting and laughing with 3 other tables nearby, and walked away on several occasions, not hearing any of our requests, having to be called back several times. We did get our food in a timely manner, but two of the four of our steaks were overdone. The waitress asked if we wanted dessert and walked away saying "No? okay" when no answer had been given -yes we wanted dessert. She walked off as someone was trying to ask for espresso with dessert, and had to be called back. No espresso available, but coffee - which was ordered. And then forgotten when dessert was brought. She walked off with our payment without seeing the two payment cards and had to be called back - TWICE - to coordinate payment. She did apologize saying "I can't hear you from up here." Up here? Standing?
It is probable we will never go back.
We go year every year for our anniversary. They have a great selection of food and outstanding appetizers. They are first and foremost a steak house and that is what they do extraordinarily well. Steaks are always flavorful and cooked perfectly. I have never been disappointed in a visit to the gambling cowboy!
This was our third or fourth visit for a business dinner. The server was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the colleague who usually insists we eat here couldn't get his steak cooked to order. Also on this particular visit, requesting additional veggies in lieu of potatoes translated to a LOT of corn. It just wasn't a good night for the kitchen.
