Jumbo Shrimp Scampi (4)
Shrimp sautéed in a garlic butter sauce
Blackened salmon served on a bed of romaine lettuce and topped with grilled vegetables in a home-made balsamic vinaigrette
Service was fantastic, ambience was stellar (as always) and the food was delicious!!!
Bland food. Poor service and just a weird vibe. Plus the bar tender made it a point to tell everyone she is not and will not be getting vaccinated. Will not be back!
Good food. Funky atmosphere. Great service.
It was awesome
Steak seemed better than ever, and the salad was as amazing as ever. Only negative was the price. Just way too expensive for what it is.
The food didn’t have much flavor. We have been frequenting this place forever but the food wasn’t so great this last time. The management was great and the server wasn’t so attentive.
Usually love the galley! However this time around not so much! Steak was on not great door $50! The service was awful rude waitress! Took check never brought back change! Not a good experience ! Won’t go back
Had 2 servers, one was pleasant, the other curt and rushed. Food overcooked including garlic bread. Salad just average. Halibut ok.
Amazing seafood and awesome waiters,
Loved the nautical tiki-ish decor.
The Galley never disappoints.
We had the NICEST server (Erin?), ever. We’d go back just for her. Such a delight.
Good steak , opentable menu is much different than the restaurants version.
Captain Ron’s ship has sailed, and it sank. Galley- RIP. Galley was a staple in my repertoire for 20 years. I stopped going a few years ago but thought I’d give it try for some comfort food. Horrible. And soooo depressing. Food is bad (although I’ve never been to one, I imagine this is what Applebee’s is like) Frozen food warmed up into a soggy mess. Servers seem depressed and uninterested… like the band playing as the ship goes down. Very unhappy people throwing off a miserable vibe. Everybody on Main Street invested in their outdoor dining experience; but not the Captain. Old tables and chairs on the street. Sad.
And, to top it all off, Ron added a $2.50 “credit card fee” to the bill. Really? That smells of desperation.
Galley was the “oldest restaurant” in Santa Monica. It was funky and cool (sat next to Liz Taylor years ago); but everything comes to end. It’s over Ron. Pull the plug and let her sink in peace.
The ultimate Santa Monica throwback replete with year round Christmas lights and kitschy ship adornments. Food is good, not amazing, drinks are fantastic but the vibe is relaxed, fun and lively. Go for the ambience and unpolished charm, not for fine dining. It’s a classic.
We love the Galley! Always a fun vibe and crowd. Great martinis and the burger and chicken parm always deliver. Fun for date night or a small group!
My wife and I have dined here for years. The Galley is our favorite restaurant in Santa Monica! The atmosphere is wonderful. I love the Australian Lamb Chops but the ribeye is great too. A bucket of steamers is good for a starter or try the the calamari. Both are delicious. And don't forget the house salad with Captain Ron's secret salad dressing. So good. I would recommend The Gallery to everyone.
It was a great meal. Fresh and beautifully cooked.
The food was delicious! The only odd thing was gratuity was included in the bill so it was a good thing the waitress was awesome! I know some people might not like this. The inside was so awesome though! I love the decor!
Everything was great
The service and ambiance were great - I loved the back patio and all the string lights used throughout the interior and exterior. The wait staff was all very friendly and attentive. The drinks were reasonably priced and the food was tasty as well.
Surf and turf was top notch! Went with my family and had an amazing meal
We have been going to the Galley for decades. We were excited to get back and enjoy the food and ambiance. Unfortunately the clams were the only hot item. The NY steak peppercorn sauce was congealed and cold, creamed spinach the same. Diablo seafood pasta once filled with shellfish was mostly pasta. We won't be going back soon.
Great drinks and good food. All three of us cleaned our plate
Great steaks and burgers at authentic, historic local hangout. We love it!
Awesome steaks and garlic mashed potato’s are amazing! Great place to eat!!
Covid nightmare. People were sitting two feet from each other and some servers were wearing masks under their nose. The Galley is more about ambiance than food but this time the food was particularly horrible. The steak couldn’t even be cut with a steak knife. The waiter ignored all our requests such as light dressing on the salad and meat rareness. The service was horrible. On top of all of this they raised their prices significantly. After 50 years of being a loyal customer will not go back
The restaurant is fun and I love the atmosphere. The food is always good.
This restaurant has a great vibe and yummy food! Love it!
Our first freshly-vaxed indoor dining experience at one of my all-time favorite restaurants. We had a great time and the food was great. There’s no restaurant interior more cheerful than The Galley.
Great place enjoyed our dinner there highly recommend
The steamers were better than any I've had on the East Coast, and our waitress was lovely.
Kitschy old LA vibe with yummy food and great service. Loved it.
We made our reservation for 4/3 to celebrate a birthday as we flew in from Texas. We were so excited to visit the oldest restaurant there in Santa Monica. The food we did receive was excellent, however the service was absolutely HORRIBLE. Our waitress failed to be adequately acquainted with the menu and did not know the smallest details such as if French fries came with the burger. She initially stated they did to only later come back and indicate they were separate (no big deal as we simply wanted to ensure they would come with the order). Once the food began coming out our table was missing quite a few items. In total we were missing a side salad, Brussels sprouts, and two orders of French fries. In addition to this our waitress NEVER came to ask if our drinks could be refilled, how our food tasted, or even how we were doing. I was so incredibly disappointed as I had such high expectations for this establishment. I alerted my waitress of the items missing as I found her standing near the bar speaking with another waitress, she ran off to the kitchen and it was the other waitress who turned and apologized. Later the owner came by and offered us a brownie which we declined since we brought our own cake to which he SO GENEROUSLY said the plating fee would not be charged nor would the cost for the items THEY FAILED TO PROVIDE lol. Would I go back, not if my life depended on it. Was the food good? Heck yes! Super sad...moral of the story, come on The Galley, do better.
The service was great. The food was yummy. The garlic bread costing $9.00 is ABSURD! It's more expensive than a side dish. The wine was perfect. The back patio is so nice and comfortable.
Always good food and great service. A happening lively atmosphere
Too crowded, too close. We were next to a table with 8 young people celebrating a birthday party. I felt crammed in next to them and they were very loud. My Halibut tasted soggy...everything was a bit disappointing. I have enjoyed it in the past but I won't be running back there.
