Steamed East Coast Clams
(2lbs) with clam broth and drawn butter
As always, excellent. The new menu items were great and so glad we could still have our ribeye too
Great time and the service was great
Not bad, but not great. Just mediocre food and service, although the back patio is a nice setting.
Nice hostess, great service, amazing food. It is no wonder that the Galley is one of the best places to dine in Los Angeles
They have a new chef who is really good! Had filet mignon which was the best I've ever had there. Steamed clams still amazing! Love this place so much !!
This was my first time at the Galley during the pandemic, so I wanted to review. First, I would only recommend eating here if you are seated on the back patio, as it is warmer. The sidewalk seating is not that great and very cold. Second, this place is a dive and the people who work there act like it is. I was greeted by the food server not with "Hello" but instead with "you have not been waiting that long before I got to you." The food is was not that good, and it took the food server lengthy periods of time to get me cocktail sauce and extra marinara sauce, as the angel hair had almost no sauce on it when it was served and I had asked for cocktail sauce when I placed my order. Only thing they did right was make a good martini. Finally, it took them almost 25 minutes to run my credit card because the strip was not working and the food server refused to manually enter the number. Instead she came back to the table and said she did not have time to enter the number because "I have tables" implying she was too busy to be inconvenienced. The food server offered to waive her tip, but I insisted on tipping her.
Their menu has been changed to a more limited menu.
Always a favorite to go to!!
first place to go since lock down over....
food always great even with a limited menu!
The place was closed!!!!
Hands down my favorite restaurant in the city!! Love the people, the vibe, the food, the drinks, and the clientelle. Lots of regulars which is always fun. It's all just so perfect! Steamed clams are epic, also love the filet mignon , and the fried shrimp.
Made a reservation from 6:00pm-7:30 pm were asked to move outside and was told the restaurant closed at 7 however after feeling being racially profiled we left and returned around 7 and the restaurant was still open with a ton of seats available!
There are a few tables outdoor in the patio.
We felt very comfortable dining here.
The service was good.
Our food arrive hot and was delicious.
We ordered the steak for two with two sides.
There was so much food that we took home much of it.
I think anyone would feel right at home here.
This establishment has been a fixture in Santa Monica for
decades--and there is a reason for that.
Comfortable , safe , and good food
This was so good and the the out dining was amazing we sat on the back patio and and it was really well lit and nice ambiance. Definitely coming back again!
A very pleasant dinner. Good cocktails. Burger, salmon salad, and shrimp scampi were all good. Friendly service and fair prices. We'll go again soon.
Very good quality food served in a nice outside patio.
Always great food and service! Best Filet Mignonette and lush baked potato! Ambiance romantic and retro . Servers don’t interrupt conversation.
Everyone in our party of six loved the food! The famous salad dressing lived up to its hype, one woman said the chili was the best she'd ever tasted and my scampi over pasta was divine. The back patio had nice ambiance and we were sheltered from the breeze and away from the sound of the street traffic. Our server, Kimberly, was fantastic!
love the food always consistent
Erin a great waitress... always so helpful and so pleasant
We went there to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday. We made reservations and we’re seated as scheduled in the back patio. The food was solid and delicious. I had the Diablo pasta, Medium spicy. The seafood was fresh and cooked just right. My husband had the calamari steak and enjoyed it. My daughter had the wild caught salmon and enjoyed it also. I highly recommend the galley salad dressing. It was amazing on our salads. My only disappointment was that I made a special request for birthday offerings and let them know it was a birthday dinner through open table. Either the restaurant never saw the request or ignored it. The wait staff or hostess didn’t even provide anything to highlight the birthday during the dinner. Next time I’ll have to call in person to request this.
Sat outside on the street surrounded by concrete barriers nicely covered up by tall fencing but still, the traffic (buses) was annoying. The 3 of us had 3 different dishes and all were good however service was very slow. As an example,we finished and the table was cleared but we didn't see our server for 10-15 minutes. We told her we needed our check. Apparently, everyone else did because when she returned 5-10 minutes later she had 5 or 6 bills in her hand. They need some help.
I used Open Table and requested the Patio (in the back.. When I arrived the waitress pushed us to a small table in the outdoor area out front, near sidewalk. I asked to be moved to a bigger table in the corner, but she said No. Now mind you I had a very early reservation at 5:30. ( the first people there). Soon afterwards a another couple was given the bigger corner spot. I have eaten at the Galley many times and found the waitress and hostess actions very rude. The waitress was named Sarah (short blond) and I do not know the hostess's name.
The food quality was better than expected. The ambiance was mediocre.
Nothing negative, just a fair experience
We are such fans, always have been, and nothing has changed since it has gone outside only.
Ron S is the owner of the establishment. He cane to our table checking in on us. The wait staff couldn’t have been better. The food was well prepared generous in portion and good taste texture and presentation. The patio was warm and well socially distanced. All together a joyful dinner with people I love.
Terrible. Place is dumpy. I’d rather not eat anything that go here again
Came for a birthday dinner for my boyfriend and it was so beautiful and the food was amazing
Great love this place been coming here forever
Food was as expected for this place... the steak was good enough with a frozen lobster tail. Our server was excellent, though and this place is fun.
There patio in the rear was very nice. The service was good and the food was very good and a good selection. We will be back!
Love the Galley... food always great!! so glad they have the most wonderful outdoor seating in front and back!!
Everything was amazing even the $35 1942 shots :)
Great service and food quality !
I prefer the back patio to the front. Otherwise food was good service was OK ambience was nice. We go again
I was expecting great seafood but instead I got stuffing filled cakes with hints of crab instead of crab cakes. For $30 it should have been filled with crab. It was more like a crab imperial cake. Totally disappointed. The service was great though. The hostess was so cute and bubbly. The waitress apologized for the food and offered something else but I declined. No candles for my boyfriend’s birthday was a tad disappointing too. I probably wouldn’t go back.
Order the rib eye. It was ok. It the best steak but just ok
Old time beach restaurant with great food, casual ambience and service
It was a very nice place to have a private dinner. Food was delicious. Waitress was very sweet.
Excellent crab cakes and jumbo shrimp as well as the galley salad. Wonderful service. Social distancing and everyone wore masks
