Pitching itself simply as ‘the British restaurant in the heart of Brighton’s lanes’, there probably isn’t much more you need to know about The Gallery Restaurant. It stands out only by virtue of the fact that it’s just so darn popular. Quite simply, The Gallery Restaurant lives up to its promise. The location is impeccable – on a stretch between the Royal Pavilion and that infamous pebbled beach and boasting a unique selling point in the shape of a rather fabulous terrace on which one enjoys excellent people watching opportunities with the added comfort of heating and, when needed cover too. Equally excellent is The Gallery Restaurant’s food. That British cuisine they promise is a balance between homey comfort eating and light, European sophistication, all very well priced and covering all tastes and requirements, including good veggie options. Thanks to its location on a square popular with musicians most summer time visits will be accompanied day and night by free live music.

Top table allowed a booking for a restaurant that no longer exists! Appalling service from top table, DO NOT use this service to book for any special occasion!

We chose The Gallery for lunch as it had good reviews and the location is good. As the weather was good we ate at a table outside, it was very busy and it took us a while to be served but the waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was decent and good value but nothing to be excited about.

This is a small but really well turned out restaurant. It is basically a steak house but a very good one. The food was very good and the price was reasonable. Definately worth another visit.

Gallery restaurant set in the middle of the lanes obviously very much set up for tourists. Pretty venue, staff were attentive. Food was average - though obviously made there and then to order, which is always a bonus. Menu not extensive. Pleasant enough for a lunch visit, i was neither blown away nor repulsed! probably wouldnt visit it again, but it was a nice enough experience

Pretty location but lack lustre food and ambience. Risotto rice a little hard and the mussels a little overcooked but maybe it was because the place was empty. I imagine it is great on a busy night but sadly, I won't be returning.

I visited The Gallery Restaurant, 28 East Street, Brighton, BN1 1HL on a thursday evening with my girlfriend. The venue itself was very nice and we were able to specify where we wanted to sit. the service was great and could not be faulted in any way. The food was also very good, we had the set menu, but were able to find something we both really wanted and the prepared and presented to a very high standard and tasdted amazing. Overall a great experience and would definitely visit again.

The Gallery Restaurant, Brighton was excellent on our second visit! We had high expectations after our first visit last year and we were not disappointed this time round. The food was impeccable and the service was attentive. We opted to share a starter, have a main each and share a pudding which with the deal came to under £30 which was very good value. We both had the steak as a main which was delicious. Have recommended The Gallery to friends and will definitely visit again!

My husband, daughter (3) and I went here for lunch on Sat. Sat outside as it was a lovely day. Music playing, plenty of heaters available for when shade came over. Service friendly, attentive without being rushed. Food lovely, nice menu range - highly recommend it.

Very good value for money. The three course set menu is lovely and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a high standard meal for a cheap price.
