Very impressed! The service was phenomenal. Our server was extremely attentive and hospitable. The food was delicious and the mimosas even better. Will definitely return in the near future.
Always a great experience, great service and great food!
Excellent service, amazing wines and a great menu.
We loved the Funky door. We had the best server, who helped us choose wine, cocktails, and appetizers! The jazz band was amazing. The pepper jack fondue is amazing!!!
Delicious. Our waiter, Levi, was super. I had some dietary requests and he conveyed them perfectly and the kitchen carried them out. Wonderful upgrade from the old space.
Overall decent experience. The bar and atmosphere are great. The food is average. If you’re not going to season my food in the kitchen, at least give me the option at the table with a salt and pepper shaker. Why can’t Lubbock get a complete fine dining restaurant? West Table has a great kitchen and an average bar. The Funky Door has a great bar with an average kitchen.
When we arrived there was no hostess and we waited 4 minutes to be seated. Now, that doesn’t sound like much but it felt like an eternity when you’re hungry. The service was fair. We had to wait a bit for service. It appeared they only had one waiter with 14 tables. I get P&L control but at the expense of service? The food was pretty good. I’d like to also point out that the Funky Door has exceptional ambiance and the set up is very nice with a good sized rounded bar and a second floor. I wouldn’t mind grabbing a drink there at night.
Well, it was a mixed experience.
Food was good as usual but the brunch menu wasn’t overtly different than their evening dinner menu (mire of twists on dishes they already serve).
Table Service was good. But reception wasn’t - they saw my overtly pregnant wife (who isn’t more than 5 ft) and yet decided that the high chair was the best place to offer for seating (alternative being upstairs seating which doesn’t have a restroom nearby - only restrooms are located 2 flights below and that’s a pain for a heavily pregnant woman).
Also they knew it was her birthday but didn’t acknowledge it, which always shows that the staff went an extra mile.
I tipped well (20%) as I liked the food and the server.
But wouldn’t choose this place for a special occasion.
Tip - if your wife is pregnant, please let them know ahead to reserve a regular table DOWNSTAIRS.
Absolutely loved the Funcky Door!! This was my second time to go, and it was just as good of an experience this time! Definitely recommend going for a fun date night!
Great overall experience! We were in and our in about an hour! Will definitely come again!
This place was great! Server was amazing, other friendly staff, food was delicious, quiet setting mostly, etc. I brought my friend for his B-day and it was pricey but everything we had was delicious. A few odd combinations, but even the odd combos paired nicely, like the fried pickles and cheddar (See! Odd but strangely delicious). It was a much needed "hit" after the last few "misses" we'd experienced our last few restaurant picks.
This is a local restaurant/bar with great ambience. I was a regular at the first location; however, the second (new) location is just spectacular. Ben has always been my favorite server and he always will be. Ben is a true gentleman, knowledgeable about food and spirits, and an overall fun/authentic person to help with menu and drink decisions. He is a gem!!! The owners should clone him!
Really enjoyed the evening. Waiter was very attentive. Food was better than ever. First time to visit the new venue. Much better than the old one.
The wine was way to pricey for the amount I got. It was good but too much money. The food was good as well but, it was pricey too. I will choose a different drink and menu item next time. If I get to go again.
Our waitress was busy but, she did a great job. I could not leave her a tip unfortunately because I spent all the money I had for my budget that night.
Great evening celebrating Valentine’s Day at the Funky Door!
Restaurant had Valentine’s Day meal special. We ordered the special unbeknownst that the special was per person not a couple. The server or the menu did not indicate that the price was per person. When asked to speak with a manager the front desk associate simply gave us her name and offered a free drink for our next visit. We felt a bit taken advantage of and will not be going back there again.
this was our first time to eat at the funky door. it was a very nice place to eat our valentines dinner.
Getting better all the time in terms of service. Food is very good. Menu is varied, offers something for everyone. Live music can be much too loud if you sit downstairs. The Ahi tuna is fabulous and be sure to try the truffle fries! We will keep going back.
It was very busy, had a shared server, with a table of 30. Why would management do that?? We hardly saw him, several times trying to stop another server to request anything (such as empty drinks for almost 30 minutes) a manager never stopped by to apologize, in our 2 1/2 hours there, not from meandering, but editing that long for our food. Food was not what it usually is, love this place, but very disappointed in this visit.
Great food and service!!!!!
Great wine list and good plus food! Highly recommended. Repeat customers that drove from out of state for the threat meal and Moonlight Musicals...
My wife and I went to the Funky Door for an early Valentine's Day dinner. When you plan a night away from the kids, and take time to make these plans, including a reservation, you expect certain things. First off, we were not seated at our reservation time. We should have known that was a sign of things to come. We were seated in a side room, which seemed ok, given it was a little bit quieter. Our service was horrible. Our wine flight arrived with no description of which wine was which. The highlight of our dinner was the fondue. That was it, as our steaks both arrived overdone - my medium rare was a medium well. They corrected the issue, but no visit from chef or manager, no offset on bill.
Long delays between courses, no glasses provided with bottled hefeweizen beer, no fondue forks provided. When you spend nearly $200 (!) this is not what you should expect. We won't be returning, many other worthy choices in Lubbock.
Beautiful building. It has lost some of the intimacy that the other restaurant had. It was very noisy.
Great place. We had two couples cancel out on us so they were just so gracious in reseating us, especially since this was Saturday night. Great food and excellent menu. The Chilean Sea Bass was not quite up to par but everything else was perfect and at appropriate temperatures and such. Highly recommend.
The Funky Door is a very nice restaurant. Unfortunately the regulars at the bar seem to think they own the place, and make passing by the bar to the restrooms impossible. The management might want to ask them to be considerate of the other patrons, so everyone can enjoy their visit.
Had my wife's birthday their, waitress (Halle) was so polite and nice we had A-blast. Will Definitely be back. I would highly recommend it to my friends and family.
We were tight on time with a flight to catch and they accommodated us beautifully! We had appetizers, main course AND dessert in 30 minutes! Excellent food and service!
Funky Door was good as always. Fondue good, dinner good, wine selection good. On live music nights, the music tends to be a little loud, so prepare to yell at all those around your table if you want to have conversation. Maybe they'll get this toned down a bit over time.
I don't like the bar closing at 3:00 pm. We went elsewhere because of this.
fondue dishes were the best part of the meal. Had the gouda cheese fondue with veggies for an appetizer, which i recommend. My filet was disappointing. It was cooked Medium rare to perfection but the quality of meat is something you may order from a chain "fast food" style restaurant. Another member of my party ordered the Bone In NY strip and same quality of meat. The dessert fondues are incredible. Wine selection was above normal for Lubbock.
Loove the Funky Door, one of our favorites restaurants in Lubbock.
Awesome had a great time talking with family. Wait staff was great and food was the best.
Great décor both outdoor and indoor. Very well dressed and pretty crowd. The lighting is a bit dark so you might want to have a small flashlight or your phone handy to read the menu, although there are areas that are well lit, just depends on what seat you get. Great food and great service. Live music when we were there and it was a very nice evening.
3 of the 4 of us received good food. Everything on my plate was cold when received. Sent back (sea bass) and didn’t receive again until the others were done eating. Unfortunately it was still cold. The manager was apologetic (I had to track her down because the server didn’t offer). Very unfortunate because it is a high priced restaurant and should know how to properly prepare food. Was given a gift card but unfortunately went home hungry not having received a meal.
My daughters and I had an excellent experience. The service was well timed and friendly, the food is wonderful and includes a great wine list.
Overall great dining experience. Food was delicious and service was great. Only negative is they sat us at a “makeshift table” that was basically the size of an end table. Very difficult to have our fondue and entrees on the table.
Enjoyed the food and the entertainment! I had the Sea Bass and spaghetti squash. Low Carb and delicious.
LOVE the funky door!! Great food and atmosphere! Great for dates and girls night.
Live music was too loud to visit for business dinner. Everything else was great.
I had a reservation, however we still had to wait 20 minutes, but the manager accommodated us with a glass of champagne. We were seated in a room right under the stairs, air vent and large window. It was freezing with the air conditioner on and so loud with footsteps. We waited another 25 minutes before I had to find the hostess and tell her we were never waited on. The waitress was fine but clearly spread thin and would hardly come to our table. We had to ask to get the air conditioner turned off and she said to move to the other side of the table as if the whole vent wasn’t directly over our whole table. Not my best experience at the Funky Door, and I’m sad about it.
