The Funky Door
It was great!
Our first trip to The Funky Door was pure surprise and excitement. Great restaurant, good food, fantastic ambience and a massive wine list.
It was great food, drinks and service. It was loud and that was the only that was bothering. It was hard to visit due to the noise.
Our waitress was very helpful with great recomendations.
Great, as always!!
Food was delicious! Wonderful service, unique atmosphere, overall, a terrific experience!
This was a great brunch. The steak and gags was great. Jalapeño grits were awesome. And the jazz guitar was really awesome. Love the ambiance. Eager to come back.
Great place. Heard they are opening one up in Fort Worth!
Fort Worth is going to love the Funky Door!!!
My husband and I went to The Funky Door in 2015 while vacationing in Lubbock, Texas and loved it. We chose to return. We were so surprised to see that the restaurant moved to a new and bigger location. The restaurant is beautiful and so spacious. The food was still exceptional! We ate the Kobe Burger with Chef’s Veggies-outstanding! We will continue to return each time we come to Lubbock.
Great food. Wonderful service.
Loved the service and atmosphere. Also very friendly staff! My waiter was Matt and he was outstanding. Will return!
Superb, as always. Ben Parker took amazing care of us at our table and was so knowledgeable about the wine and menu items. Couldn’t have had a more pleasant experience at the Funky Door! If you’re not going, you’re cheating yourself.
Excellent food and service as always. However, the couple next to us had a kid playing on the floor and with her mom. This was not a baby. Kind of killed the mood as the Funky Door is an upscale restaurant, not McDonald’s playground. Otherwise, 5 stars. I wished the manager would have done something. Definitely will go back, but won’t put up with that behavior again.
Wade, the chef, did an amazing job of creating a special dinner for my wife who has a number of allergies. The place is amazing. We sat upstairs which I recommend! Live entertainment was good as well.
My wife were on a driving vacation and planned a stop in Lubbock. I had heard great things about The Funky Door, but still was not prepared for the outstanding dining experience that awaited us that evening. It was the perfect ending to a long day of driving and sight seeing. It took a little while for our waitress to arrive because of a big party a few tables down, but when she made it to our table, she was gracious, friendly, and full of great suggestions. My wife ordered three drinks based on those suggestions and almost had a spiritual experience. The food and dessert was every bit as good as the drinks and the live music downstairs along with the lively customers, and contemporary decor made for a unforgettable ambiance. My wife has informed me that a visit to the Funky Door is mandatory anytime we are in Lubbock. Knowing that we live hours from Lubbock and aren’t sure when we will be back, she was quite disappointed when she learned there is only one Funky Door.
Best place in town no doubt. Easy to unwind and enjoy an evening with my wife. Love it.
Great atmosphere and service. Sophisticated menu with many choices for small and larger appetites and types of food
The service was prompt, friendly and not rushed. Drinks arrived promptly and the wine selection was outstanding. We arrived early, and the noise level was low. The attractive two level dining room with a spiral staircase leading to the upper level looked like it could get noisy when filled with guests. The stairs wrapped around a large glass-enclosed wine cooler. The coconut shrimp appetizer was excellent. We ordered the lobster mac & cheese, and the beef tacos. Bother entrees were fresh, well prepared and tasted great. Prices were more like Hawaii than Lubbock, but this isn’t the typical Lubbock restaurant.
Server Ben was wonderful. Music too loud.
We went for our anniversary and our server was fantastic. Madalyn was great. The service is sometimes hit or miss, but was on point that evening. The live music was not too loud, but enjoyable and the food was very good.
We celebrated our forty eighth Anniversary at the Funky Door. The food is so good. We had the Fiesta Fondue with the fillet tips. The steak was unbelievable as was the fondue. We finished our meal with a banana foster fondue. The service was above par and the atmosphere was nice.
This isn’t our first time. My wife and I really enjoy the dining environment. Also food and drinks are great!
Highly recommend the crab cakes, amazing!!! Great experience and the food & drinks were excellent! T
Food and service is always great. Later in the evening, the atmosphere is very energetic.
We had a reservation through Open Table. The table they seated us at at first was so small. We asked to be. Over and at first were told by waiter they couldn’t but then he did go ask. He forgot to bring us water asked several times. He was preoccupied with table next to us that had a friend at. We waited for him to pick up bill and I finally had to get up and take to manager.
Food was good. The steK wS ordered medium and really came our medium rRe but with the horrible service we didn’t want to chance sending it back. The noise level was extremely high and they had a musician playing as well. She was very good but you even struggled to her her talk between songs which wasn’t fair to her. Food good service horrible
Amazing food, amazing staff, and mimosas are to die for!
The brunch was so good!
Great place! Fun atmosphere. Great wine selection, live music, fondue, regular entrees and excellent service. Something for everyone. Would highly recommend. Easy reservations on Open Table.
Wonderful service and great food
When band started it became too loud
The Funky Door is always great!! My wife and I have been coming here for years, even back to their original location. We brought a client and his fiancé (their first time) and really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommended!!
We had a grand brunch. The live music was very, very good! We had avocado eggs Benedict...and it never disappoints! Add a side of vegetables or beef tips...or enjoy the buffet. It was sooooo good!
A welcome change to the dining options at Lubbock. The best watering hole for the wine lovers.
Keep it up. Would visit again.
Love The Funky Door! Brunch is definitely better than the dinner experience. Wanted to give a recognition to Matt G. He is an amazing server! Definitely coming back for brunch!
I love the Funky Door. Every time I'm in Lubbock, I go there to eat. The food and the service is amazing and the entertainment is very enjoyable.
I let Open Table know it was my birthday, thought there would be something special offered, not until I told them twice it was my birthday and they brought me a glass of champagne . Really think they should have offered my husband a glass, come on they didn’t serve an expensive glass,!,we did buy a very nice bottle of wine!, Think that is really cheap on Funky Door!,,
Banana foster fondue was fantastic. Margarita is not very good. Did not care for the steak have had much better steaks at other restaurants. Felt like they are overpriced.
Waitress gave this place a bad name. She was the worst She was exceptionally rude. the table and the floor around us were filthy she never checked back on us for drinks until the end when she offered us teas to go. I gave her a $.15 tip and felt that was too much. Very uncharacteristic of this great place
Hey Cory, I am so sorry for your unfortunate visit. We value all of our guests feedback and would love for the opportunity to visit with you further about this. Please email us at thefunkydoorwineroom@gmail Thank you, Jessicka Gonzales GM
The atmosphere is amazing and we especially enjoyed the jazz brunch. I was blown away by the shrimp and grits, the cheese sticks were a nice surprise as well. Would love to visit here more often if only I didn’t live in AL!
Went for brunch with family for my birthday. After checking out the menu online we were excited to try certain things, only to find out that they were serving a limited menu that weekend due to graduation, of which we were not fully informed of until after we had placed our order. (We did notice the menu was much smaller than what is posted on the website). The food was great and our waiter was very kind, but unfortunately not a great overall experience like we have had on previous visits.
We had a great dinner. The fondue is a must. All of our entrees were excellent. We love coming here when we visit our Red Raider.
