Great spot! The food was good and the patio is great. Get a Pink Fizzy Martini when you go!
The Funky Door was amazing! This is a great place for a date, party, business meal or anything else you need when food or drink is a part of it. The live music was good and not too loud on the second level. The patio looked great as well. It was difficult to choose what to eat as everything looked phenomenal. Our server, Landry, was superb......from wine selection to food choose. He was on too of his game! We will be sure to ask for him next time!
This was my husband and my third time dining at The Funky Door. We really want to enjoy it. It’s a cool place, and the live music is great. But the food... we just can’t justify going anymore. The drinks and music aren’t worth trying to dine there anymore.
First, we want to give them props for their drinks. Perfect dirty martinis and cocktails.
However, Lubbock is hot and dry, and the food at the Funky Door echoes that sentiment. We started with the beef wontons- the wonton was thick and tough, and fried. We could have used a steak nice to cut through them (and not because of the steak). My husband had the smothered chicken dish, which he said was ok but under seasoned. His asparagus still had the tough stalks attached, and he asked to sub mushrooms for the potatoes. Didn’t get the mushrooms, but was charged the substitution charge of $3. I was trying to avoid a large dish of disappointing food so I got the crab cakes and a side of “blistered” okra. The crab cakes were mostly breading with a slightly fishy taste. The aioli was the only thing that made them edible, but after one I couldn’t bring myself to eat anymore. Even my husband (who absolutely hates to waste) didn’t want them. The “blistered” okra- I just don’t know what to say. It was cut up, fried, dried, okra. In my mind I was thinking along the line of blistered shishitos, and what a great idea to do with whole okra. No. That is not what that is. Think more along the lines of okra chips, but greasy and drier. We decided to have desert for the fun of it, it was already so bad we were going to go all out with the creme brûlée. So, I’ll say it tasted good, because I like vanilla pudding and burnt sugar. But this was not what I would consider creme brûlée.
We will not be back to dine. However, we may stop sometime after dinner for drinks and music.
Fun time out with my friend
good place good place good place good place good place
We had a great anniversary brunch! Food and service were amazing, and the live music was great!
Amazing ! Our waitress Sydney was the best and we will definitely be going back.
Great food and awesome service. Definitely will be back.
Will Banister was again outstanding. Our waitress was excellent and so kind.
The restaurant has an extensive wine list and a large by the glass selection. Wine and food was great
Once again The Funky Door impresses with the food, cocktails, and outstanding service
Food was lukewarm and it just wasn’t good. Husband’s beer tasted like syrup. Service was good and ambience was too.
Our favorite place for a nice family dinner or a date night with my wife!! Blayne is the best server you could ask for!! His attention to detail goes above and beyond anything you’ve ever experienced!! The food is AMAZING!!!
We had a delicious anniversary dinner and our sweet waitress brought us some complimentary champagne for the occasion.
Perfect for a date night! We enjoyed every second!
This was our second time dining at The Funky Door. The hostesses were very accommodating and we were very pleased with our table which was right by the live band. And the live band was really enjoyable.
Unfortunately, we were very unimpressed with our meals. My husband had the filet which came with potatoes and asparagus. The filet was ok, but not the quality of a steakhouse. The asparagus was way overcooked and the tough ends were not trimmed. So, soggy asparagus with chewy ends. I got the lobster Mac and cheese. It was so salty and the lobster tasted a bit “off”. I forced myself to eat some of it, and put the rest in a box and left it at the hotel. The breadcrumbs didn’t enhance the flavor of the dish, and the “cheese” was so greasy and oily. The dish was greasy.
Overall, the atmosphere and drinks would be the best reason to go to The Funky Door.
Food, cocktails, and service were excellent. The bartenders are some of the best in the business and can prepare just about anything.
I won’t book a reservation near close of business anymore. The service was the worst we’ve ever had there. Maybe if that’s how their guests will be treated, restrict reservations to one hour before close? Yikes. It will be a while before we return.
We were celebrating our Anniversary and was met at our table with the nice surprise of champagne and ice cream (which was delicious)!!! Our server was one of the best that we’ve ever had during our visits to Funky Door!! I’m not sure if you can request servers, but if you can we’d recommend that you ask for Blayne!!! This man is on his game!! Thank you Funky Door and Blayne for another great anniversary celebration!!

Second time we’ve been here in a week and the first time was much better. We were seated downstairs where the ambience was great the first time. This time we were put upstairs with our group of five kind of back in a corner. Just didn’t feel the same. Was plenty of room downstairs, I don’t know if the reason was social distancing or what but I recommend seating on the lower level.
Fantastic food even better service! Great date night!
Overall excellent experience. It’s just very hard to visit with life and being so loud… Even upstairs!
My wife had the fondue as always it was excellent. I had the chicken cordon blue and it was good. The drinks were great and the service was awesome!!
IT WAS AMAZING PER USUAL! Our waiter was delightful and food was stellar. I love this place and will continue to recommend it for others.
Great food, drinks and atmosphere. Will make a regular stop when going to Lubbock.
My favorite place in town!!
Service by Drew was professional.
Great food. Loved the atmosphere. Had live music and was put right next to it so it was loud for brunch but we will definitely go back
Great time at the Funky Door. Good food, excellent selection of wines and drinks. The music was great and the atmosphere was amazing. Took my wife here for our anniversary and couldn’t have chosen a better place. The staff was attentive but not overbearing and if you have a question about the wines, were very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend trying this place if you haven’t.
We had a great date night with awesome food and live music! The Rose Sangria was delicious and we ended with the key lime pie that was mighty tasty!
Food was phenomenal, service was exceptional...a wonderful dining experience!!
5 star Service for our anniversary!
The previous time, the food had many errors and the service was poor. Decided to give them another chance and everything was drastically improved. I plan on eating here again soon. The daily soup offering was excellent, as was the Lobster Mac and Cheese. The bartenders here are experts and can craft almost any cocktail conceivable by the clientele. Definitely recommend to anybody hoping to have a delicious dinner or a well crafted cocktail.
Great atmosphere and wine selection. Food was surprisingly not as good this time. Steak was slightly overcooked. Spaghetti squash lasagna served with spinach was overpowered with garlic. I will go back though.
Love the Funky Door for brunch. Our server Patrick was fantastic. Will definitely sit in his section again.
The Funky Door is a very nice place for a dinner date, drinks worth friends, or just coffee and desert. I highly recommend it!
Great dinner. We sat close to the stage area so the music was a little hard. Made it hard to visit. But overall was good evening.
Excellent brunch menu for and only slightly more expensive than fast food. Try the blistered okra. It’s something special.
Celebrated Graduating from Texas Tech. It was a fun atmosphere, delicious food and drinks. Service was outstanding as usual! Funky Door is always our favorite!
This was our second time visiting and The Funky Door was supreme again!! The wife and I had filets, AMAZING!!! We also tried the dessert fondu which was out of this world! We will definitely be back, this is now our new favorite place when visiting Lubbock.
