The Front Yard Ratings and Reviews
Great outdoor patio ambience. Delicious Groundwork’s coffee made in a French press that they bring to the table. The Noho omelet came with beautiful avocado sliced across the top and tomatillo salsa on the side. It was the perfect place to breakfast with friends on Saturday morning. They add in a tip, so make sure you read the tip information card that comes with your bill. You have thr option of leaving more on top of the 12% tip they have already added in.
The location is great & valet is rather inexpensive. The old “whole party must be there to be seated” rule was highly enforced & I was none the happier for it, as my business dinner guests were running really late & I would’ve loved a table while I waited. While the food was pretty darn good, our server not only forgot our drinks (twice) but she also messed up our food order. I’d go back for the drinks alone, for sure. The food was more than okay but nothing to write home about.
The staff and service was on Point!! I threw a small surprise birthday party for my mom. Everyone from the hostess/reservationist to the server were extremely helpful in planning this event! The food and ambiance made our day so nice and comforting.I would definitely go back!! Thank you to the whole Front Yard Team!! They really made the day very special=)
I was very excited to find a local spot that seemed to have a large outdoor dining area and reasonable prices. The menu sounded tasty as well. I was disappointed that the descriptions did not match the flavor palette. In fact, the food seemed pretty bland. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable. The dining areas though, are delightful. I could see coming in for coffee to get together with friend to sit in a pleasant area. The $7 parking was shocking, and no sign that they validate (they do!) so I found street parking.
We went here on a Girl's Night Out. We had made reservations ahead of time and requested to sit near the fireplace. However, we got the furthest from the fireplace. There were other empty tables and I'm not sure why were seated off so far. But besides that, the food was good and tasty. All my friends had a great time and they loved the ambiance.
I know that the restaurant does a lot of business from the hotel guests as they should as the restaurant is fun and the food is good. I just wish they would pay more attention to the locals/regulars when we come in. If you make a special request for a table, the hostess should be aware. The wait staff should not assume that every single person that comes in is a first-timer especially since I've had the same waiter 4 or 5 times.
We were pleasantly surprised of how tasty the food was. The ambience was very nice as well. We had the mushroom flatbread and the burger with a fried egg, yum! The fries that came with it had the most delicious seasoning too! Just that memory made my mouth water a little bit!
The restaurant has a nice patio, however, it is best enjoyed during off peak hours for best service and table accommodation. The menu is rather limited and the dinner menu is a bit pricey for the style of the restaurant. A good go to for drinks or lunch/brunch.
This was my third visit to the Front Yard. The décor and outdoor setting/access is a huge draw and makes the place very inviting. The food selection is eclectic and wholesome, creative and appealing. The portions are not generous. We ordered the hummus appetizer and they parse out four triangles of pita, 2 radishes and 2 watermelon radishes with the small bowl. Just seems sparse and wasn't enough do dads to use to eat the hummus.
They have a strict policy that they won't split anything for their guests, e.g. salads, entrees, but they bring you plates and a knife to do it yourself. Not such a big deal but it seemed a bit rigid, particularly when they offer several entrees that are meant to be shared. We got the whole branzino for 2, and then it was up to me to split up the whole fish and sides. It's just awkward and for the price, $45, they should have at least helped with splitting the fish and maybe offer some tableside assistance. Instead, I got 2 small salad plates to place the other portion, which kind of cheapened the dish. Service has been the down fall of the place in each of my visits and this time was no different. Adequate but the server made no effort to chat, exchange pleasantries, just all business.
We were told we had to wait 30-40 mins to be seated outside when there were plenty of open tables. They said those were reservations however, I had a reservation myself and did not have an option to request outside seating. Also, we ordered the bottomless mimosas and were questioned if we were driving after the third mimosa. It was very uncomfortable and felt like I was being judged but in no moment did we act as if we had too much to drink so I’m not sure why we were questioned like that.
The Front Yard is a wonderful brunch spot in the Valley. It is great for families and for friends. The food is delicious with fun twists on classic brunch favorites. My egg's benedict was made with a short rib meat instead of ham, and it was a delicious change. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for a new go to place for brunch!
They were very busy so the service was slow. Ordered a Salad off the menu. A wedge it showed up without the pork belly I was told they changed ingredients to bacon bits which were not on either. Ordered a pasta dish and was told they don't have any bread there. Like a french bread or something. A gentleman from the kitchen served our food wasn't very friendly. Our waiter was very nice.
We had the Nutella French Toast with bananas and strawberries. Great dish, but a bit too much Nutella for my taste (I prefer a hint rather than a layer). The service was a bit slow, but it was at 12:30 pm on a Sunday so it was a pretty full restaurant at the time. They also have large parties so that was taking up servers.
The food was good but there aren't enough veggie options (I had to go with two starters, and there were no specials due to the DineLA offer, which also had no veggie entree).
Also, the place was packed - staff was doing its best to accommodate but not every employee was on the ball (for example, we were asked to stand to one side after checking in with the front desk, and then a totally different staff member came up and asked if she could help, as if we were befuddled tourists). Our waitress was lovely, though.
All that said, we enjoyed our meal, the atmosphere was great, and we will be back. I'm also glad that management has decided to increase employees' pay.
We went Saturday for my friends birthday. The ambiance was very nice. Sitting in the patio hidden from the world was fabulously unique experience and for that reason I would go back. We had brunch royal sandwich - a very yummy short rib with a fried egg on top hamburger. Loved it. The coffee came in a French press which was neat but the coffee they use was tart and I couldn’t drink it. Our waitress was the worst part of the experience. She was terrible. She had a bad attitude like she was doing us a favor. She hardly came by to ask if we needed anything. When I said I couldn’t drink the coffee she didn’t offer me another option or anything. She should not be in the service industry. The other waiters were hustling and helping their tables. I felt jiped especially it was my friends birthday and she didn’t do anything to make it or more special. Otherwise we enjoyed and I will give them another chance but if poor service is repeated then we are done.
