The Front Yard
We went here for Valentine’s Dinner and shared the Angus Rib Eye with fingerlings, mushrooms, and Shishito peppers! We also shared the fig/burrata/arugula salad. Both were delicious! The service was top notch and our drinks and food came out quickly. Highly recommend.
Charming restaurant with great food! I will definitely be returning.
THE FRONT DESK WAS VERY WELCOMING AND ACCOMODATING AND CHANGED OUR SEAT TO A MORE QUIET SPOT. THE FOOD WAS OK BUT THE SERVICE WAS SLOW.MAYBE WE WOULD GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY.
I haven’t been there in over a year and it’s much improved. New chef perhaps?? Bar area had a great vibe..a little loud but that’s to be expected. We sat outside by the fire and had a very nice evening.
What a gem this place is! The menu, the service, the atmosphere... everything is wonderful and makes for a completely excellent brunch experience. Plus the bottomless mimosas are delicious (and spiked with some brandy for a signature kick we loved). Our server, Jenna, was very kind, quick, and engaging while still giving us plenty of time to enjoy ourselves in peace. We chose the outdoor seating and were not disappointed. Beautiful patio setup with a fireplace in the far corner and heat lamps scattered throughout for everyone else. We’ll surely be back (and for dinner, too)! Pro tip: order the blueberry pop tart. I’d eat one every morning if I could.
We live close by and The Front Yard has evolved into a terrific neighborhood restaurant over the past several years. Great food. Great ambience. Great service.
Fabulous ambiance and food! I felt like I was in Palm Springs. I will absolutely go back!
Friends were visiting from Australia. We live in Studio City & took them to the Front Yard for lunch. Sat on the patio for 3 hrs! Great food, great drinks, and service. You’re doing a great job. Thank you. Keep it up!
Outstanding from start to finish. It was my first visit and I will definitely look forward to the opportunity to return.
A beautiful restaurant with a great atmosphere to enjoy your meal in. We were there for a Sunday brunch and it was packed. The noise from many mouths talking away is, at first, a bit off-putting, but you'll get used to it. Just see it as a bunch of people having a good time. It's an interesting menu worth exploring.
They have THE BESTTTTT bottomless mimosas with brandy, champagne, peach and orange juice...honesty the best I've ever had. The portobello mushroom burger is yummy but the thai shrimp salad was bland, had zero flavor even when we put extra dressing on it. The lettuce was old and the noodles were dry. Wasted $17 on it. Service was great! Our server was very kind and attentive with the mimosas and anything we wanted. Coffee is great.
The food was good ... but not as good as Bellwether or Manhattan Beach Post whose offerings are conformable. And ... it was overpriced .., not to be confused with expensive. Jose Andreas Bazaar is expensive ... but not overpriced for example ... worth it. The Front Yard pricing included 15% service (service included becoming more common) ... but they taxed the service which is just wrong & annoying. More annoying was the fact our server and host asked “is everything alright?” ... 5X ... makes you wonder.
My favorite place to get octopus!
First time took my sister for breakfast on her birthday, it was clean and quite great atmosphere would recommend to all my family and friends. Awesome staff
Great service and food. They were also super with accommodating some dietary restrictions for me. Will definitely go back when I’m in town again!
Great ambiance-try the blue cheese filet
We went there tonight for my girlfriend’s birthday. We had our doors. The ambience was delightful. I had some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. This is an excellent restaurant for an occasion and an excellent value
First time and enjoyed it.
Nice they allow dogs.
Food was delicious! Service was on point — it’s always nice when the manager is hovering to make sure everyone is happy.
Always fabulous. Very consistent. Great staff, everything tastes good and happy hour is a great deal. Nice vibe. Enjoy
This place is consistently great! The hostesses were super friendly and accommodating, our server Austin was fantastic and got everything perfect for us (including taking a really nice picture of our group at the end of our meal), and the food was super tasty and reasonably priced. Such a hidden gem ... we can’t wait to come back!
Bar staff were unfriendly & difficult to get service from but the host & waiters were friendly & professional. We enjoyed the restaurant but probably wouldn't come back just for drinks.
We did the Dine LA menu and were quite pleased with the quality and creativeness of the menu. The duck toast starter was outstanding, as was the pork and the fish dishes. i love the creaminess of the butterscotch pudding. only dish that was so-so was the grilled octopus which had a nice seasoning but was a bit chewy. But the reason to do there is the patio. it us spacious and attractive and you dont crowded at all. service was fantastic, accomodating allergies and fast and efficient. we will be back!!
Food could be more simplistic. But options were good. Chair and table arrangement could be better but there was ample room. The entrance isn’t actually eye-catching. I loved their personal mimosa mix.
Very Nice setting ....and good food
Took a while to be seated although we had a reservation- ambiance great outside but inside is super loud. Food was very good.
I loved The Front Yard...it isn't anything like a traditional hotel restaurant! The place is really lovely, especially around the fire pits, the food is delicious and our waiter couldn't have been more charming. I would have given it five stars if it hadn't been for the nickel and dime-ing. When we received our check we were told 12% had been added...6% for the waiter and 6% for the other staff. Therefore if we wanted to give our waiter the traditional 20% we would have to add another 12%, bringing our total to 24%! Then when we went to pick up the valet, we found it was $4 plus tax bringing it to $4.40. Restaurants are doing this nonsense more and more and my feeling is if they want the customers to pay their staff expenses, including health insurance, they should raise their prices...don't add on pennies to the bill. It left a bad taste to an otherwise lovely evening.
The restauarnt has a great outdoor patio (when it's not raining) with a fireplace. The food is good with a number of sharable items. Try the chive bread and the deviled eggs. The patty melt was juicy and tender. We also tried the ancient grains salad which is good if you like kale. They also offer some good handcrafted cocktails. Self-parking is free with validation and valet is $4.00 for threee hours.
We went to enjoy the dine la menu and loved it. Huge portions and delicious food. Good variety. We got to choose the area we wanted to sit at and the server was very attentive and helpful! Will be back for sure!
Service was impeccable and food was delicious. Everyone should try the blueberry pop tarts and mushroom flatbread. Usual hang out that never disappoints!
Great place for a date
My group and I had a great time at Front Yard. Our waitress was attentive to all of the mimosas we had and the entire staff was there at any moment to drop plates off or pick them up when we were done. I would definitely go back.
The Front Yard has an ambiance that makes the visit feel special. Nice touches everywhere. Staff was pleasant & very professional. Service was quick and very efficient. The service was attentive, although it felt a bit more businesslike than I'd expected given the ambiance of the place. Not a complaint, just an observation by someone who frequents restaurants often, and at all levels. Overall, I would definitely recommend The Front Yard to family, friends and business associates. The place is a gem.
Very attentive service, excellent food and attractive setting. We were all very happy with the experience.
At the moment I'd describe The Front Yard as, if not a neighborhood gem, at least a neighborhood semi-precious stone. I was looking for a convenient spot to meet an old friend/business associate for lunch and saw the nice reviews. The experience was absolutely consistent with those reviews. The restaurant has a nice open, casual style and were the weather nicer, an attractive outdoor area. It must still be pretty undiscovered because it was almost empty at 1:00, a time when many Ventura Blvd. restaurants are packed and noisy. Our waitperson was prompt and personable, and the lemon chicken paillard we both had was terrific. Flavorful and tender, with nice vegetables. If you're looking for a spot you can actually hear each other talk while eating a very good, reasonably priced lunch, you could do a lot worse than this.
Overall the experience was great. The brunch menu has a lot of great options and was pretty tasty. The only thing that ruined our experience was when they another table with a huge wolf dog sat next to us. Their dog was shedding so much hair it was raining dog hair and went all over our food and drinks. The manager was kind enough to remove one dish from our bill but it would have been a better idea to sit this large animal in the corner and not in the middle of the restaurant.
Food was not good. Every dish was off (too salty, too fishy, etc.) except for the pesto butternut squash pasta, which I could make at home. Service was good and server was nice. Ambiance was also less than stellar- looks like they just tried to put makeup on a really old space.
We live in the neighborhood and go there once a month. The food is always good and the staff is very accommodating. Glad to have them here!
The Front Yard has great 70's decore as a backdrop to a wonderful brunch. I had the baked eggs cooked to perfection with sauteed pepper and a little bite to it. Others with me had the homemade poptarts--yummy--and a grilled shrimp and egg dish. Everything was very good. The service from Austin was also excellent. I highly recommend The Front Yard and we will return next time we're in the area!
