The Front Page - VA Ratings and Reviews
We sat in a small, dark corner. It was so dark we couldn't see our food. It was very noisy as there was a Caps game on that night but the sound on the TV was so loud it actually hurt our ears and the couple sitting at the table next to us had to cover their young child's ears. The food was also mediocre. I probably will never go to this place again.
I love this place! I've been going here for years. They always have amazing specials and the regular menu has something for everyone. Whether you're looking for quiet dinning or a fun night out this is the place to go. The dinning room is separated from the bar so dinner with the family or a date isn't interrupted by the noise from the bar, which is always fun and has every game on!
Recently had brunch at the Front Page.
While the food was tasty and the ambiance nice, the meal with riddled with issues.
The waitress was not very knowledgable about what sides came with the meal and two out of three received the wrong dish. When the bill was prepared it was incorrect. After pointing this out to the waitress she brought us two more incorrect versions until we finally got one that was right. When we went to the manager to complain, she saw us coming and promptly walked away. She had to be chased down for us to talk to her.
A very disappointing experience.
The best part of Front Page is the bartender! My waitress appeared to be in a fog during most of the service, however the food and the bartender more than made up for it. We went for brunch and in addition to having a maet, waffle and omelet station, there was Bloody Mary bar. Bonus points for that one. If you are looking for a casual local place to either enjoy a meal with your family or catch the game, this is the spot.
I've been to the Front Page various times before, but this was the first time I sat outside. The experience was much nicer than others I've had in the past- it was quiet, and fortunately, the weather was perfect. My food came in large portions, and I got a Happy Hour deal on my drinks. I just wish more liquors were included in their list of rail drinks.
I've been to Front Page several times - for Brunch, Lunch and Dinner - and the food never disappoints. I had my first eggs benedict there for lunch and it was delicious! They have good pastas and salad for dinner and one of my friends raved about their prime rib, which I believe is a special on a certain night. It can be loud depending on what kind of sporting events there are and some nights there is a DJ in the bar area and if you can get a good group of people you can get some decent dancing in! I go back often.
Another very nice meal at The Front Page. So convenient to get to, opposite Ballston Common Mall. I am a frequent lunch guest, but this was my first dinner. Excellent service, very attentive. My Blackened Chicken Fettucine dinner was superb with tender chicken cooked right (not overcooked!) and delicious fettucine, with a sauce that was just fantastic. We got the window seat I asked for and it was relaxed, friendly service with just the right level of attention. Good prices, and super food - perfect. You can never go wrong here.
Had another excellent lunch today. The Turkey Burger is fantastic, the service is great and you really feel welcome at The Front Page. This is a super place for a casual business lunch. Highly recommended if you are in Ballston. Park in the Ballston Common lot and cross Wilson Blvd. The menu is huge and you can get just about anything you'd want. I will be back again and again.
When I booked a lunch table on a Sunday, didn't realize the Front Page offered only an expensive brunch and a very limited regular dining menu. Having both eaten breakfast, we considered leaving. In the end, we both ordered crab cakes and assessed them as OK. In the middle of the pack in terms of cakes we've eaten in the DC area. It's a medium priced restaurant with medium dining options, medium service, and medium crabcakes. Sometimes it's good to know and be exactly what you are. That's the Front Page, the Goldilocks of restaurants.
Went for Sunday brunch. Some nice items but some were just fair. Roast beef at carving station was overcooked and did not have much flavor. Two people in our party had the Delmarva Benedict and said it was great. Next time we'll skip the brunch and order a la carte instead.
My family went to the Front Page for father's day brunch. The food was generally good although the roast beef and the pork loin were a bit over cooked for my taste. Likewise the spread had a fair amount of variety including breads, smoked salmon, a variety of fruit, waffles, and an omelete station. The only drawback I noticed was the substantial line at the omelete station due to the space constraints of the restaurant. Good place for a relatively affordable brunch.
This was the Mother's day buffet. The selection was poor although the food was good. For $25, there was very little to choose from. Standard food staples such as rice or some sort of seafood were absent. We were seated outside the restaurant (indoors but in the building's lobby). The buffet table was also there. I don't think the restaurant lends itself for a buffet style event. The hostess seemed to have "something" for mom but that never occurred. Remember, it was mother's day and many places do give something to mom!
The food was delicious. The tomato/Mozzarella/lettuce? or basil was strange. The syrup was in an odd location, near the belgian waffles, but not near the pancakes, waffles, and french toast. My mother said the omelet was amazing. The sausage was outstanding.
There brunch buffet was one of the better ones I have had. The food was all amazingly yummy and they had $1 mimosas and a bloody mary bar for $5. If you don't want to spend the $18.95 for the buffet even though it's totally worth it, they have an inexpensive a la carte menu. We will definately go back to this great place.
The food was very good and the price was reasonable. There were three in our party and the staff got us seated for our 1:30 reservation quickly. Unforetunately due to great weather, there were no tables available outside that day. Our waiter wasefficient and attentive. The only issues we had were; they ran out of plates and more needed to be requested, and what ever desserts they may have had, they ran out of also.
The food was good, but the service was just fair/poor. While our waiter was fine, the other waiters were not helpful. We were sitting near the buffet and overheard one of the waiters use the F word. We also witnessed this same waiter eating from the buffet before it was shut down. I never saw a manager or anyone that appeared to be in charge. Also, our waiter dropped off the check and then just disappeared. When we asked another waiter to grab him for us, he commented "I am not your waiter". When we left the resataurant we observed a couple that had been waiting at the hostess stand for quite awhile. Although there were several workers in the area, no one ever bothered to stop to seat them. I don't plan to return to this restaurant.
