Brunch was fantastic, Home made donuts delicious. Food was great, were able to take our time and catch up. Will go again. It was nice to be able to make a reservation
I thought the food and service was great , although my partner had eggs and he did not feel they were cooked enough for him, he did not tell the waitress so not your fault. We did do 3 donuts, yummy!
The menu is nice, options for every taste. The specialty drinks are out of this world...wonderfully crafted with fresh ingredients. The staff are friendly and the service was fast.
8 of us Had a great time for our friends retirement gathering. Food was delicious, atmosphere was fun, one of us said the music was kinda loud during dinner, one of us (me) was very pleased to realize it was Don Campbell singing!:). It is loud regardless of music to hear in a big group setting, but then that might be just me??
Was very pleased for the surprise special dessert for the retiree, nice touch!
Great food as always. My wife loves the "John Candy" doughnut as an appetizer. Excellent service, good value.
Great Mother’s Day Brunch
The food is excellent.
Went to meet with friends and hear the band, but was very impressed by the menu and the excellent service. I have described the menu to friends as "foodie comfort food" - interesting takes on old favorites (Shepherd's Pie Crepes, anyone?) and everything made fresh to order. Wait staff offered helpful hints for ordering and made sure that we knew the entrees would take at least 30 minutes due to the fact that they were all freshly prepared. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on live music nights.
Food was amazing, service was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Definitely going to make more appearances
Terrific donuts! Brunch eggs delicious. Very noisy. Every time someone opened the front door, a blast of wind made the seats near the bar quite chilly (needed to eat wearing my coat).
Very friendly service and good food.
The best part about the Frog & Turtle is usually the drinks! I had a glass of old vine Zinfandel that was very good and the lemon meringue martini for dessert, which tasted just like the pie! Burgers were also good, if not a challenge to eat. The weird part of the dinner was when my water glass worked it’s own way off the table and shattered on the floor! The same thing happened at another table! They might want to think about drink napkins or coasters to keep this from happening.
We always have a good time at the F&T. Food was amazing. Service was stellar. It’s just a bit loud sometimes, but you can live with that, because everything else makes up for that.
We love The Frog and Turtle especially for brunch, but I have to say this time we were seated in the back room with what we assumed was a baby shower; and couldn’t even hear each other or our server at the same table. I don’t know it it was the acoustics or what but how noisy it was in that tiny room was way too much. However, another outstanding meal as always and fabulous service. We will be back again and again.
Had the seafood Captains Plate, it had the potential to be very good but was waayyyyy too salty.
Have been here before and totally enjoyed the experience, but Friday night some of the food fell short. There were 6 of us for dinner, a birthday celebration. Appetizers were very good, the mussels fantastic. My grandsons thought their burgers were too charred, one was left half eaten. I was looking forward to my flatbread pizza, it arrived mostly burned(black), inedible! I scraped some of the topping off, but gave up, even that was dry. The server asked if I wanted anything else to replace the flatbread, but by that time decided no, she did deduct the price of the from the bill. I was surprised that the kitchen would send that to the table, it was ruined. Dessert was delicious, chocolate mousse and the creme brulee. Not sure I would go back, need to give it time and more thought.
Exceptional food! Made fresh to order. Local ingredients, local beer, perfection!
Had the pan seared salmon with Brussels sprouts and rice..was very good...salad with cranberries, nuts and goat cheese...was lacking...Rose was lovely and after dinner expressotini was delicious. Band was excellent. We had a great experience..Waiter was knowledgeable, very polite and attentive...Janice Farwell..Westbrook
Incredible staff and delicious food! I will definitely go back again!
Frog & Turtle was my favorite brunch spot in Westbrook until my experience yesterday. With a party of 9, we waited more than 90 minutes to get our food. While I understand they make everything in-house, 90 minutes is an unacceptable wait time at any restaurant. There was no acknowledgement of the delay and no apology either. I am supremely disappointed and will likely not return.
Make a reservation for Sunday brunch...this place is always packed! Food is great and worth a little wait when it's busy and you have to add the homemade, made to order donuts...they are out of this world!
We’re from over an hour north of Westbrook - Went to this place we’ve never heard of to see a friend’s band play, and we will be back! What a perfect night for dinner, drinks & live music! The owner was there & super engaged. Have told several people how great the food is - and even in comparison to Portland restaurants, this place is a contender. I never write reviews, but I am happy to recommend Frog & Turtle!
Having several recommendations from friends, I had high expectations which were exceeded! The staff was great, friendly and prompt. The food.....wow!! I had one of the off menu specials, the swordfish, which was presented paired with scallops and a wonderful light sauce, rice and asparagus which was grilled to perfection. My date opted for the more basic burger, which was anything but basic and cooked perfectly.
The desserts were incredible also. We shared a decadent Girl Scout cookie inspired ice cream cake, the presentation was almost too nice to eat!
During and after our meal we enjoyed music by Pride and Joy, a rock/blues jam band. Great band, fun vibe!
The restaurant has a cozy, upscale neighborhood feel to it.
I'll be back for more soon!!
We had a large party for a birthday brunch, everyone had a fabulous time and we were extremely happy with Everything!
We had heard a lot of good about this restaurant and were very disappointment at the slow, inattentive service. Our table and chairs was partially on carpet and partially on a hardwood floor which a made the table and chair rickety. No great ambiance for date night. My husband ordered the pork loin special which was a generous portion although it was served raw an inedible. The waitress came and only offered to take the meat away to cook it further . In the meantime, his side dishes got cold. The meat was returned and still was not properly cooked, so my husband could not eat it. My dish was a seafood pie on a bed of mashed potato and spinach. They skimped on all ingredients although were very generous with the sauce. There was no offer to make any amends which was disappointing. We were very anxious to leave and alas, could not as the credit card machine malfunctioned.
As always, great food, great staff, and a great time
Went here for my birthday last year and again recently for St Patrick's Day! Loved the food (all local foods) and the service was great!
Absolutely awesome every time
Always an amazing meal. We had lots of leftovers to bring home but they didn't last long.😊
Food is excellent, hot and fresh. Cocktails are intriguing and fun. The staff is friendly and accommodating without being overbearing. It's a cozy, cute place.
My wife and I decided to give it a go, and we are so glad that we did.
We recommend getting a reservation as this is a popular spot and folks were being turned away, maybe as it was a Saturday evening, but a good idea anyway if you have time to plan ahead.
To begin, I had the mussel appetizer, she had the greens, and they were both beyond expectation.
We decided on the N.Y. Strip, hers as med-well and mine as medium(always).
They were both cooked just right and the flavors were exquisite.
Thank you for such a wonderfully “Gastric” experience.
We shall return.
Another great meal. James and his staff are great. I little loud this time but not bad. Returning customers who will continue returning!
Been here 5 times now and I've been very satisfied every time
Great evening spent at the frog and turtle. Got the special 4 course menu timing was perfect , had a very nice table and really enjoyed the live music
Valentines date with my wife. The food was beyond delicious and very eloquently done. The Valentine Day 5 course dinner special was perfecto. Music and atmosphere was good. It was nice and warm which we enjoy. Table for 2 very nice and sweet waitress who was very attentive. . Always a nice experience at Frog and Turtle. Thank You!
I had a shepherds pie crepe that I am still dreaming about! Depth of taste was so so great.
Totally awesome!! The salads are very fresh with just the right amount of dressing tossed in. The meatloaf was pan fried on top of a bed of macaroni and cheese, placed on top a bed of spinach. My wife had the haddock and the potatoes were hand sliced and fried just right. Can't wait to go again and try another dish. Our server, Emily, I believe, was very nice and gave us the up and up,(food is cooked to order and may take a little extra time.) as this was our first time. The "side room" is a little less noisy, but overall, still very pleasant.
Jimmy always gives a great meal, and at a price that beats the Portland restaurants. Never had anything we didn't like, and never anything that failed to meet our expectations.
The Frog and Turtle is hands down my favorite brunch spot in Greater Portland. Home fries are on point. Eggs Benny is out of this world. Drinks are always delicious. Keep doing what you’re doing!
Great food! Great music , David Good and Jeff Willis, and great service Lucia!
This was our first time at Frog & Turtle. We went with an other couple. Several friends have been before and raved about the daily specials offered. Unfortunately we were quite surprised and disappointed when our server told us there were no special that night. The food we ordered was very good though. The atmosphere is very loud, almost too loud to talk to one another without yelling. We went on a Thursday night and live music was playing. With so many dining options in the greater Portland area I would probably not go again.
