The best service that I have had in years!
Nice decor. Food taste alright.
Very convenient parking
Food was incredible. Service was impeccable. The sommelier’s pairings were perfect. Truly a memorable dining experience for all of the senses!
After dining at the French Room many times over the last 25 years and reading current negative reviews from several web sites, we returned to the newly refitted venue with some skepticism. It was our 23rd Wedding Anniversary. In the end we agreed the dining experience was 8 out of 10. The young staff brought a lot of energy, but we missed the refined service from the past. The food was presented well with very good flavor, but lacked the haute cuisine quality we remembered. The wine pairings needed a little bit of our personal guidance. The room had a slight cafeteria noise level from the clinking of dishes. The décor was smart, but we longed to see the cherubs overhead. In the end, we are nostalgic for the old one, but we embrace the reborn French Room and look forward to it spreading new wings.
excellent food, wine and service
An amazing night as usual with this establishment. Gillian was perfect for our experience. Wouldn’t hesitate for a repeat performance.
I had not been at the French Room for the last 3 or 4 years and had always been impressed by the food and the service. This time I was really disappointed. The service people were fake, no sommelier, the food presentation was fine but the taste and quality was not there.
I brought my new wife to give her a great experience, she called the food "junk"... sad.
Though this had been my favorite restaurant in the past, unfortunately, I will not go back.
Amazing fine dining experience. The service was impeccable, led by Leslie who was the table captain and sommelier. We ordered the tasting menu and each course was perfectly timed, perfect temperature, and amazing flavor. The decor was beautiful and we also got a special menu to take home commemorating my birthday. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
-New decor very bland/sterile.
-Food was average at best.
-Price/value very poor
-Only two other tables were filled..... seemed like a grave yard.
-Wait Staff very courteous and attentive
I have dined there more ten times. I do not plan to return...... A shame.
It’s not what it used to be unfortunately. Food was just okay if you were at a diner. Time between courses was too long. Price would have been acceptable if food was great.
We have been many times before but won’t go back.
Our waiter was inexperienced and showed it. I have always wanted to dine at the French Room. I was told that unless everyone had the tasting menu I could not. I’m so sorry my 70th birthday was spent in this very disappointing manner.
Do not like the changes made to the room. The food was good but only one option for me to eat. Way too expensive.
It was an amazing dinner. We had the 7 course tasting menu with the premium wine pairing and it did not disappoint. from the seared foie gras to the perfectly cooked Grand Marnier Souffle it was all delicious. NOTE: the $$ is legit.
Greeted like we were VIPs. Food was outstanding. And service unrivaled. About as close to perfect as any restaurant I have ever visited. Prices relatively reasonable given what you get. Highly recommend.
Excellent impeccable service. Other restaurants should take note. The food was excellent. I suppose the only weak spot were the entrees we chose. I’ll be honest and to the point...... everything up til then (appetizers) was impressive but the two entrees we chose were , simply put, lackluster and not the climactic point I was hoping for. The wagyu? beef was ok but didn’t seem that fresh off the grill to me, seasoning was not anything impressive. My fish as well didn’t seem to be all that fresh and definitely lacked any character. In fact it was simply not good. Fishy, dry and tasteless.
I loved dining here! Our waitress was incredible and answered every single question about the menu. We ordered the truffle risotto that was to die for. I’m definitely dining here again.
Service not up to previous French Room standards. Staff tried very hard but need fine tuning by someone knowledgeable. Big effort at mirrored service. Carts? Not necessary and got in the way. Plates not hitting the table at the same time and then not in the correct position. For the price I expected more.
Great from the reservation on through desert!! Celebrated wedding anniversary and all was great!!! We will be back!
Oh, I'm so disappointed. I've been to the French Room in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. The restaurant has been closed for the past year for remodeling and I was looking forward to visiting this classic Dallas restaurant, unfortunately I should have just saved my money. I ordered the Long Island snails for the first course and found them rubbery and way over cooked. We also went ahead and had the Truffle Risotto. The risotto was great and the waiter provided a generous portion of black truffle slices. This turned out to be the high point of the meal. The next course was the Stuffed Saddle of Lamb that tasted like it was smoked and had the flavor of ham. Unfortunately the Lamb had a lot of gristle. The Third course was the Mango Souffle. As usual the souffle was perfect but I didn't care for the mango and egg mixture.
As usual the French Room has a great wine selection, but I found very few reasonably priced selections. The wine I did chose, with the help of the sommelier, turn out to great and just as she described it.
As if the food wasn't disappointing enough the wait staff was not very attentive. Several times I had to ask to have my water glass refilled. At one point during the diner I got so tired of waiting to have my wine glass refilled so I just got up, picked up my bottle and poured it my self. So much for an attentive wait staff. (And no they were not busy at the time).
In summary, the French Room lost much during it's long absence. They have a long way to go to return to their glory days of the past. I definitely will not be returning in the near future or recommending them.
Mr Rojas the general manager was a wonderful host. He has a superb staff. The service was impeccable. The seven course with wine pairing is a special dining experience. Wonderful service and food.
This was the most wonderful dining experience of my life. The food was incredible and h service beyond compare.
The restaurant is beautiful , but does not feel cozy and intimate whatsoever. The room was totally light almost like dining outside for lunch. The prices are outrageously expensive and the portion sizes are very small. The food was very good however. The service was impeccable. Each staff member was very attentive and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, because of all the aforementioned, I will not be returning.
just reopened. may need time to achieve former level of excellence
Since remodeling, it's a truly great, high-end venue in Dallas. Service was great and staff was knowledgeable. Truly enjoyed the experience for a special treat meal!
Disappointed that the experience couldn't live up to the beauty of this place. Waited 30+ for our reservation and another 5 to even be acknowledged at our table. They did send champagne to the bar and apologize, but we didn't feel these actions justified the severely unmet reservation commitment for a $1,000 dinner. Once we sat down the service improved and the staff was very kind, but it was hard to come back from such a disappointing start to the evening. Tasting menu was ok but the three course looked better. The couple we dined with has eaten at Michelin star restaurants all over the world and was eager to share this experience with their network since this caliber of restaurant is rare in Texas. Unfortunately none of us will be recommending The French Room.
One of the most underrated restaurants in the country. Impeccable service, meticulously planned menu and one of the finest wine lists I’ve ever seen make it an incredible dining experience. It is my favorite restaurant in the world, and I’d travel to Dallas just to eat here.
The French Room did not disappoint. All of our expectations were met for a fabulous evening in an amazing setting, taking me personally back to the elegant decor of the castles I visited throughout Spain as a child.
The food was excellent and the staff were extremely attentive. At one point my clutch slipped to the floor and before I could pick it up the wait staff brought a small table to place it on next to
me during our meal.
Our head wait person Connie was exceptionally knowledgeable and courteous. She was a pure delight to be around, very jovial and attentive and she made the evening extra special for my date and I.
The French Room is a true gem and I recommend it to anyone visiting the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
The best dining experience in Dallas! Recently updated, bright and refreshing but keeping it's old world charm. The food was both prepared and presented second to none. The staff is amazing and make every thing they do feel like it's catered to only you. They made our whole dining experience a total pleasure!
The French Room is an absolute jewel! The food, presentation, staff were all fantastic. The remodeled room was beautifully done. We will definitely be back!
The table had the tasting menu along with wine pairings. The food was outstanding. Very creative. The wine pairings were excellent. The service was flawless. It was a wonderful experience.
They have ruined what was once a Dallas treasure. It is a schizophrenic decor debacle with unimaginative food, no sides, miniature portions, and a staff wearing uniforms two sizes two small. We were so disappointed as we loved the former version of the French Room.
My overall experience was great. I will be back in the future.
The staff was amazing. Very attentive. We were given champagne when we were seated to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing. We both got the tasting menu. It was very culinary and beautifully presented. The food was bought and a leisurely pace. Our dinner took 3 hours. Which was perfect. The room is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special event. It was very expensive but we enjoyed every minute.
Always love going to this restaurant! Top notch food and service!!! 😊
We loved the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was interesting, fun, tasty and the wines were spectacular. The wine pours were even hefty. It was a memorable time.
The service was great. However, my meal was over salted & overall food quality was truly disappointing.
Great service and food. They serve all their wine at the appropriate temperature!
We thought that the food was going to be as great as, for example the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the food was salty for the most part and some of the servers looked frantic and lost at times. Not what we were expecting for a top French Restaurant.
A Shadow of the old French Room. Celebrated Anniversary here over 20 years. Very disappointed with the new French Room. Food, service and atmosphere not close what it used to be. Sad to see the Dallas Landmark change to a very average restaurant. We’ll be looking for a new place to celebrate. Very Sad!!
The renovated French Room is more of an experience than a meal. Impeccable service, incredibly rich 7 course French meal in a (new) old school Dallas institution. Diners are an interesting mix of date nighters, old-money regulars and older doctors with their young girlfriends. We loved both the food and the people watching.
Superb service! A decadent night out that we will remember for a long time.
