We loved the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was interesting, fun, tasty and the wines were spectacular. The wine pours were even hefty. It was a memorable time.

We thought that the food was going to be as great as, for example the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the food was salty for the most part and some of the servers looked frantic and lost at times. Not what we were expecting for a top French Restaurant.

A Shadow of the old French Room. Celebrated Anniversary here over 20 years. Very disappointed with the new French Room. Food, service and atmosphere not close what it used to be. Sad to see the Dallas Landmark change to a very average restaurant. We’ll be looking for a new place to celebrate. Very Sad!!

The renovated French Room is more of an experience than a meal. Impeccable service, incredibly rich 7 course French meal in a (new) old school Dallas institution. Diners are an interesting mix of date nighters, old-money regulars and older doctors with their young girlfriends. We loved both the food and the people watching.

We went to the French Room for my wife's 40th. It was an immensely enjoyable experience. Service was top notch. Food was excellent. Ambiance was perfect.

The only thing that was subpar was the souffle (mango?). It was too sweet. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Wonderfully romantic evening at one of our favorite restaurants in the US.
We both had the tasting menu and enjoyed every bite. Loved the addition of fresh flowers and live piano music.
Service was excellent and unobtrusive.
Sommelier was friendly and had excellent suggestions.
Can't wait to return.

This was a special Wedding Anniversary occasion that exceeded my expectations. The French Room was ready for my wife and I with a personalized printed menu that acknowledged and celebrated our Anniversary. We were given special seating and the service was exceptional. They all made us feel very special and were attentive to our every need. We hightly recommend The French Room for a special, memorable occasion. Would also recommend staying the night at the Historical Adolphus Hotel. That rounded out a wonderful experience for us!

Went to try the refurbished French Room. Compared to the "old" room, the visit was a complete letdown. Gone is the décor that made the place so special - all has been wiped clean with ivory-colored paint and fabric. No remaining awesome ceiling paintings, gilded everything, huge pot of fresh flowers in the center. The wait staff is no longer allowed to place your napkin in your lap when you first sit down. They wear all gray suits with open shirt collars; no more black and white with ties. The whole experience reflects a new philosophy of ambience and service, more modern and youthful, but without the charm of the past. The menu is entirely new, and the food was great. But I miss the charm...

We have always celebrated special occasions at the French Room! I had my wedding reception in the Grand Ball Room 37 years ago! We love the French Room and were very disappointed last Saturday night. The food was ok. The minute I entered the room, something didn’t feel right. It used to make you feel so special! It seemed so sterile this visit. The waiters have to push around a tackie white cart with wheels that seem to “fight each other”! The is not the French Room experience I remember. You don’t know how sad it made my husband and I feel. Sorry, I doubt we will be back

Terrific service from staff. Lacking was the quality of the food.
Ordered the 7 course tasting menu and two of the items were great, 4 were Ok.
The main course which was duck was so undercooked that it became difficult to chew.
Wine service was very good.
Terrible situation for a great staff with at best a moderate chef.

we had an excellent experience at the French room. we had the seven course tasting menu supplemented with black truffles for one course and white truffles for another course. we also had a half-bottle of krug champagne, a half-bottle of puligny-Montrachet and a half-bottle of Pontet-canet. we also had a sweet wine from the loire valley with our foie gras. it was an exceptional evening. more particularly, it was an exceptional evening for dallas. my wife and I recommend it highly. this is a unique institution for dallas.

My family from outside Dallas has stayed at the Adolphus since almost the year of the hotel's construction. I have the 1924 book "Norfleet", part of which takes place in the Adolphus. Personally I remember the Century Room with its floor show on ice back in the early 1950's. I identify with the Adolphus when the intersection of Commerce and Akard was the center of the world in Dallas for New Year's Eve and Texas/OU weekends. I returned to the French Room tonight. I wondered about the French Room since the hotel remodelinlg. It was a beautiful culinary experience. Each course was memorable and delicious. A 3 course or 5 course dinner was available. Portions were real creations and tasty and more than just tiny. My fish was outstanding. The service was pleasant and the waiter knew her menu well. The decor was regal without being stuffy or busy. Aside from the French Room, the bar was well appointed and welcoming, as was the remodeled hotel lobby. It's not just a remodeling. It's a recreation. Every thing was so fine without being overdone. I'll be back, not every night of course. It's a special place. But I'll be back at the next opportunity.

Miss the Frescos on the ceiling. Feels like I am eating in a amped up stuffy hospital setting. Service has gone downhill since before the remodel. They used to be right there when you needed something, now you have to flag down your server. For some reason they push around these little carts, which really distracts from the level of services expected and atmosphere. Food was ok, but not to the standard of the past before the remodel. They just do t have the 5 Star quality like before. Better off going to Stephen Pyle’s new place for top quality service and food. We will try it again, but will give them 6-12 months to fix their issues before we do.

We have been coming to the Adolphus and the French room for 20+ years.

Well, since the recent remodel and Marriott taking over we think overall things have gone downhill somewhat.

The THREE COURSE PRIX FIXE menu had very limited choices. Too much of the French touch
for us. Seemed the menu was a little pretentious. And the 100 page wine book, wow.
Ninety percent of the wines we had never heard of and the prices were quite a bit higher
than before Marriott took over.

The food at The French Room was outstanding. As a long-time French Room diner, the atmosphere was not the same. However, the new décor is stunning, contemporary, and clean. The old world feeling and elegance is gone. While the website says coats for men are required, there we several in the restaurant in golf-style shirts. The hostess had to ask our names twice, which was never the case in previous years. The service was "spotty" at best. While the waiters were wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable, it was one hour after we were seated before the first food (other than two "stuffed button tomatoes) were delivered. Once the meal was brought, the presentation was outstanding and the food was more than outstanding.
Overall we enjoyed the evening, but The French Room has become another hotel dinning room, although a very good one.

The best meal and service I’ve had in Dallas in years. Made me think back to the first years of the Dean Fearing Mansion. Not a single detail was overlooked, including my name at the top of our table menus as it was my birthday. My husband had sticker shock, but I feel it was worth every penny.

Been brought up in Paris-France I can truly tell you that you definitely have to check out this restaurant. From the time we were greeted by the hostess to they time we left, we had an extraordinary night.
It was splendid to see the front of the house in action, we experienced an organized symphony in action.
The chef has impeccable French skills that show on the menu and on the food itself! The food represents La France of today. The evolution of French cuisine has been brought to Dallas and I am very proud to say so!
To everyone that had a saying on the renovation of the French Room and to all of you who work there, I have one word for you, BRAVO!!!

The French Room has been my go to place for birthdays and special occasions since 1985. I was put out to have to miss dining there on a "big" birthday last summer, and a little worried that it would not be as nice after the 16 months of renovation. I am happy to report that it is still an exquisite dining experience. It is different, the dining room looks more spare than before. It used to be comfortingly opulent, now it is more classical, instead of baroque. The staff is all new and different, much younger. But the food is divine and the service is superb, and they still treat me like an A lister;-) Will definitely be returning for the next big occasion. Bravo French Room.

There has been something lost with the renovation of the French Room. Tries to be too chic in an establishment that was legendary and classic. Sad to see it pass. The food was very good however much too restrictive, no choice and no soufflés.

The French Room has changed considerably since our last visit two years ago. The restaurant has been remodeled into a more modern style and the old guard who served us so perfectly is gone. On our previous visits, we always chose the Chef's Tasting Menu, a five course meal with a wine chosen to complement each course. Last time, we paid $155 per person. For our current visit, we had a choice of the Chef's Tasting Menu, and also the Holiday Tasting Menu at a considerable upcharge. Both are now seven course meals, at a cost of $195 for the Holiday Tasting Menu and $135 for the wine service. We were very pleased with the food, the wine choices, the service, but the cost is now so high we'll have to consider other alternative.

For this visit, the two most memorable courses were the foie gras, grilled to perfection; it literally melted in my mouth, an entirely unexpected treat. The other course was Texas Wagyu beef, with short rib, and gingerbread. Unbelievably tasty.

We had not been to the French room in a few years. The food and service were excellent. It is back to being the best French restaurant in Dallas since Bijoux closed. We loved the new, more modern decor(it had been overdue for an update) and the more laid back dress code(jacket but tie not required). I think all the people griping about the changes are the 80 year olds that used to go. We loved it and will be back. Price wise, I felt it was a great value. We got the full Holiday tasting menu for $135 pp. Of course, the best French restaurant in DFW will be pricy...DUH??

The French Room should be exceptional in all respects for the price. It is not! We were very excited to try the "new" French Room as we had fond memories of the "old" French Room. Unfortunately, only the wine service was excellent. The food which should have been the star at $135 per person for the tasting menu was only average and simply not that interesting. A few of the courses were also not as hot as they should have been. Very disappointing. The service was also not what it should be for a restaurant at that price point. It was inconsistent as well. This too was disappointing. Overall it was not even close to the experience of other fine dining restaurants in Dallas which are far less expensive.
