Mr Rojas the general manager was a wonderful host. He has a superb staff. The service was impeccable. The seven course with wine pairing is a special dining experience. Wonderful service and food.
This was the most wonderful dining experience of my life. The food was incredible and h service beyond compare.
just reopened. may need time to achieve former level of excellence
Since remodeling, it's a truly great, high-end venue in Dallas. Service was great and staff was knowledgeable. Truly enjoyed the experience for a special treat meal!
Disappointed that the experience couldn't live up to the beauty of this place. Waited 30+ for our reservation and another 5 to even be acknowledged at our table. They did send champagne to the bar and apologize, but we didn't feel these actions justified the severely unmet reservation commitment for a $1,000 dinner. Once we sat down the service improved and the staff was very kind, but it was hard to come back from such a disappointing start to the evening. Tasting menu was ok but the three course looked better. The couple we dined with has eaten at Michelin star restaurants all over the world and was eager to share this experience with their network since this caliber of restaurant is rare in Texas. Unfortunately none of us will be recommending The French Room.
One of the most underrated restaurants in the country. Impeccable service, meticulously planned menu and one of the finest wine lists I’ve ever seen make it an incredible dining experience. It is my favorite restaurant in the world, and I’d travel to Dallas just to eat here.
The French Room did not disappoint. All of our expectations were met for a fabulous evening in an amazing setting, taking me personally back to the elegant decor of the castles I visited throughout Spain as a child.
The food was excellent and the staff were extremely attentive. At one point my clutch slipped to the floor and before I could pick it up the wait staff brought a small table to place it on next to
me during our meal.
Our head wait person Connie was exceptionally knowledgeable and courteous. She was a pure delight to be around, very jovial and attentive and she made the evening extra special for my date and I.
The French Room is a true gem and I recommend it to anyone visiting the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
The best dining experience in Dallas! Recently updated, bright and refreshing but keeping it's old world charm. The food was both prepared and presented second to none. The staff is amazing and make every thing they do feel like it's catered to only you. They made our whole dining experience a total pleasure!
The French Room is an absolute jewel! The food, presentation, staff were all fantastic. The remodeled room was beautifully done. We will definitely be back!
The table had the tasting menu along with wine pairings. The food was outstanding. Very creative. The wine pairings were excellent. The service was flawless. It was a wonderful experience.
They have ruined what was once a Dallas treasure. It is a schizophrenic decor debacle with unimaginative food, no sides, miniature portions, and a staff wearing uniforms two sizes two small. We were so disappointed as we loved the former version of the French Room.
My overall experience was great. I will be back in the future.
The staff was amazing. Very attentive. We were given champagne when we were seated to celebrate our anniversary. The food was amazing. We both got the tasting menu. It was very culinary and beautifully presented. The food was bought and a leisurely pace. Our dinner took 3 hours. Which was perfect. The room is absolutely beautiful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special event. It was very expensive but we enjoyed every minute.
Always love going to this restaurant! Top notch food and service!!! 😊
We loved the chef’s tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was interesting, fun, tasty and the wines were spectacular. The wine pours were even hefty. It was a memorable time.
The service was great. However, my meal was over salted & overall food quality was truly disappointing.
Great service and food. They serve all their wine at the appropriate temperature!
We thought that the food was going to be as great as, for example the Eiffel Tower Restaurant in Las Vegas. Unfortunately the food was salty for the most part and some of the servers looked frantic and lost at times. Not what we were expecting for a top French Restaurant.
A Shadow of the old French Room. Celebrated Anniversary here over 20 years. Very disappointed with the new French Room. Food, service and atmosphere not close what it used to be. Sad to see the Dallas Landmark change to a very average restaurant. We’ll be looking for a new place to celebrate. Very Sad!!
The renovated French Room is more of an experience than a meal. Impeccable service, incredibly rich 7 course French meal in a (new) old school Dallas institution. Diners are an interesting mix of date nighters, old-money regulars and older doctors with their young girlfriends. We loved both the food and the people watching.
Superb service! A decadent night out that we will remember for a long time.
We went to the French Room for my wife's 40th. It was an immensely enjoyable experience. Service was top notch. Food was excellent. Ambiance was perfect.
The only thing that was subpar was the souffle (mango?). It was too sweet. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Wonderfully romantic evening at one of our favorite restaurants in the US.
We both had the tasting menu and enjoyed every bite. Loved the addition of fresh flowers and live piano music.
Service was excellent and unobtrusive.
Sommelier was friendly and had excellent suggestions.
Can't wait to return.
Superb food, wine pairings and service.
This was a special Wedding Anniversary occasion that exceeded my expectations. The French Room was ready for my wife and I with a personalized printed menu that acknowledged and celebrated our Anniversary. We were given special seating and the service was exceptional. They all made us feel very special and were attentive to our every need. We hightly recommend The French Room for a special, memorable occasion. Would also recommend staying the night at the Historical Adolphus Hotel. That rounded out a wonderful experience for us!
Exceptional Service along with Incredible food. Spent over 2 hours enjoying top shelf wine and delicious French cuisine.
The chef and staff are to be commended for excellent service, delicious food and the most outstanding ambiance in Dallas. Thank you for making our anniversary so special.
Went to try the refurbished French Room. Compared to the "old" room, the visit was a complete letdown. Gone is the décor that made the place so special - all has been wiped clean with ivory-colored paint and fabric. No remaining awesome ceiling paintings, gilded everything, huge pot of fresh flowers in the center. The wait staff is no longer allowed to place your napkin in your lap when you first sit down. They wear all gray suits with open shirt collars; no more black and white with ties. The whole experience reflects a new philosophy of ambience and service, more modern and youthful, but without the charm of the past. The menu is entirely new, and the food was great. But I miss the charm...
Very nice atmosphere, delicious food, quiet and fun.
We have always celebrated special occasions at the French Room! I had my wedding reception in the Grand Ball Room 37 years ago! We love the French Room and were very disappointed last Saturday night. The food was ok. The minute I entered the room, something didn’t feel right. It used to make you feel so special! It seemed so sterile this visit. The waiters have to push around a tackie white cart with wheels that seem to “fight each other”! The is not the French Room experience I remember. You don’t know how sad it made my husband and I feel. Sorry, I doubt we will be back
This place has amazing food and service!
The food was a bit less than average but presented to look much better
The steak had been partially cooked ahead of time A horrid thing to do to good beef.
Terrific service from staff. Lacking was the quality of the food.
Ordered the 7 course tasting menu and two of the items were great, 4 were Ok.
The main course which was duck was so undercooked that it became difficult to chew.
Wine service was very good.
Terrible situation for a great staff with at best a moderate chef.
we had an excellent experience at the French room. we had the seven course tasting menu supplemented with black truffles for one course and white truffles for another course. we also had a half-bottle of krug champagne, a half-bottle of puligny-Montrachet and a half-bottle of Pontet-canet. we also had a sweet wine from the loire valley with our foie gras. it was an exceptional evening. more particularly, it was an exceptional evening for dallas. my wife and I recommend it highly. this is a unique institution for dallas.
A delicious and special meal - absolutely outstanding foie gras appetizer and tuna main course. Unobtrusive but excellent service.
Exceeded my expectations. Wonderful service and all around a delightful experience. Food was great too. Will return!
My family from outside Dallas has stayed at the Adolphus since almost the year of the hotel's construction. I have the 1924 book "Norfleet", part of which takes place in the Adolphus. Personally I remember the Century Room with its floor show on ice back in the early 1950's. I identify with the Adolphus when the intersection of Commerce and Akard was the center of the world in Dallas for New Year's Eve and Texas/OU weekends. I returned to the French Room tonight. I wondered about the French Room since the hotel remodelinlg. It was a beautiful culinary experience. Each course was memorable and delicious. A 3 course or 5 course dinner was available. Portions were real creations and tasty and more than just tiny. My fish was outstanding. The service was pleasant and the waiter knew her menu well. The decor was regal without being stuffy or busy. Aside from the French Room, the bar was well appointed and welcoming, as was the remodeled hotel lobby. It's not just a remodeling. It's a recreation. Every thing was so fine without being overdone. I'll be back, not every night of course. It's a special place. But I'll be back at the next opportunity.
Miss the Frescos on the ceiling. Feels like I am eating in a amped up stuffy hospital setting. Service has gone downhill since before the remodel. They used to be right there when you needed something, now you have to flag down your server. For some reason they push around these little carts, which really distracts from the level of services expected and atmosphere. Food was ok, but not to the standard of the past before the remodel. They just do t have the 5 Star quality like before. Better off going to Stephen Pyle’s new place for top quality service and food. We will try it again, but will give them 6-12 months to fix their issues before we do.
We have been coming to the Adolphus and the French room for 20+ years.
Well, since the recent remodel and Marriott taking over we think overall things have gone downhill somewhat.
The THREE COURSE PRIX FIXE menu had very limited choices. Too much of the French touch
for us. Seemed the menu was a little pretentious. And the 100 page wine book, wow.
Ninety percent of the wines we had never heard of and the prices were quite a bit higher
than before Marriott took over.
