Amazing service and staff, very attentive and great pacing of food from one course to another
I don't know what the bad reviews were about. The first wine we selected was available, the service was impeccable, the staff friendly and courteous, and the food delicious and perfectly portioned. The scallops could have been fresher but being we were in the mountains in the middle of nowhere that is understandable.
Food was great, my complements to the chef and all staff
Service was superb.
Stayed overnight and enjoyed spa treatments with my sister Dover decided to try the dining room for dinner and so glad we did! Excellent service food and ambiance get your reservation early they book up quickly. Highly recommend this for fine dining! Enjoy
We visit the French Manor every year at this time. We have never been disappointed and just love it there!
I don’t know where the bad reviews come from. This place was incredible, professional, and very service orientated. Some of these reviews complain of things that are so petty. I didn’t experience anything but great food and service. Had the mussels and my wife had scallops. Both great. if you think it was expensive, you don’t appreciate fine service. This isn’t a doggie bag place. The food is proportional to an average meal and I’ll trade quality for quantity any day. Even enjoyed desert which I never do. High recommendation.
Wonderful place and the filet was the best I have had in many years
Quite elegant. Isaac, great server
We had a reservation to stay overnight at the French Manor and decided to enjoy dinner at the restaurant. It met and surpassed every expectation. The service was impeccable, the food was wonderful and the atmosphere was exactly what you would want for a romantic night out. We would definitely return.
We had been to the French Manor twice last winter, first time it was very good, second time not so much. We decided to give it another try this winter but again we were very disappointed. I had to order three different bottles of wine, because they were sold out on each one I ordered. In the end we asked our waiter to just tell us what she did have in stock as it seemed nothing on the wine list was indeed available. By the time we got through finding a wine our first course had already arrived, thus we had to start eating while she went and got the wine. Then we had to ask for proper red wine glasses as the ones they had on the tables were too small to really enjoy a wine. The food also was not what we expected. Our main courses were not up to what we expected. My wife ordered a lobster thermidor and what came out was a tiny overcooked lobster tail with no semblance at all to the way a lobster thermidor is usually prepared. I ordered the special (duck confit) and it was dry and over cooked.
In my opinion, the service was lacking, the wine list was not up to date and the food did not impress.
We gave it its last chance, will not be back.
One of our favorite places for a special occasion: wife’s birthday. Our waitress, Shannon, was very personable and attentive. With the snowstorm outside, our table by the fireplace was perfect. Excellent food, ambiance and service.
This is one of the worst dinners I've ever had. Entrees are 50$ per plate. The sauce for duck l'orange tastes like they opened a bottle of A1 steak sauce. Halibut must have been caught a week ago because I could smell the fishiness from across the table. I ended up having French onion soup as a main as I was frightened by the prices- and it was also a mistake. The soup looked and tasted like beef gravy.
This food quality is poor and overpriced. Did I mention the first four bottles of wine we ordered were not available.
I don't know what else to say, and why anyone would come back.
The food was simply delicious, gorgeous building and atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly staff. We will definitely be coming back again!!
For the price the service was lacking. Ordered wine and asked to have it there for main course. Did not come and when prompted revealed the bottle was not available. Ordered alternative white and it came to table warm not chilled. Server was generally inattentive and twice needed to be prompted to bring milk not cream for coffee. If they are selling the complete experience we did not have it. Food fine. Cannot understand how it got four diamonds given the service.
The French Manor is a lovely getaway tucked away in the Poconos. The dining is outstanding and the service by the innkeepers and servers is friendly and hospitable. The dining room atmosphere is especially charming with country French décor and a lofty fireplace you will not forget. We did not indulge in the spa services this visit but plan to do so next time around. An absolutely delightful getaway.
Excellent service and outstanding food. Absolutely worth the price and can't wait to return.
The French Manor was grand and cozy. Our romantic dinner was amazing! The hostess was excellent, the scallops and duck dishes were heavenly, with the flavors in both dishes meshing quite nicely. This was honestly the most delicious dinner I've ever had. We especially loved the amuse bouche and the champagne sorbet to cleanse our pallettes, which were both free of charge. We also enjoyed the snail appetizer. The only reason I gave four stars is because of our server. While very nice and well-meaning, it seemed he was not as knowledgeable about the specials. He did, however, double check with us about our allergies and was very prompt in his responses after talking with the chef about how to modify a couple of the dishes for our milk allergy.
Food was delicious from appetizers to dessert. Service was very good but my birthday was not acknowledged even though it was advised with our reservation, thus the less-than-perfect rating.
The manor is a beautiful building, with spectacular views. The food and service was excellent, we had a lovely evening. I would definitely recommend the French Manor, and look forward to having diner there again.
My husband and I recently moved to nep. We were really excited about celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary with an indulgent dinner at the very beautiful French manor. The restaurant was aware that it was our anniversary. We arrived about 30 minutes prior to our reservation to have drinks on the gorgeous stone veranda. We had to wait 20 minutes to order our drinks, and I had to go inside to ask. The bar tender was needed to tend to the 4 seated tables prior to us. Ok. Finally got the drinks and they were good. We were seated inside in the lovely room with two fireplaces. No bread for 20minutes and again, had to ask several times. Seems as tho they were still baking it, as said by the waiter. Not kidding!!The onion soup had a dark, heavy broth and, for $14, was more of a cup size than a bowl size. My husband had the duck and I had the scallops. Delicious. Dessert was a frozen and unimpressive baked Alaska. No candle or anniversary recognition. The physical place is stunning. The food is mediocre, except for the entree. Drinks only from now on.
We stayed two nights at The French Manor. While this review is in regard to our reserved dinner experience (which has VERY MIXED reviews), I must tell anyone who chooses to stay there that the Breakfasts are gourmet and WONDERFUL. However, our experience at dinner was so very disappointing. I order the Wagyu steak. I was told that it is highly marbled and my meal would be $157.00. I said go for it....however, when the steak arrived, it was not highly marbled; it was 90% or more fat, to the point that I could not find a piece of actual beef to eat.... I told our server and when the bill came, my meal was $70.00. Unfortunately, my husband's garlic crusted salmon was not to his liking, but he did not mention it to the server and ate his meal. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. So disappointed.
I and my husband both felt that the food was precooked, very disappointed
Wonderful customer service and unique ambiance. The food was authentic French cuisine. We enjoyed our stay.
Didn't know what I was getting into when I booked this place for my anniversary, this place is amazing. Food was superb and the was great.
We have been frequentIng The French Manor for years and the fact that we keep coming back says it all. On this occasion I tried pheasant for the very first time, after my inquiry resulted in a very informed review of the dish by Suzanne ( who was also very knowledgeable about the wine list). Needless to say, I devoured the dish. It was beyond my expectations. My compliments to the chef and to The French Manor!
The French manor was an excellent choice for my wife's birthday dinner. The food was outstanding the service was attentive we sat outside on a beautiful beautiful evening. I would recommend this place to anyone, it is a little pricey but you get what you pay for! I'm going to save up some money and get there again soon !
We went for our anniversary. The outside patio is very nice and they pipe in the piano music played inside. It was a beautiful evening in August and although the inside dining room is beautiful we did not want to waste the chNce to sit outdoors. Although I gave it 5 stars, I still have some complaints that did not ruin or change our experience. I would have liked to sit at a bar before or after dinner to enjoy the piano player. This was asked by many patrons. There is no bar. But they were not busy inside and they let us enjoy our coffee at an inside table to hear the piano music. And we had some difficulty with wine service at the beginning of the night. An uninformed person called their sommelier (far from it). Took forever to get our wine. Wasn't chilled. And never poured it for us the rest of the night. Otherwise very perfect evening.
Chef is a master.
Had a reservation but was sat outside to be eaten alive by mosquitoes (even though indoor tables appeared to be available). Service was oddly rude and very slow on a seemly slow night. Food was ok but there are much better options in the area.
Have been coming here for our anniversary for years. The food is always good but the cost is very expensive. We justify this expense by making it our gift. It's a very romantic place.
A beautiful setting with excellent service. The freshest of ingredients with a Wonderful presentation. Always a delight!
Jackets required SHOULD BE ENFORCED as that is the policy. Keep the upper class atmosphere because that's why people go there! Thomas is an excellent waiter and a pleasure to talk with. All the staff are very accommodating . We LOVE the place. We love Phil P. 👍🏻🍴
The restaurant was amazing. The weather was really nice so we ate outside for all meals. Great view of the valley. The music also provided for great ambience. My wife is already talking about going back. This place is a great getaway.
Also, what was really nice, was the staff did not expect to be tipped for everything. I was able to walk around and not have to carry cash.
We enjoyed the food at French Manor. We dined there for three consecutive nights and breakfasts and the food was delicious every time. The restaurant atmosphere was less formal than suggested. While the wait staff was eager and friendly it was not professionally well trained for finer dining. So much about the place is wonderful , but could be so much better if details to good wait service was implemented. While the place suggests a romantic atmosphere, there was too much background noise from the staff to create this. Also, the same music was played every meal. If a variety of romantic music played for different meals it would enhance the dining experience.
What a pleasant surprise to find we were dining on a beautiful patio with an amazing view of the mountains. Servers were very attentive. We had the filet mignon dinner. Came with sweet potatoes and purple cabbage. The vegetables were a good texture but flavorless as if they were boiled and drained. The meat was good quality but without basic seasoning. I would recommend for ambiance but food was mediocre for food for price. As far as the prices in general they were on par for the suggested gourmet quality food on the menu itself. I don't object to price except for the bland flavors. Very nice place for atmosphere otherwise.
My dinner was delicious but my wife has dietary restrictions and we let them know well ahead of time and she ended up with a plate of sweet potatoes for her meal
We were referred by friends to visit the French Manor Inn. So my wife and I went there for some rest and relaxation. The staff in the spa were very professional and very friendly. Dinner was amazing and the service excellent. It was formal dining but the staff is easy going and personable. Our suite was beautiful and just what we needed for a break from everyday life. I rated the value a 3 because, while the whole experience was outstanding, it came at a high cost. I don't regret one minute of our visit there and will certainly come back.
We were so pleased with the service, ambiance, food and views. We would recommend it highly. It's a little out of the way but well worth the trip. We did not stay there, just went for dinner.
First of all, I really like the French Manor. It is a beautiful building with great rooms and suites and a wonderful dining room. The staff is very friendly and efficient. We have stayed here twice now and it is one of our favorite get-aways. However, the dinner we had this past Sunday was most disappointing, only because the food was not nearly good enough to warrant the very high prices. We started with beet bisque, which I must say was very good. I had Bronzino Étouffé, which was pretty tasteless, and it came with a potato pie sort of thing which was nothing special. There was a brownish walnut side that also had very little taste. My wife had a squab special that was very tough, and it came with 2 limp pieces of asparagus and something that looked and tasted like a large flat tater tot. I do not believe the chef was in the kitchen. These dishes appeared and tasted like they had been reheated and placed on a plate. I hate to give a bad review to an otherwise fantastic place, but when we pay $45-$50 per entree we expect something really special, and this just wasn't.
My husband and I stayed at the French Manor Inn for the weekend. Unfortunately our dinner was the only thing we weren't 100% satisfied with. The food was ok but nothing to rave over. We have had much better meals at The Grille 3501 in Allentown. We are also not sure why they "recommend" that men wear jackets for dinner. They aren't that fancy. We found this totally unnecessary.
Food and service were amazing !
