Always good can't say enough good things about The French Manor
The staff was extremelt friendly and so nice! The view from the terrace is amazing around sunset time and absolutely breathtaking. The music playing is soft and romantic. The food really wasnt great at all, also options for vegetarians were extremely limited and bad tasting. Pricing was overall expensive for the quality. Overall would still recommend just for the amazing view and ambiance- if you eat meat the food probably wont be an issue. The breakfast was amazing however!!
We didnt understand why the waitress didn't take our drink order, kept saying another person would come over, But he took forever and there was only 3 other tables in use when we were there. Then he didn't know enough about the different wines when asked questions. It took 27 minutes before our wine arrived after we were seated. And your website stated that men were to wear jackets to dinner, so we dressed accordingly and a couple came in with shorts and tee shirts and were seated inside. If you have relaxed the rules, please correct your website.
What a great place to eat. Overall a Spectacular place to visit.
Very expensive for the quality of food. The views and ambiance are amazing.
Superb restaurant in a lovely setting. Food and service were fantastic. On the pricier side, so perfect for special occasions
Amazing food, service and surroundings. Beautiful! Highly recommend.
Beautiful ambiance. Good good and great service. Made another reservation to return the next day!
Lovely atmosphere, attentive service and excellent food.
It’s a beautiful place and the ambiance is wonderful. Service was very nice. Food was generally tasty. Watermelon feta salad was not so good. Very small portion and not much of a flavor. My husband had the duck breast and he loved it. I had the salmon special and it was very good too. Our son had the Mer et Terre au Poivre, it was cooked to his preferred temperature, and he likes it medium-well, yet it was still juicy, on a flavorful bed of mashed potatoes.
Cocktails were good and they had a nice wine list.
It’s a must try if you are in the area. Perfect for a special occasion or date night. Our son was the only child at the outdoor dining area and for indoor dining room they recommend to visit with children 12 and up. Something to be aware of.
Live piano music was very nice. They kept playing our son’s favorites.
Wow! What a treat! This was a meal that could stand alongside any of NYC’s finest yet offer such approachable and non-pretentious dishes. The duck nachos were truly sublime and the duck entree even more so. We also had the seafood flatbread which was just loaded with lobster, fish, peppers, and a mango chutney that went so well together. And I had the beef filet which was just mmme! The service also went above and beyond. They made us feel right at home and were so friendly. If I had to say anything bad it would be that the wine list did not include the bottle vintages and our server had to fetch the bottle we were considering to tell us the year. But alas, the bottle was terrific and paired well with our food. Like much of the northeast, we have been deprived of eating out for months so this was such a welcome and wonderful treat and delivered on nearly every level. I’m thinking about bringing my mom there for her 80th birthday in a couple weeks so stay tuned for that review. Bravo!
Always go there. Will always go back. Owners and staff are amazing. Friendly. Classy service.
We were staying at the inn so it was lovely to have such fine dining so close by. We had the crepe special to start (with Brie and strawberry marmalade) and the lobster bisque. Both were very good. The entrees though were the star of the show. I had the short ribs which were tender and flavorful and my boyfriend had a veal chop special that was delicious. The sides of a risotto cake and my bf’s scalloped potatoes were incredible. We had a delicious pear tart for dessert. Service was good but having one person do the drinks for the entire place isn’t the best idea. We waited a while to even order wine. I also tipped on the entire bill in one amount and it was never explained that I needed to leave two tips one for the person serving drinks. They took a second separate gratuity without notifying me and I saw it on my bill the next morning.
All in all the meal was very delicious though!
Beautiful atmosphere throughout the day, starting with lunch by the saltwater pool. Our couples massage was wonderful! Great cocktails before a fabulous dinner
Everything about this place is simply darling! The food was very good but over the top expensive. We drove 2 hours to the Pocono mountains to pay New York City prices:( The experience was very pleasant though... the service was great and ambiance was romantic...
This was our third time dining at the French manor. The ambiance is wonderful, service outstanding and friendly. You feel cared for and special here. Beautiful establishment.
Cancelled cruise vacation due to Coronavirus scare. Spent two night at The French Manor instead. Excellent experience. The food was fantastic.
Amazing Valentine’s Dinner! Food, service and overall atmosphere was very romantic and perfect for fine dining on a special occasion. Would definitely recommend and will dine again!
Our Valentine's celebration was very special, had a lovely dinner in a beautiful setting. Chef did a great job with vegetarian option for my wife and we enjoyed the special cocktails and little gifts they gave to all the women for Valentine's. Great food, wonderful time, will be back for our next celebration.
Great experience- over priced
The quality of the food does not justify the extremely high prices. It started with a run-of-the-mill Manhattan cocktail for $21. I had a short rib for $56 that was full of gristle. We asked about sharing a small bowl of $17 lobster bisque and were told there would be a "plate" charge if we did. Based on the average to below average quality of the food and the extremely high prices we won't eat there again.
Soup was excellent. The chicken was outstanding.
It was my birthday and I was disappointed that the chef didn’t write happy birthday on my dessert plate. Wasn’t anything special even though it was my birthday.
There is an added charge for serving wine over and above the bottle and glass charge. So that was disappointing too.
Room was cold even though the heat was set at 75 and there were 2 fireplaces going. We’ve been here before, however, this time we’ve noticed a change.
They ran out of scallops, and it’s what I ordered. However, the chef didn’t tell the server until she went to order it for me.
Plus, some of the menu Items that are on the open table isn’t what is in the actual menu there. The website menu and prices need to be updated more often.
We are glad we finally made it to The French Manor. The location, while difficult to find, is lovely - and the setting exquisite. The food and food options were great. Wine selection adequate - with good recommendations. Overall, the food and ambiance were good and the service was good - but there was a lack of extra attention. Service details were missing - ensuring we had the proper plates, flatware not needing to be re-used, frequent checking the table to ensure nothing was missing - none of this took place. Considering the price point, I would have expected more of this "pampering." So, overall, loved the place and the food. Considering the price point, the service needs to be taken to the next level.
Food was fantastic, cocktail service was slow. Great place for a special occasion.
Two items on the menu were not available, and we were not informed until the waiter was ready to take our order. Food was good but not worth the exuberant price.
Wonderful meal and great service
We enjoyed an wonderful meal prepared by Executive Chef KeeganMarchand. The portion sizes were just right and the flavors exceptional. You won be disappointed!
I guess when entrees are $50+ our expectations are pretty high. We were disappointed compared to previous years (we’ve come almost annually the past 5 years). We had the foie gras which was tasty but quite small a portion, as was the house salad. We both had the duck which was delicious with a fantastic sauce, but my friend’s was more fat than duck. And the roasted vegetables were so overdone and unappealing. While we love to relax over dinner, 2 1/2 hours with no dessert seemed quite long. After requesting our bill be adjusted, it was. Hope our next visit will be more as great as our previous ones because it is a very beautiful place and the staff does try their best.
My favorite restaurant in Pennsylvania! Sophisticated dining in an historic country mansion. Excellently prepared food served by well trained friendly staff. Soft background music by a pianist. Perfect place to entertain friends or go for family occasions. Patio dining in good weather.
It was a darling place. I can’t say enough for the look and feel. I was not impressed by the chaos when we arrived - seemed like the staff was not prepared for us and had us wait as they gathered their thoughts and tended to a table recently seated. I was asked to wait as they sorted through it. Then I was seated with my hubby and son and there were about 3 other couples already seated but ALOT of empty tables - where we were seat... yes next to the opening and closing patio door and it was chilly. So every time they brought a drink or people came in or out the side door the draft will come in. Then food was fine - I have had much better but it was fine. The part that I was least impressed with is that it was my sons birthday and they never once mentioned it ... not good. So... it was a once time experience for us. Just okay.
Elegant dining in NE Pennsylvania, but a bit pricey for the location.
great time for our 20 year anniversary, jazz band was terrific
Pricey but well worth it! Perfect for a special occasion.
The ambiance was wonderful and the service was excellent. Every dish that came out was delicious.
This was my second visit to the French Manor and it was as lovely as the first time. HIGHLY recommend this wonderful, hidden gem. Looking forward to coming back and staying there for a couple of days.
The service was impeccable and food so wonderful. We love The French Manor.
We loved the French Manor. The food was amazing and the ambiance was relaxing and romantic. The service was outstanding as well. Prices are high for the portion size, but the food was so good, it was worth it. We can’t wait to go back!
We’ve been coming here for a VERY LONG time and had our sons engagement party here. This is the very first time the food was mediocre. The Prosecco was warm and since it was served first I just put ice in it. Then the wine also came warm. my husband ordered the special which was lamb and he ordered it medium but it came below rare. We usually order dessert but he was so annoyed we just left. At the end the Maitre ‘d asked us how everything was and my husband told him. They were gracious and took money off our bill, but I would rather pay for the better food . Our server, Ken was great though. I hope this place does not go downhill because it has always been lovely. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day, but it was as Saturday night.
