Built in 1890 as a French Steam Laundry, this rustic two-story stone house is surrounded by a country garden planted with vintage roses, perennials and seasonal herbs. The French Laundry Restaurant has an intimate dining room with 17 tables. The dining time is 3-4 hours with two prix-fixe menus to choose from. Reservations are taken one month in advance to the calendar date (i.e. Reservations for April 1st are taken March 1st).

Jackets are required for gentlemen, although ties are optional. We also ask that no one wears tennis shoes, shorts or t-shirts in the dining room.

Dinning at the French was definitely a great experience but it's luster definitely wore off the 2nd time. My 1st and 2nd meals were basically the same even though it was a year apart. Service was top notch and food was still excellent. One of my courses was a grapefruit salad but it could hardly be called a salad as it was just a slice of grape fruit with some additions on the sides. Also, I was not impressed by some of ingredients used as the focus of my dishes. That said, I would still suggest everyone to try it at least once but I would wait longer between dinning experiences. There are other great restaurants to be tried and I don't expect to be back at the French Laundry anytime soon but mark my words, I will be back eventually.

After many hours of dialing with no luck, I was able to score a reservation for the day after my wife's birthday. Finally found a spot here on opentable at 2:00 in the morning. It ended up being worth every minute spent listening to the busy signal. I'm not sure if there could be a better experience anywhere. We enjoyed everything here.

The review was beyond outstanding and the environment and atmosphere clearly exceeded all expectations. All of the servers made us feel extremely comfortable and we were not at all apprehensive asking questions about the menu, because they clearly had customer service top of mind. I only wish it was easier to get reservations!

We love everything about this restaurant. The food was phenomenal. The wine list is huge, but the selection is great. (We would have hoped that preselected wine pairings were an option, but we had a sommelier-in-training with us.) The outdoor waiting area is a nice touch (since we came early), and being able to walk through their farm (across the street) before dinner made us appreciate the farm-to-table dining experience even more than just reading about it. The tour of the kitchen after dinner made the entire night extra special for us.

We were last at the French Laundry about 9 years ago, and we really enjoyed it. At that time we tried flavors we had never tried before, and it was a delightful experience. Of course it was very expensive, but we were anticipating that. Perhaps we've become more jaded in the past 9 years, but this time around we noticed some technical issues (undercooked scallops, for example), and the price for two people (one drinker and one non drinker) was about $250 more than our last visit. I think, after tip, we topped out at over $1000. For that price I absolutely demand a mind-blowing experience, but it was just OK. Really, it was just OK. The menu wasn't inventive and it didn't showcase any great or inventive techniques.

Beautiful food artistry at its best. The tasting menus couldn't have been any better. One of the best dinners of your life.

I like rich food, and have enjoyed many tasting menus. Most courses were excellent. One course was not edible to anyone in my group. They load you up with a ridiculous amount of desserts at the end.

Had a perfect experience dining at the French Laundry sitting by the fire on a rainy fall afternoon. There were a few dishes that were not "knock your socks off" as I would expect for this restaurant. I'm so glad I was able to dine here, it was a once in a lifetime experience.
