I've been coming to the French Hen for many years and it never disappoints
Thank you so much Jan! We really appreciate your business!
We celebrated our anniversary at the French Hen. From the moment we walked in the door, the dining experience delighted us. Crisp white tablecloths with a single rose greater us. Drinks were delicious and well priced. We enjoyed duck pate, seasonal salad, bouillabaisse, and scallops. The dinner reminded me of trips to France we have enjoyed through the years. Want an intimate dining experience with delightful French cuisine? Head straight to the French Hen.
Thank you Pamela, we appreciate your review and look forward to serving you again soon.
What a wonderful evening! The waiter made several outstanding recommendations. I am looking forward to another culinary delight next visit.
Thank you Cherie, we look forward to serving you again soon!
The restaurant has that old sophisticated feel with lots of wood all around. The wall wine rack, the bar - very classic and comfy. The service was some of the best we have ever had. I would say this is a place to order the french type food (snails, quail, etc). The steak was amazing. I ordered the halibut, which was overcooked, but they fixed immediately and apologized profusely. Still, I would say not the place to order fish. I was meh about the accompaniments to the fish; the couscous pearls were too salty, I wasn't crazy about the fact that they ran out of asparagus and gave green beans instead, and the mango salsa did not make sense to me. However, the fish was cooked perfectly the second time, the escargot was tasty, the bread and butter, the caesar salad was yummy, great wine selection, etc. The staff was the BEST.
Thank you Nathan, we appreciate your detailed feedback and we hope to see you again soon!

Very sweet little romantic place with great food and cocktails! Nice date night restaurant!
Thank you Karen, we look forward to serving you again soon!
Always a reliable delicious place for dinner in south Tulsa, just sad that they plan to move to the Brady area in April. We need more high quality restaurants like the French Hen in south Tulsa.
Thank you Terence, we appreciate your review and we hope to see you soon at our new location.
The French Hen always lives up to my expectations. The food is excellent and the service is perfect
Thank you Hilary! We appreciate your review.
Old world feel with traditional French menu. Service a little slow at lunch. Lyonnaise salad advertised using frisée greens, but came with spring mix. It was ok, but wish server had mentioned substitution. Restaurant could use a little refresh of carpet and paint. But I will definitely go back to try at dinner.
Thank you for your feedback Paula. We always strive to provide a fresh and attentive experience and we look forward to serving you again soon.
It seems like the stars align every time we choose the French Hen… This experience was a perfect example. Thanks to the whole team… Really, thanks!
Thank you, we appreciate your review and we look forward to serving you again soon!
This was our first visit. It was our anniversary dinner. The staff was awesome. They all knew it was a special night and wished us well. This is a hidden jewel. They are moving down town in the spring. We found them with the help of a billboard ad. My plate looked just like the billboard. I'm not used to being served. But these guys turned it on. Thanks for a good evening. See you down town. Ralph
Thank you Ralph! We are happy you celebrated your special occasion with us and we look forward to serving you again soon!
One of our favorite places to dine... and take friends ...however they didn’t have our reservation, but made room for us....,we like relatively quiet restaurants... and good food!... sorry they didn’t have our reservation, but no problem( but could’ve been)...
Thank you Lee, we are happy you enjoyed your evening and we appreciate your feedback.
Always a wonderful experience! The food is delicious, and the wine list is very impressive. It’s a great place to have a quiet lunch or dinner.
Thank you, we appreciate your recommendation!
Always a great experience and super atmosphere. Wish it wasn't quite so pricey, I'd go much more often .... but nice little splurge from time-to-time! :D
Thank you Laura, we are always happy to serve you and look forward to seeing you again!
We loved our evening at The French Hen! The food was delicious and the service was perfect!
Thank you for your review! We hope to serve you again soon.
The food was absolutely delicious!
It a rather hard place to find but worth it!
Thank you, we appreciate your feedback!
Anniversary. Wonderful romantic restaurant. The scallops were awesome, my husband had the duck which he said was good but my scallops were better. We had the duo soufflés for desert which were awesome. Our server was wonderful. Great service.
Thank you for your review, we are so pleased you chose to celebrate your anniversary with us and that you enjoyed your evening! We hope to see you again soon.
Easily one of the most beautiful restaurants in Tulsa. Warm, comfortable, inviting, beautiful colors and table settings. My party felt completely at home to linger over our meals and desserts. The hostess and server were warm, low-key, with ready smiles. They were delightful. My only disappointment in the experience was in the astounding lack of presentation to each course and the onion soup! We had hors d'oeuvres (the mushroom) which was just a generous slice of the tart with some dressed lettuce leaves stuck at one end. There was no serving utensil to accompany this and it was... tricky. The ham and brie sandwich was very disappointing. The top piece of toast was falling off one half of mine and, while tasty enough, there seemed to be a serious lack of brie to name this sandwich ham AND brie. Lastly, the onion soup! It was less than lukewarm, the token offering of a 1" square thin piece of cheese topping a slightly larger square of what may have been toast floating on top of the broth did not even distantly resemble true French onion soup! The chocolate pate dessert was marvelous, however, I would have expected a much more pleasing presentation from The French Hen. All in all, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone for the pleasing atmosphere and service, noting the exceptions I have made here.
Thank you Nancy, we are glad you enjoyed your experience dining with us and we appreciate your feedback. We care about your entire experience, including presentation, and we hope you will visit us again soon for another opportunity to serve you.
Ambiance was very good. Service was excellent. Food was Outstanding. Will return.
Great food and great ambiance. The escargot was delicious, as was the lamb. Would highly recommend.
Delicious fare, expertly prepared. We started with the pate, served with capers, chopped red onion, chopped egg and delightfully thin seasoned toasts. The generous serving was easily shared. The salads were a nice size, not too large. Our entrees Osso Bucco, from the regular menu and Halibut, the evening's special were both delicious. The French Hen still stands up with the best restaurants in town, even after all these years.
Excellent food. Fine wines. Hard to locate. Ambiance is nice. Be prepared for the bill.
We had a great night! Food was great, service was great! Great place for a special date.
Thank you Daniel, that is great to hear!
The food was adequate but not very creative. The whole experience seemed “phoned in”. They really need to up their game when they move downtown.
A favorite place for our party of four. I had the salmon, which was perfectly prepared, and two others had filets, cooked exactly as ordered. The fourth member of our party had osso bucco, which he loved. The creme brûlée and chocolate mousse for dessert rounded out the perfect evening. Living in South Tulsa, I hate to see the French Hen move downtown.
Thank you so much Joy! We appreciate your patronage and taking time to write about this experience. It was an extremely difficult choice to move, and we do hope you will join us downtown.
I will really miss the French Hen restaurant, really hate to see it move downtown , virtually out of my reach,
Thank you for your feedback, and we appreciate you recommendation!
Everyone in our party of six enjoyed their food very much. The service was good in the beginning however as the evening progressed we found ourselves with empty glasses for water, wine, and cocktails. We ordered dessert to share but had to steal bread plates from other tables to give everyone a serving. I really love going to the French Hen as it is the only place we know of where you can actually have dinner with friends and hear the conversation across the table but for the price of the food the service should be much better. Our server was young and I believe in training so perhaps these things have been addressed.
I had the opportunity to visit TFH recently. Being from Montreal, I was used to fine French restaurants and initial impression was very favorable as this place reminded me of the many fine establishments I had visited in the past. The menu, which was available on line, was very much haute cuisine and authentic French. There was a nice variety of classic as well as unique French appetizer plus main courses which included fish, lamb, variety of beef/steak, lobster, duck, chicken, quail, scallops and pasta. The conundrum was in choosing from all these superb dishes. I took the mussels/crab/shrimp cheese cake as appetizer. This was quite a masterpiece with crispy onion strings coating the large cheese cake filled with the seafood. This type of appetizer cheese cake was a a first for me. I then had the obligatory French onion soup with Brie cheese. It was fine but not particularly overwhelming. The cheese could have been more generous as well. Finally for the main course, I took the roasted lobster tail. This came spectacularly mounted on the shell over a bed of creamed spinach with a side of potato slices and green beans. The lobster was excellently cooked and was very tender rather than tough like at many other eateries. The accompaniments bespoke of very high quality indigents. Lastly, I took for dessert their New York cheese cake. It was a reasonable if unimpressive fare. I would recommend ordering their cooked chocolate and vanilla soufflé’ that required prep time of 20 minutes and had to be preordered at the time of the main course. I was unaware of this caveat but intend to try it the next time. The waiter staff was perhaps remiss in not mentioning this delicacy to me when I was ordering. Overall however it was a very satisfying meal in a place of splendor.
Kathy, the owner waited on us and was so kind and friendly! They don’t get in a hurry to bring menus, and it was pricey. But it was a special occasion, so it was very nice!
My wife and I celebrated our 39th anniversary at the French Hen. We savoured the Escargot, French Onion Soup, Duck & Quail, with a glass of Pinot Noirs ALL was excellent. First time to dine here, won't be the last. Setvice staff was VERY good.
Thank you for a very enjoyable experience.
Love going to the French Hen for lunch. It’s always quiet enough to visit. Although the restaurant remains acceptable inside, I was embarrassed to have my guest see the terrible condition of the building from outside. The windows were filthy, blinds askew, trash not picked up. For some reason we were seated at the very back of the restaurant, next to a dirty window and the kitchen despite being the only diners at noon.
The food was good and our server lovely. Sadly that didn’t make up for the “ambiance”.
I often take clients there for lunch, primarily because the food is good, nice atmosphere and the service is excellent. Also, it's usually more quiet than most restaurants which makes it nice when trying to have a conversation.
Food was great ! The time we had to wait for our food was long and I feel like the noise is very loud . There were moments when I couldn’t hear my date sitting directly across from me . If they could change how loud the kitchen is i’d definitely give it a 5 star rating.
The service was S L O W. Our table was next to the kitchen. A bit busy. The food was excellent. I’m not sure we’ll return.
Overall the food was good but the server ordered the wrong meal for me. I had ordered the beef filet and I got a beef sirloin steak by mistake which was gross fatty & gristle-y. A while later when our server checked on us I told them but it was too late at that point to correct the issue, for at that point everyone was finished eating. BUT, they offered free dessert for myself & removed the charge for my meal. We will happily return to the restaurant once they are in their new location.
Great business lunch place for a quieter atmosphere
Food is always outstanding and so is the service
I keep coming back here when I get the chance to pick
My husband Jere and I share the same birthday (August 29th). The French Hen & Wine Bistro has been
one of our favorites ever since we moved to Tulsa in the late 80's. The food and service was perfect. We
enjoying bringing friends and family. Keep up the great work!
